@SangosEvilTwin Hey mate, im like this too :) First I'll visit in June this place, but I want to immigrate here. Its just soo beautiful and magical :D
Better then oslo? oslo is just a concrete city full of illegal drug using immigrants.. bergen however got wooden historical buildings, lots of fountains... Bergen = should be the capital of norway
@MrShirial You got historical, wooden buildings. We got historical stone buildings, that got class, just like a capital should have. The Oslo you speak of is eastern Oslo, not the western part. Oslo is also the obvious choice to be a capital, as it got more than DOUBLE of the population of Bergen.
If you want to see the famous Opera House, Vigelands Park, the Castle, Changing of Guards, Munch/Viking Ship/Kon Tiki museum, hiking/skiing in a big city, Holmenkollen ski jump, Stave Church, the Old town, industrial history in Akerselva, Akershus Fortress, Nobels PP centre, Holocaust centre, Tusenfryd Amusement Park, drink coffe in Frogner/Grunerloekka surrounded by beautiful old buildings, shopping in Bogstadgata, joining a mix of all people who enjoys big pulsating cities, VISIT OSLO:)
@HorizonExer Bergens oldest preserved building is Mariakirken (Tyskekirken), which was built in year 1180. Oslo's oldest preserved building is Gamle Aker Kirke (built 1093). But I never said I didnt like Bergen, cus I do, a lot. It's a cool city.
Definitely "the" city to visit if you ever go to Norway. I'm lucky enough to live here :) There's nothing quite like it, both in Norway and the world for that matter
@Reemii no person from bergen would say that, everyone knows that people from bergen are one of the most patriotic with their city in the world. this person is from Oslo, every norwegian knows that Oslo is full of drugs and crime. it has been awarded the heroine capital of Europe, and that says a lot. What song did you choose, I don't recognize it, but like it.
I can see what people mean when they say that Bergen isn't a beautiful place, etc., but that SURELY depends on where you go/live! But if you're at a place with nice people, no crime, etc., you'll love it there! It's like that everywhere you go! There are ups and downs with everything. Deal with it!
@Leifstuan denmark has no mountains, but saying that norway don`t have mountains just make you look stupid. I live in Bergen and i shoud know it. do some research next time you plan to correct someone. and please, feel free to correct my english grammer aswell :P
@eurofighterisbest You seem to have misunderstood, i meant the guy i responded to should move to norway instead of Denmark. Because Denmark has no mountains ^^ I know norway has lots of em'
@XactFilms - if you are from the USA, you should move anywhere away from there. if you don't want to be doomed for the rest of your life by federal lies and political conspiracies.
@XactFilms You should move to Norway rather than Denmark, western Norway has the mildest winter climate in Scandinavia and among the most beautiful and dramatic nature in the world. It also has alot of old wood and stone buildings from the viking age up to the present in western norway and particulary in Bergen since it used to be the largest city in Scandinavia.
@Reemii Wrong again? I suppose maybe I was wrong once? In any event if you dont like where you live, why live there? Are you too afraid of starting anew?

2000 years ago a celtic/germanic tribe called Harudes (the horder people) was forced off their land in Germany and Denmark by the danes, They migrated to where Bergen is today and called their new land Hordaland. The largest fjord in the area is called Hardangerfjorden and is also named after the Harudes tribe.

