  • beautiful then, beautiful now!

  • @luvmypeaceofmind Thansk so much!!

  • Soooo cute! I love your hair. Just did the big chop on 2/2/12 and I'm so happy I did it. :)

  • @Livelovelaughinpink Thanks!! Yay!!! Congratulations!!!

  • @Livelovelaughinpink Thanks so much!! Woo hoo!!

  • You look GORGE with ur hair like this.

  • @Learning4Fun2011 Thank You!!

  • You look gorgeous with natural hair!

  • @TheNaturallawyer Thanks so much!!

  • it looks gorgeous! :)

  • @Neekolassify Thanks so much!

  • I love the shape of it!

  • @mizzday100 Thanks!

  • Great vid:) so did you ever find a way to keep your TWA from being dry when you wake up, because ive recently gotten the big chop and my hair does the same thing and i dont want to wash it every day..

  • @shaydz0415 for one stopped using Pantene and started using Kink Curly Knot Today Leave-In Conditioner. I did have to rewet my hair each morning (not shampoo). Wash-in-gos generally make my hair hard, so when my hair was long enough I started doing twist outs, which kept my hair soft.

  • Its so funny how people react lol, after just three days I hear "Girl u cut your hair?", "Why you did that?", "Now how your gonna wear it?", "Hmm mm...well okay?...I'm just gonna keep putting in my perms" it doesn't matter though because every woman I have seen on here with their natural hair looks so beautiful to me and inspires me to make my first live video!

  • @jelicabean Yay!! Do it! Do it! I was also so inspired by all of the wonderful YT ladies.

  • Yea I cut my hair yesterday and the hair is very tightly coiled I'm still trying to figure out what to do! I am glad though that I have enough hair to grip in case I have to go into emergency "Kinky twist mode" lol.

  • @jelicabean It will be a trial and error process so don't get discouraged! Try different, but good for you, products to see what works best for you and also try different styles. I had to go into Kinky twist mode myself, which worked well for me. Keep me posted.

  • Girl -- I cut my hair tonight -- it didn't do ANY of the things it was suppose to do!!! So I have it coiled, so for me it wasn't a big chop - more like a big shock LOL.

  • @thrupyeseyes Yay!!! Good for you! It will take a minute to get used to it and to learn how to best style and maintain it. But once you get your regimen and embrace your new look...you will be just fine!!

  • omfg....i wish my big chop looked like urs.....i wish i had baby hair....dammit....

  • @Dummiip LMBO!!! This post had me in stitches!! Keep taking care of your hair and embrace it just the way it is!!!

  • you're beautiful! I did the BC already but I am waiting for my classes to finish (in 20 days) to really show and wear proudly my short hair (I have a wig right now) but I am scared OMG! I looked at the youtubers who did the same and they all look beautiful, I'm afraid of looking very bad the day I'll show my natural hair lol! aynway, you're very nice!

  • @titirozbonbon I totally understand and felt the same way before and after I cut my hair. I will say that learning to style and maintain your hair after the big chop is definitely half of the battle, but I firmly believe building up your confidence and self-esteem to know you are beautiful exactly how God made you and rocking your hair with that confidence is the other half. The confidence you exude will be way more attractive even on your worse hair day...believe me!!

  • @NaturalJourney Hey I'm back here! lol I did it! I finally ditched the wig and I'm 100% nappy, I was scared but now I feel so good, relieved and happy! I wanted it so much! :)) Plus I don't look that bad! :D Just need time and experience to learn how to style it but I am very happy! I can put on scarves and nice stuf like that, which is pretty cool :))

  • @titirozbonbon Woo-hoo!!!!!! You go, girl!!! I'm so proud of you. Now where are some pix or a video???

  • @NaturalJourney lol I don't know about that ... but I'll think about it :))

  • Beautiful Big Chop :) True Inspiration :) I recently did the big chop I love It.

  • @Hadassah73 Thanks so much!!! Yay!!! Good for you!!

  • Congratuations and your hair looks fabulous!!!! I am 5 months w/o perming and have been wearing a rod set which I absolutely love!! However, I am ready to remove the the "dead" hair and will be doing the BC in 2 weeks!!!!

