I THINK OF DWAYNE GOD SENT HIM TO ME WHEN I WAS AN MESS MAN THIS BROTHER SHOWED ME HOW AN MAN SHOULD TREAT THEIR WOMEN AND RIGHT TO THIS DAY I AM MADLY IN LOVE AND THIS SONG I TELLING HIM HOW I AM FEELING, HES MY EVERYTHING AND I WANT TO SPEND THE REST OF MY LIFE WITH HIM. LOVE YOU BABY.
I LOVE SONG SO IN LOVE CAUSE THAT WHAT I AM IN WITH AND WONDERFUL MAN WHO I LOVE WITH ALL OF SOUL, HEART AND BODY MAN THIS HAS BEEN AN GREAT FEELING KNOWING HE FEEL THE SAME ABOUT ME, DWAYNE HAS BEEN AN PERFECT GENTLEMEN HELPING ME TAKE CARE OF MY KIDS BY SOMEONE ELSE YOU DONT FIND TO MANY MAN WHO WOULD TAKE CARE OF CHILDREN WHO ARE NOT THEIR OWN. I THANK GOD EVERYDAY FOR BRINGING DWAYNE TO ME AND MY KIDS I AM HAPPY AND LOVING IT. LOVE YOU DWAYNE
Another great one by Curtis.I thank my oldest sisters and brothers for this type of music. They taught me to love old skool like this. Again, I feel this way today about my baby, Danny! .
Curtis Mayfield loved his woman and his people with all his heart and soul. This song set the standard for successful relationships around the world. I only wish radio stations would paly more of his music and other artist that challanged us to be the best we can be. There is such respect for women in this song.
Me and some friends stayed in Goa for about a week after travelling for 2 months. We visited in the off season and had this whole villa complex to ourselves, they had a soundsystem right near the pool and an ipod with this song on it. I played it a lot, and it's one of those songs i hear and i'm transported back to that frame of mind i was in when i first heard it. This song will forever remind me of chilling in a beautiful place in a perfect state of mind. Mayfield is the man.
While at a friend of mine's house recently I heard this song for the first time. I went home and tried to find this song...all up under Smokey Robinson!!! Finally! I got it. You go Curtis Mayfield...again...and again....and again!!!!!!!!
banging tune, never herd it b 4, he was a foggoton man was Curtis, what was i listerning too then ?, missed it, however now found, been listerning all evening to Curtis stuff, you can hear where a lot of funk & soul guys got somin from , man i really dig it, reminds me too much of being at home in my bedroom with jack to worry about, life was so fantasic and groovey then, suppose we all grow up.
Well all I can say is this is real music not that mess you hear today which has no respect for the ladies at all thia was what we had during my younger days and thats all i listen to besides the gospel
I remember this song from my younger days, but I heard it one day on the Berny Mac show and it made my soul feel right. There is a saying that Sam Cooke was the man who invented soul. Well Curtis brought to the door steps of the neighborhood and must be considered (in my book) "The man who invented "Street Soul"! Yes the brother is gone, but not forgotten by this fan!
First time i heard Curtis mayfield i was in high school,he became my favorite singer. That was decades ago.On that list i have since added Marvin Gaye and Rick James. Now thats music.
i'm only 44, but this is what my parents bought me up on.i remember my dad had the album too the movie ''SUPERFLY''.he would play that record everyday.mr.mayfield has one of the greatest voices in music period.why is it so hard too find greats like this today?today's music (2000's) ''except for a few'' all sounds alike, same shitty beats, and can't sing worth shit.auto-tune has destroyed music.it's all about bitches, cars, money, bling, drank & promoting ignorance & stupidity. the 60's-90's 4ever.
@str8outtatexas1 your just a grumpy bastard man. Every decade has produced a plethora of absolutely shit music. Damn even Cliff Richard tried to rip off Elvis Pressley in '58 to sell records. It has happened since the dawn of rock 'n' roll... you should take the music from 'back in the day' off its pedestal - it only seems like it was all good now because the shit music of yesteryear (about 95% of music from 'back in the day' has fallen by the wayside).