@BJHBNE drugproblem? all the junkies are gathered at one spot, the nygårdspark, it's just the best solution until they make the herion legal and perscripted and get the worst trash away from the streets and into rehabs or institusions. until then, keep them together so that they can be surveillanced.
Bergen is so much more than these pictures shows. Its the best city in Norway. You have to experience it by your self. Yes, its much rain, but its also a fantastic place to be.
great city. Im proud of living here this year and I will miss it very much when I'll go back to my country. who says Norway is boring? there are good pubs and wonderful landscapes. and finally you almost learn to love the eternal rain of Bergen :P
why compare Bergen with metropolis like London, Paris and Rome? Bergen isn't anything like any of those citys, but Bergen is something special anyway. Bergen is in my optinion the best place I've been. I'm gratefull that I was born here and still live here. I've been many places in my life, but nothing is like home.
We might not have a great history of men and what they have built. But, we have a great natural history to show for. And we norwegians are proud of what our country provides us with. When it comes to welfare, just check the list of best places to live in the world. Last I checked, I think Norway ranked as nr.1
The top ten places to live (United Nations) 1.Norway 2.Australia 3.Iceland 4.Canada 5.Ireland 6.Netherlands 7.Sweden 8.France 9.Switzerland 10.Japan (Usa is number 13 and Britan number 20)
Wow... ppl are touchy here... We should only be glad that we are so different in culture.. Otherwise it would have been boring everywhere.. It is true that the cities of Norway are far from beautiful and exciting compared to cities like Rome, Prag, Paris and London. Our's biggest cities are like small towns compared to those. But ppl doesn't travel to Norway to see the cities. They travel to see the Nature, that is one of its kind.
You're probably right about London. It is indeed the place to be. But I don't think Norway has got any of those typical mining and industrial cities like you will find in Yorkshire and around Manchester and Leeds. Those look really boring architecture! Nothing but flats and no green spots! ;)
zeebo296 you talk about nice peoples and bad peoples and tell that your country is friendly when you are offensive yourself. In norway its much more beutiful nature than in Uk. In norway we got bad peoples and nice peoples done!
I don`t know how looks Norway or which people are living there, but here in UK ( I`ve been here 7 years) are not very kindly people, but each country has good and bad people, maybe Norway has a problem with heroin, but in UK every one smoke marihuana, and kids here are horible, rude and absolutely stupid.
Compared to the Irish, you are cold and unfriendly! You are also very "aloof" and "serious". I find the Swedes the same. You need to smile a little more at strangers. Maybe it's your weather which makes you all like that :P
Go backpacking around Ireland, and you'll learn all about friendly people!
We are all rich. Youærejust jealous! You can't judge us for some people you may have seen. We smile all the time. Most of us. Accept it. We are humans, not some doggies. We're the same as all other human beings. so don't say that.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Well I don't agree that all Norwegians are rich. There are plenty of people in Norway who do not "own" their own homes. They are "renting" council owned apartments. Some of these apartments are very small, and quite basic. Same with Sweden. It's another country which is referred to as "Rich". Yet it's full of horrible out of date apartments which were built in the 1960's 70's.
At least in Britain and Ireland we are honest, and admit that "some ppl are rich" and "some ppl are poor".
norway is actually the best contry to live in! It's a official contest, and norway won. Hmm, I wonder why we won if we're so stupid, basic, not honest and horrible. Norway is not some horrible contry with idiots. Norway is a contry like yours. We have high mountains, fjords and impressive falls. Ireland is also nice, but don't you dear to lay about norway. Don't you dear to pretend you know anything about it! I LIVE HERE! I know this MUCH better than you. Don't you dear. Seriously.
What about the terrible problem in Oslo with Heroin Addicts?? For several years, Oslo had the highest number of Heroin-Overdose deaths in the whole of Europe! Also, my local shop-keeper here in London is an asian man. He has relatives in Oslo (asians), and they LOVE to come to visit him here in London. Why? Because they find the British people FAR MORE FRIENDLY AND DOWN TO EARTH!
Im sorry but you dont know what your talking about. The wellfaresystem gives every norwegian right to have their own home. If you dont have a job the system will give you salary that is similar to the salary of a full time job.
At least, we in Norway dont need to admit that "some ppl are rich" and "some ppl are poor". We simply give enough money to the poor.
England has a lot to learn from Norway when it comes to wellfare. No doubt about it zeebo296.
@rompebart Norway is utterly boring! And Oslo has no architectural beauty whatsover. The main city hall building is possibly the ugliest building I have ever seen in my life :)
Youtube is full of Norwegians who will confirm how utterly boring Norway is. Take a look at Crienexzy's channel for example. She represents the views of many other younger Norwegians, and is clearly "bored".
Britain aint perfect....but at least London offers it's young ppl a real "vibe" and "excitement"
i really don't bother talk to you anymore. you're judging, childish, idiotic, mean, rasistic etc... stop it. all contries has its good and bad things. your british loving contry has bad sites too. and norway IS FREAKIN' NOT A BAD CONTRY! you're far over a respectable line, and i'm no longer respecting you. sorry.