  • Congratuations and your hair looks fabulous!!!! I am 5 months w/o perming and have been wearing a rod set which I absolutely love!! However, I am ready to remove the the "dead" hair and will be doing the BC in 2 weeks!!!!

  • I don't know if you answered this question already. I wasn't able to watch the whole video. But how many months post relaxer were you when you bc'd?

  • @tkerce21 I was 6 months post relaxer when I bc'd.

  • @bnpearson1 Awww...thanks so much! I have heard of Wajjid products...I will have to check them out. Thanks!!!

  • Love your hair ! greedings from Athens, Greece, love your video's, wishing you a great new year full of health and hapiness !

  • @MariaAya Thanks!!!! Wow...Athens, Greece!!! Believe it or not my family and I used to live outside of Athens when I was 3 and 4 years old. My dad was in the Navy and stationed there. Are you from Athens? If not, what took you there? wow...the internet is something else!!! Wishing you a great new year as well!!

  • @NaturalJourney I'm greek-italian-egyptian born in Australia ! I'm based in Athens and international teacher of bellydance :)

  • @MariaAya Wow...I checked out some of your videos...awesome. Wish I could get to one of your classes!!!

  • I cut my hair down but I now want to just go on and cut it off. I am amazed at how beautiful black women are with their natural hair, but I still feel like in corporate america I will be looked at differently. I am going to try though and see what happens. I wish you luck.

  • @krwiley514 I understand what you mean by corporate america looking at you differently, but trust me the confidence you will exude as a result of making the decision to go natural for no one but yourself will be attractive to corporate america. I haven't had anything but positive comments made since I went natural and I work in a corporate and very political setting.

  • yes girly, I watched your video-left and finished up my BC-now I'm back posting!! I have had 2 mini chops in recent months. Thanks for the inspiration! I have had long hair all my life, I know this will be a shocker for my friends/fam and I'm gonna hear alot of lip!!! I have struggled with the idea for 2 years, but your video made me think...."wth", it will grow back!!! So glad to get rid of those permed ends!!!

  • @Kountrygyrl99 Yay!!! My pleasure!! Yes, it will grow back healthier and stronger! I know the feeling to get rid of those permed ends. Yay...good for you!!!!

  • Girly, you have inspired me to finish up my BC. yes, I watched your video and then left to go wash and cut my hair and now I'm back posting. Yayyyyy Me!!! I have had 2 mini chops, but after watching this video, I said, "wth"!!! I have had long hair all my life, so I'm expecting to hear alot of lip from my family and friends!!! And I am actually loving my short style! P.S. I called my son's barber for a shape up tommorrow morning at 8am. Yayyyyyy me!!!!

  • @Kountrygyrl99 You go girl!!!!! Enjoy every phase of length as it grows out...you will learn something new about your all the time. Also it is easier to learn how to style your natural hair when it is shorter...as it gets longer you will be familiar with your hair to know what works and what doesn't. Best wishes to you...I'm going to go check out your post.

  • love it... YOU LOOK VERY SEXY AND SASSY!!

  • @AKQJ40 Thanks so much!

  • looks very nice...i think natural is beautiful, I have natural hair and at times i want straight hair and whenever I do...i buy a wig or do some sort of straight style to my hair. So keep it up if you havent decided to go back..good luck!!

  • @zestydidra Thanks so much! I'm happy to report that I'm still natural!! I haven't even been tempted to straighten my hair during the almost year and a half since my BC....and I am loving the freedom and beauty of my natural hair. I hope your journey has been just as fulfilling! Peace and blessings!

  • Awwww, you look cute!!

  • @thisheadofmine thanks!!!

  • Your big chop reveal is beautiful! Mine looked like a mug shot. lol

  • @godsflame2 LOL...thanks! I am sure yours did not look that bad!!!

  • Your BC looks great fits your face. I know a lot of women feel they don't look feminine when they BC................I beg the difference. I love my twa and the versatility we have with wearing it curly or natural or twist outs etc. Remember we went natural because as a "permed" we are not our hair it does not define who we are.............we are who we are and we identify our individuality based on God's purpose for our life and who He made in us. Be blessed and thanks for sharing.

  • @cocomodiva I couldn't agree with you more...thanks for the compliment! Peace and blessings!

