I grew up in Iowa and this video is right on the money. The toughest guys I played football with were wrestlers and I have the utmost respect for the sport of wrestling. You can go to any tiny little town in Iowa during wrestling season and on the night of a local match the entire community will be at the gym.

my dad took me aside when i was 10 after he caught me talking to an opponent and said you cant go out with the intent to punish some one when u sit there and talk to them before the match stop it or practice on tuesday will be horrible needless to say i got whipped pretty good the next week though i wrestled the same kid didnt even make eye contact ignored him when he talked to me i finshed 2nd to the eventual aau st champ he finished 4th and was pinned 3 times i pinned him in 20 seconds

@bigbirdgrappler60 I think it's okay to talk to opponent's as long as you don't get relaxed doing it. I talked with a guy for like 10 minutes before our match, and I ended up pinning him.

@markspray your right ...my point is that you don't have to "instill" anger or make kids mean to be great wrestlers. It was the comment about your Dad, not wanting you to talk to the kid before the match. I don't believe you need to instill "pit bull" mentality to be successful or even to be a Champion in wrestling (Cael Sanderson example). Some of the toughest guys in the BJJ world...truly tough guys, are some of the kindest individuals that you will ever meet.

Dont think that I havent done wrestling, i hv represented my country in Greco Roman in 2004 Olympics in Athens and in the commonwealth games, so dont come to talk shit to me u punk.
