This was recorded in the Cathrdral in Montreal, as part of Christmas program. This is the Sanctus from Berlioz Requiem. It it meltingly beautiful, especially for teh wondrous fugue in the middle, and the ethereal children's chorus. I was preiveleged to have heard Pavarotti live in recital in Atlanta, March 4, 1978, a few months before this recording. He was astonishing, just Luciano, a piano and 1200 transfixed listeners. He was one of out earthy treasures of the 20th century. He is missed. RIP.
I was crying for joy 30 seconds into this, it is a beautiful tribute to one of the finest men given to us to share his music with mankind. Thank you for sharing this awesome performance with us.
I think this is how he should be remembered, and all the charity-inspired cringe-inducing 'cross-over' rubbish of 'Pavarotti and Friends' politely forgotten as an unfortunate means to a worthy end.
A lovely recording!! Thank you xakalyes for the upload!

This, all by itself, forgives all the rest.