  • Your big chop came out gorgeous and I'm happy you had the strength to do it. Good job!

  • @MyYuniko Thanks so much...It took me 4 attempts, but I'm so glad I did it!

  • Your big chop is beautiful!! I big chopped about a month ago and I have no regrets!!

  • @Annieprn67 Yay!! Good for you! Thanks so much!

  • You are soooo pretty! Your hair looks great and it looks great in your most receent video as well!

  • @LanaBana2931 Awww...thanks so much!

  • sorry to hear about your marriage. re-watched this video for encouragement i've been transitioning since jan '09 with twists & microbraids am ready to wear just my hair now.

  • @aran08504 Thanks! I hope it helped!

  • Love your hair! And you definitely have the face for it. I just did the big chop a week ago and you're so right...it IS empowering. I noticed I've started dressing differently and I have so much more confidence. It's amazing what going back to your roots can do.

  • @HappyNappyKinks Thanks so much!!! I totally agree!

  • did mine today and yours looks great.......

  • @chim80 Yippeeee!! Embrace every stage of your hair growth, try different products and styles until you find what works for your hair. Before you get discouraged with what to do with your hair try to find a great stylist who can do kinky twists or styles to your natural hair until you master it. I highly recommend that you eventually learn how to style your own hair...its cheaper, and u can learn more about your hair by doing it yourself. Then you can become an inspiration to others too.

  • @NaturalJourney I would deff take your advice my hair stylist cut it pretty good but I want to learn how to style my own hair and learn more about it as I go along. I'm soo soo soo glad I did it and it's like a weight lifted from me I'm just loving it and will doing a upload here soon. Thanks sooo much for the advice God Bless.......

  • I hear you on the dry afro. I cut my hair two weeks ago, I haven't really faced the world yet. I had dreadlocks, so wrapping it up was the norm for me.

But maybe you put too much stuff in your hair why it was dry. Mine wasn't so bad the day after. I try to use as natural products as I can.

It must be something in the air, why so many sisters be cutting their hair lately~

  • @WynterLioness I think my hair was so dry in this video because I had used Pantene products. I stopped using Pantene soon thereafter and have finally gotten my regimen down to a science. I don't style my hair in wash-n-go styles at all any more...I only do twist outs and pony tail puffs. I keep my routine and the products I use very simple and have experience lots of hair growth plus my hair stays soft. And, yes, I think more and more sisters are discoving that natural is the way to go.

  • gorgeous....love the hair...u have the face for short hair. I want to go natural...just petrified.

  • @tracymbuford Awww...thanks so much, but believe me I didn't think so!! You can do it!!! Just know I attempted to go natural 4 different times before I decided to do the big chop. Its been the best decision mentally, emotionally, and physically that I could have done!!!

  • How long had you been transitioning before you did the bc!

  • @deviousangel08 I transitioned for 6 months.

  • I loved your video! And I feel the same way...Thank you so much for posting this.

  • @luvtheno Glad to hear that! My pleasure!!

  • Your hair is really cute! How long did you transition before cutting?

  • Very cute!! How long did you transition before cutting?

  • @ebonyqueen4u Thanks...6 months.

  • I love your hair and would love to know how u transitioned from relaxed hair to natural hair. i am of Nigerian decent and have always had a perm. i presently have a short perm hair cut that is due for a relaxer but I am choosing not to perm anymore. Can you please give me some pointers on how to transition without a big chop?

  • Thanks for sharing.

  • @rosalindreece You're welcome!

  • I absolutely love your hair! I did the big chop yesterday with the help of my husband and I still have a lot of relaxer to cut off. It will get shorter before longer but that's the price! Thank you for this inspiring video!

  • @kokodesigns My pleasure!!

  • @ALYJULY Go for it! I know it is a major mind shift, but if you believe you're beautiful, which you are, then other people will too. Be confident and embrace your natural beauty.

  • beautifull!

  • @shamia3121 Thanks!

  • I have an appointment with your stylist on Monday!

  • @NaturalBronzeBomb Yay...you won't be disappointed! I am tryiing another stylist in Baltimore on Saturday who is going to twist my natural hair for me for a twist out. I will post a video on that and share the information.

  • Where are you??? Missing your positive videos!!!

