Hey I played Darius 2, it is my favourite Saturn game, and if you upgraded the silver shield you would get a golden shield, which could take around 9 hits, I don't know if it is in this game also but it must be.

Yeah, you should pick a different route than Zone M. Titanic Lance is considered to be one of the hardest Darius bosses in the entire series, and it takes up the entire level! It's really there for those sadistic hardcore players.

Thanks for the info on the Taito Legnends version, I just received it in the mail. But if the sound isn't as good I'll have 2 bite the bullet & get a Saturn console! Great review CGRHD 5 stars!

An interesting gameplay element not covered...

The mid-way bosses in levels can be "captured" and will fight for you. When you see the enemy units carrying a blue orb, shooting the orb a few times before killing said enemy will have it detatch from the enemy, and float to the middle of the screen. Touching the orb will have the enemy ship fight for you for a while, but it will delf destruct before reaching the boss.

The only game I know with a similar soundtrack is Zone of the Enders. Awesome game, and the sequel is even better, but it costs a good £30. Worth it, though ^_^

You know, I will not do what that guy recommends about getting an aquarium and pretending that there are cool backgrounds and techno music playing and that the fish are shooting at me. I will actually get the game. Also, I have a cat offline and cats + fish = bad idea. Speaking of cats, why did they never make a giant cat ship to fight the fish ships? You know that cats like fish, right?

I still recommend G-Darius for the Playstation Mark, I know Playstation shooters are a bit rougher on the hands, but I bet you'd love the capture ball system. Also the end bosses are pretty sweet, very nice graphics.

It is on PS2 in Taito Legends 2 yet it still got overlooked. Gamers who play REALLY, REALLY GOOD games are a dying breed these days.

I happen to have that compilation game as a matter of fact. Also, G Darius is also on that disc but I enjoy Darius Gaiden more. Too bad that Taito did not release Bubble Bobble 2, Darius, Darius Extra Hard Version, and Darius 2/Sagaia on the first Taito Legends game, though.