@6billiondeaths -You don't know what the fuck YOU'RE talking about. As soon as you mentioned elvis I knew right then that I was dealing with an Non knowledgeable pussy. Keep your young, less than knowledgeable ass off of curtis mayfield video's trying to school or tell me about music from the past. I think you typed in the wrong video. You're done before you even started. With that comment, I along with others know you don't know shit about the decline or destruction of true R&B.
@str8outtatexas1 Just saying 'you don't know what the fuck you're talking about' an then not backing up what you say with any evidence what so ever is piss weak. I never slated "real" R 'n' B or denied that it has changed (some would say for the worse). My point was that your a miserable cunt living in the past, there was good music 'back then' - there is good music now, to write off an entire decades/generations worth of music shows how fucking knowledgeable you are.
@6billiondeaths black music is no where near as good today as it was in the 70,s and 80,s. who are you trying to fool? name 5 good songs in the last 10 years and i will name 5 better ones from the 70,s and 80,s...
@rupertreddle That's a matter of opinion and nothing more. I could name 5 songs and undoubtedly you would name me 5 others which are better. The reason why older songs seem better (and I also have this feeling about many songs) is because we were brought up on them, because they're still as relevant now as they were 30-40 years ago and because music changes. There can only be one Stevie Wonder, one Marvin Gaye, one Curtis Mayfield.
@rupertreddle I take issue with the assumption that there is no good music out there now, that the only good music is that from the past. It's bullshit. Music changes and evolves all the time and just because somebody doesn't make music that sounds exactly like Curtis Mayfield in 2012 does not mean their music loses all credibility.
@rupertreddle My original point said nothing about music now being better than music back then. I love music and listen to all sorts, contemporary, modern, black white, whatever label you wish to give. I don't like the whiny, middle aged shite of "music these days" and "when I were a lad.." etc etc. Music changes, you don't have to like it but to completely write it off is so ignorant and for me, totally against the spirit of what music is supposed to represent.
@6billiondeaths Where do you want me to start? NO SUBSTANCE,NO CREATIVITY,NO CRITICAL THINKING, ONE-DIMENSIONAL MATERIAL ect. I listen to some of today's music, but 85% of it is repetitive garbage. Man theres people in their 20's & 30's of all colors have said the same shit about today's music. Answer this question, what happened to R&B,Hip-hop, & funk GROUPS? These fucking music executives promotes what sells, bitches, image, cars, money, guns, drugs, bling, drink ect. NOTHING POSITIVE! Prove me wrong.
@str8outtatexas1 I even said in my first comment that 95% of music back in the day was bullshit and it was only the good stuff that welisten to today that survived - that's why everyone thinks music was the best back then. Today the ratio (for me) is the same - 95% of music out there today is bullshit. My point was there is still some interesting, innovative stuff being made and that completely disregarding it is does music and the select few talented artists a disservice.
@str8outtatexas1You also do yourself a disservice - if you close yourself off to specific genre's or era's of music then you ultimately just deprive yourself of the opportunity of hearing that next life affirming song. I know, for an absolute certainty, that I would never want to do that.
An eruption of bass and brass in a rhythmic flow, close your eyes and hear that nasty ass organ. Drummer beat that shit. Enticing those cymbals with that stick, all on a down stroke, Curtis your alluring vocals is so damn soulful. You are the cool breeze. The Rhapsody of Curtis Mayfield. Im " So In Love"
this is the panty dropper! I had my eyes closed the whole time I was listening to this, having flash backs to the time when I was soooo in love ; ) I hope I get to feel that way again in life.
All I can say is....."my my my". What happened to the passion in music. This groove just takes you away to a place where all is well in the world. Thanks for rekindling this old 'soul' once again.
I just love this song I keep listening to it over and over the other day I was in the car with my kids cousin who is about 15 years younger than me and this song came on I was so excited I love this song.
@tylercurvelo You got that right. Curtis always had the best horn and string arrangements. It always reminds me of a big city at night. Don't know why though.
