AS I rmember from his book...
His 50% grandparents were Jewish in the Ottoman empire at that time. They later on migrated to today's Ukraine. Where they joined other 2 grand aprents -estonian latvian? all Jewish decent. And they migrated t the Us married etc.
I wouldn t call Turkish but somehow related- from far. His grandmother was singing some Turkish song to him when he was very young according to his excellent own biography.
