  • I love the random couple at 1:37 lol

  • The tuba guy is my hero.

  • I read somewhere that the fingerings of the saruss and the sax are almost similar...

  • @monteleone1010

I think Sarrus was a competitor of Sax's back in the 1800s.

  • Well, THAT was unexpected! Gnarly sounding sarr solo and a pretty sweet tuba sound.

  • i would like to the sarrusophone play yakety sax :3

  • is the saruss hard to play?

  • hi uncle ken! its alessandra! im on my friends account. good job :)(

  • NO NO IT'S TOOO FUN FOR ME.

    I SURRENDER

  • Is the sarrusophone a common instrument in America? I know that it is (was) popular in Europe(as is the ophecleide). I love to see/hear those rare instruments.

  • no they are rather rare

  • @monteleone101

It was mostly used during the big band era but has since faded into obscurity. In order to have made now, you need to get a custom order.

  • Pete is also a wizard duck call player - sounds like a supranino sarrusophone!

  • While he's a good player, and the sarrusaphone is rare instrument, there is nothing in that recording that would make want to drop thousands of $ to buy one, or give up a piece of my anatomy (real or false) for one.

    Sorry, just being honest.

The sound was harsh & the notes were difficult to distinguish from each other. They blended together to form a cacophony of sound that was distracting.

I wish it had been different. I wanted to hear something different.

  • Really it was just inappropriately amplified. There is another video on youtube of a guy demonstrating the sarrusophone. Of course that doesn't mean it isn't harsh sounding. A bass sax would have fit better but it is a pretty good tune.

  • actualy somtiems the reason for the harsh sound is the use of a single reed mouthpiece.

i can't see what' he's using in this vid

  • It looks like he's using a while mouthpiece. The only original mouthpieces that I've seen for the sarrus have been black. I wonder who made this one?

  • i think it's teh wrong kind he's got. it shuold be played with a reed like that of a contrabassoon

  • i agree he is a luck bastard

i would sell my false eye for one of those

  • oh my goodness...how did he get his hands on a sarrusophone. i am extremely jealous...

    i dig the tunes!
