It was so sad for me the first time I saw this scene in theaters. I had come to quickly adore Oogway and he dies half way through the movie, that is what makes me sad.

I hope they use Oogway as a spirit again like they did in the end of Ghost of Oogway in future movies and the series. At least he's still around.

He wouldn't have been because of his voice and personality, but the part where his head his cocking left and right wordlessly as he observes Po struggling to stay out of the fire was creepy. Tai Lung didn't get any moments like that. He was cooler though I agree, the part where his fists are engulfed in blue flames made his fight with Shifu even more awesome.

The fact that Oogway chooses to leave because he feels that Shifu is relying on him too much, adds a lot to it, but it does make me sad because it means Oogway won't be in any future Kung Fu Panda films. (At least not that I know of, I actually haven't seen the sequel yet)
