  • I have commented on this before but now I have a question! When you say get an extra seat...I only have one seat reserved for myself..and I have my 2 month old son...so how would I know not to put the carseat with the luggage? who would i ask?? Its my 1st time flying commercially! Ive always flown military where its mandatory your child has a seat.

  • @christynjohn09 oh and I herd you can push the stroller all the way to the gate? Can You leave the carseat on it?

  • you just dont travel with kids, let alone babies! they make EVERYBODY cranky...

  • Hate to say it but wearing babies on plane rides is dangerous. The baby becomes your airbag and can get injured more than you, or even killed in the result of a crash. I commend you for bringing your car seat on the plane though! Safest for baby! Griffin is just adorable and I love his name!

  • where did you get that adorable baby carrier?

  • i just traveled from india to cambridge, around 12 hours flight and my baby is 4 and half months and except for like 2 hours all she did was NURSE! she was great during the flight, in the airport was the problem. stupid of me i didnt carry the baby carrier and she just wouldn sit in the stroller!

  • thanks this really helped, I plan on taking a trip to visit my father, my lil girl is 6months.

  • I just traveled from Florida alllll the way to Okinawa Japan with my 6 week old son by myself. We took "military" flights and it took a total of 6 days to get to my destination! My BIGGEST advice is be hands free, instead of a diaper bag bring a back pack it saved me sooo much hassle!

  • @christynjohn09 That trip is the WORST!!!

  • @LMPM0909 Yes it is now we are working on coming home! Took me 6 1/2 days to get here I can only imagine the way back!

  • This answered alot of questions I had about flying with baby, thanks for posting it.

  • I'm going to be flying from Portland, Oregon to Dallas, Texas and my baby will be three months old. I was debating whether to get an aisle seat or a window seat, and this helped me choose window seat. Definitely want that extra privacy for breastfeeding. Thank you for this video!

  • i will be traveling international alone with my 8 month old soon ...admittedly very nervous ..will follow the tips.. thank you.

  • Oh wow, this is a great video, I'm planing to travel to my native country Ecuador with my 6 months all Olivia, and all your tips come handy. I have to admit, I'm scare, but i will put all your tips on practice, and i will let you know how it went, thanks again

  • Oh my gosh your baby is sooo cute!!!

  • Planning to take my son when he is 9 months adjusted age, however he is on oxygen so Im not sure how that is going to go, or if they even allow oxygen tanks on planes

  • 10 weeks. That's when LO took her first flight.

  • @MamaNaturalBlog What is the theme song in the beginning of the video ?

  • hi i might be traveling next month and my dauther will be three month old at the time is thiere any tips you can give me and how would i be able to nurse her on the plane

  • Awe Griffin is beautiful

  • @TheOfficialMG THank you!

  • Thanks for this. I'm planning of traveling to Bali with my daughter who will be 20 mths.. not really a baby but you video give me a little more confidence... oh yeah... and I'll be traveling solo. Just me and her!!

  • @CraftyKoo Good luck, mama! Hope it goes great!

  • Hey

We are traveling from Finland to New Zealand next saturday. We have a 2 yr old and a 1month old. The 2 yrold has herown seat. But I was wondering if i should risk taking a car seat for the baby.We will also have a stroller and im thinking the baby equpiment is mounting up and what happens tothe car seat if theres no spare seats for it?

Helpful video, just one thing about the window seat, i heard the opposite from others regarding the aisle seat being better for feeding and access.

  • @liljnnaps1 Good luck mama! You can bring the carseat and if it doesn't fit in the plane, they will check it for you at the gate. I like the window seat best because it's more private and peaceful.

  • I am having my baby in 1 week and me and my husband will be taking our baby on a ferry to Ireland at the start of the year, what is the can't-live-without items when travelling with a newborn?

    God Bless

  • thanx for ur traveling tips and ur videos it help me alot...now I'm 35weeks and after born my baby, I'm going back to my own island (Kiribati) and I'll be travel with my one -two month old baby by myself. now I'm in Hawaii and I came here for vacation and I get stuck here....it is my first time mom too....I what to ask for help for car seat that approve FAA. what brand car seat?... thank u and again I like ur videos.

  • We like the tip of taking your own car seat with you on trip !

Our tip is to attach the seat to a gogo Kidz Travelmate (from Go-Go Babyz) !

  • I know this sounds like a silly question, but what do you do with the carseat and stroller when you board the plane? I know they store them for you, but how did that go? I've got a big stroller and carseat, not just an umbrella stroller.

  • @sixpence516 The airline took the car seat and stroller fraome at the gate. Easy, peasy. I think they would do the same with a bigger stroller as well. It went very well. Also, we asked the airline attendant at the gate if there was any open seats so that we could put the car seat directly into a seat. We were able to do this with one flight and it was awesome since Griffin then truly had his own "seat" versus having to sit in one of our laps. Hope this helps and good luck! XO.