Bergen er ikke en by med regn. Nå er jo det bare sol og snø

why compare Bergen with metropolis like London, Paris and Rome? Bergen isn't anything like any of those citys, but Bergen is something special anyway. Bergen is in my optinion the best place I've been. I'm gratefull that I was born here and still live here. I've been many places in my life, but nothing is like home.

Bergen is actually more than these pictures you cant judge the city from these pictures.

The great thing about all towns in Norway, is that it is so easy to get out of them! ;)
otoevst 2 years ago
We might not have a great history of men and what they have built. But, we have a great natural history to show for. And we norwegians are proud of what our country provides us with. When it comes to welfare, just check the list of best places to live in the world. Last I checked, I think Norway ranked as nr.1

Wow... ppl are touchy here...
Sirianne89 2 years ago 3
Bergen own Rome, London, Paris and Prague in beauty all day long! Bergen is the most beautiful city in the world.

Det e fordi du aldri har vært utenfor Bergen det!
otoevst 2 years ago
You're probably right about London. It is indeed the place to be. But I don't think Norway has got any of those typical mining and industrial cities like you will find in Yorkshire and around Manchester and Leeds. Those look really boring architecture! Nothing but flats and no green spots! ;)
otoevst 2 years ago 4
London doesn't even compare to Bergen, Paris or Prague!

zeebo296 you talk about nice peoples and bad peoples and tell that your country is friendly when you are offensive yourself. In norway its much more beutiful nature than in Uk. In norway we got bad peoples and nice peoples done!
andreasluu 2 years ago

@zeebo296
We are all rich. Youærejust jealous! You can't judge us for some people you may have seen. We smile all the time. Most of us. Accept it. We are humans, not some doggies. We're the same as all other human beings. so don't say that.

At least in Britain and Ireland we are honest, and admit that "some ppl are rich" and "some ppl are poor".
zeebo296 2 years ago
We are much richer than you guys over The north sea!

I think you will find there are far more millionaires per square mile in London than the whole of "little" Norway put together.
Anyway, who cares about money! Emotional well-being is far more important than Financial well-being :)

London alone has a far higher population than all of Norway, so go figure :P
i bet you can also find more impoverished people in a square mile in London , than in all of Norway :P

norway is actually the best contry to live in!

Why? Because they find the British people FAR MORE FRIENDLY AND DOWN TO EARTH!
tee hee hee ;)

Im sorry but you dont know what your talking about. The wellfaresystem gives every norwegian right to have their own home. If you dont have a job the system will give you salary that is similar to the salary of a full time job.
At least, we in Norway dont need to admit that "some ppl are rich" and "some ppl are poor". We simply give enough money to the poor.
England has a lot to learn from Norway when it comes to wellfare. No doubt about it zeebo296.
rompebart 2 years ago 3
@rompebart Norway is utterly boring! And Oslo has no architectural beauty whatsover. The main city hall building is possibly the ugliest building I have ever seen in my life :)
Youtube is full of Norwegians who will confirm how utterly boring Norway is. Take a look at Crienexzy's channel for example. She represents the views of many other younger Norwegians, and is clearly "bored".
Britain aint perfect....but at least London offers it's young ppl a real "vibe" and "excitement"
:P
zeebo296 2 years ago
i really don't bother talk to you anymore. you're judging, childish, idiotic, mean, rasistic etc... stop it. all contries has its good and bad things. your british loving contry has bad sites too. and norway IS FREAKIN' NOT A BAD CONTRY! you're far over a respectable line, and i'm no longer respecting you. sorry.