  • @NaturalBronzeBomb Hey Natural beauty!!! Sorry I've been MIA! I'm slowly getting back in my flow! Thanks for the luv and encouragement!

  • U r gorgeous! I jus did my chop yesterday and I've been on YouTube and other hair care sites for inspiration and support because my family isn't supportive at all! But anyway thanx for the video

  • @brandonandapril Awww...thanks so much!!! Stay encouraged and rock your confidence...people will eventually see that and be drawn to you. If you question your decision...they will question your decision. Keep watching youtube and checking the internet...there is so much inspiration out there!

  • You look beautiful! Love it, don't lye it!

  • @jomom Thanks!!! Exactly!

  • how long did you transition for?

  • @jennybooboo7 I transitioned for 6 months.

  • Beautiful kitchen! Beautiful hair and more beautiful woman and you are blessed that your husband supports your natural journey. I felt totally liberated when I went bald to rid myself of the lye! I did it on the sly without my fam's knowledge, my hair was down my back and I knew they would object. I showed up to a party with the hair gone and my husband hated it. We divorced shortlly thereafter. Go figure! I love my hair and I love the love I get from my hair now and he misses me.

  • @earthlycolorbrown Thanks so much! I love my hair too!!

  • I love it

  • @backtomyroots1 Thanks!

  • I know I'm late.. but your kitchen is beautiful!

  • @cstyle1982 Thanks...it's my old kitchen now...lol! But I loved it while I lived there.

  • they probably have a lap top sitting on the sink.i like your video.i cut my hair too.all natural baby

  • @tanneshaandahmed Thanks...I'm still trying to figure out how to do tutorials in the bathroom...my computer is way to big. Good for you on the natural!!!

  • thats fantastic..

  • very pretty.. you in spire me

  • @saadialove Thanks so much!! What a blessing to hear!

  • yo look beautiful btw....and i soooooo understand the "empowered" feeling

  • @cocomami0813 Thanks so much! Yes, empowerment is wonderful! We are in control of our emotions and our circumstances, and because we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us, it is only right to be the change we want to see in the world...don't let other people control your life or devalue you!

  • I just did my Big Chop on saturday, I like you am use to having very long hair, the shortest my hair has ever been was shoulder length, but I am LOVING MY TWA!!! and I think my hubby loves it even more than I do which was a shocker bc he was initially against me cutting it!!

  • @classyjewel I am glad to hear you are loving your TWA. I am sure your husband loves your confidence and new attitude too. You may have to be extra feminine in your dress, accessories and make up to enhance your new look, but do whatever it takes to make you feel beautiful and sexy!!

  • @NaturalJourney thank you so much for the advice. i see you used different products for this look, can you please do a tut on it. My hair doesnt curl much in the front either lol I have been doing bantu knot outs to get the front to curl

  • its beautiful

  • @tiso24 Thank you!!

  • You look absolutely beautiful!! More power to you and thank you for sharing with us!

  • looks beautiful on you

  • Thanks!!

  • @hardymem

    Thanks so much!

  • i just cut my hair even shorter than yours. my mom is gonna freak, she hasnt seen it yet. i just got really tired of getting perms because they made my hair thin and come out when i comb it so that's why i cut mine. now i need to know how to take care of it. i have absolutely no clue!

  • Well YouTube is a great source of information, tutorials and other inspiring women who started exactly where you are, including myself. Don't be a stranger and feel free to ask me any questions.

  • yay no more perm...you have the face for the bc..I am 2 years and 7 months natural but I transitioned instead of doing the bc..I just did my 1st natural video so please watch...thanks for sharing your experience

  • Thanks.. I will watch your video...congrats on your transition!!!

  • Looks great...

  • Thanks!!

  • u look beautiful

  • Thanks!!

  • please comment on my video leila curl pattern...i want to find out what type of hair this person has...

  • I am not good with the hair typing, but if I had to guess I would say I am a 3c.

  • You look great. I am in transition and want to go natural. I haven't permed my hair in almost three months. I am considering the big chop but your look works well for you. Thanks for sharing.

  • Thanks so much!! Hang in there with your transition...you will know when and if you should big chop. I have not regretted my decision for one day!

  • Yes you have inspired me. I can't wait. Your hair looks great. Keep us posted.