  • @MamaNaturalBlog you are giving horrible advise bringing the extra clothes didnt work because i have twins adn they got jet leg and they were pooping nonstop and it was down there back every time plz give me more advise

  • When i went to france with my mom a and baby sister i thought it would be the worst flight ever but i shared this video with my mom and she did some of the things you said and she cryed once during take for 2 minutes thank you so much for the video.

  • @summergirl6599 Awesome to hear! Thanks so much for sharing... XOXO.

  • Thank you so much for your tips! We are flying from New York to Florida with my 11 weeks old baby boy!!! I am joking saying that I will probably be one of those moms on a plane that everybody hates because her baby is crying non stop:) wish me luck! And the sky in the end of your video was absolutely gorgeous!!!!

  • @MsLoraBella GOOD LUCK, Mama! Remember, you WILL land and it WILL be over, no matter how much crying :).

  • @MamaNaturalBlog what about passengers? They tend to get fussy over a baby getting fussy.

  • love traveling with our children. our first was 12 weeks, 2nd was 6 weeks when they first traveled. neither has ever cried or fussed for more than a minute or two. we also try to pick times to travel that fall within nap time, so they're naturally tired. or over a meal time, passes time quickly...then often snooze. an ipod with movies has been a great thing for our oldest now, as well. another big one for us is car seat...we never travel without them, they're use to them and they're comfy

  • @willabewallabe iPod with movies is good idea! Griff isn't there yet but will be soon enough :).

  • @cockwiper i agree taking a baby on a plane at all is not a good idea!

  • Im going to be flying in december with a 2 week old, 21 hour flight, with 4 stops thank god i have an overnight stopover or id be tearing my hair out

  • lets see my mom took me to disneyworld. It was my first time on a plane and I was 9 at the time

  • If you read the carriers it says not to use on an airplane, I'm not sure if it's referring to take off and landing either. We'll be taking the Ergo for our 1yr old, but I'm pretty sure it will only be used to get to the gate.

This will be our first trip with our son.

  • We haven't done any traveling yet, but we usually don't do planes. We have 2 very long car trips coming up (one 15 hours and then 2 weeks later one that's 8 hours) and I am a little nervous about how our 8 month old will do. Hopefully she'll sleep some. My son never went on long car trips as a baby so this is a new avenue for me. Not many road trip videos, so maybe I should catalog our experiences. It will also be our 1st time cloth diapering on vacation. EEK! Here's to hoping all goes well!

  • @CrazyLeoMom I find that it helps to sit in the backseat after a few hours to keep the baby entertained or soothed. Good luck! Kudos to you with cloth diapering on vaca :). XO.

  • when i travel i leave my baby girl with mommy , but one time i travel with her , it was fun and there was cry moment , but i give her prastmol and she slipt and wake up fresh

  • I took my baby girl from Tennessee to Utah when she was 7 months old, and I don't think I could have done it any earlier than that and had both of us kept our sanity. She was awesome, though! Your tips are right on. I just nursed her every time we took off and every time we landed and she didn't fuss at all! It was great only having one leg on the way there, but on the way back, there were 3 legs (ugh!), the last one being an only 45 minute flight, but it was by far the worst one.

  • i took my son for his first plane ride when he was 5 months old and i am planning a grayhound trip to the grand canyon next month and he will be almost 3 years old.

  • Put the baby in the luggage bag, job done.

  • your son is so cute

  • @pokelover66544 Aw, thanks :).

  • We're traveling cross country in a couple months... my baby will be just over 1 year. I'd also love to hear about changing diapers on the plane if you have any tips! Thanks!

  • @mommyholic Ugh, diaper changes are hard. We did it in the airplane bathroom. You can close up toliet and put diaper changing pad down and try there. Not ideal but works. You can also do at your seat if it's just a number 1 and you have empty seats around you. Good luck!

  • Your baby is adorable

  • @LuvZippy Aw, thanks!

  • Here' my travel tip: Don't travel with a BABY!!!!

  • Hi mamanatural, I plan on plain traveling with my baby once he is around 3 months old. I need to bring my infant car seat with me and I don't know how should i bring it. Should I check in the car seat or bring it to me to the gate and also do you know of what kind of bag should fit a car seat like this (like a check in bag?).. TIA for yous answer..

  • @latitiko Hi! We brought ours to the gate since it was part of our stroller. (We checked the base) If yours isn't, then I would check it unless you can bring on the plane with you and put in an extra seat. (Airlines will sometimes let you do this if they have an extra seat available.) This is super ideal because then baby has his/her own space. We didn't bring a bag to put in as the airlines usually put in a large plastic bag for you. Hope this helps!

  • @MamaNaturalBlog I had to travel with my daughter jessica at 10 days across country flight then london to LA for a family funeral, it is tough but she did good, I kept her carseat with me and sang to her while nursing and kept her as calm as I could, shes now 6 months old and im 22 weeks pregnant with my second baby

  • any tips for changing diapers on a plane? thanks!

  • @RhinoSanderson

    you're a jerk.

  • we're traveling tomorrow.. oh boy.... my baby is 14 months old. His first flight was when he was 2 months-and he slept through.. it was so easy. we changed three flights. domestic, international and domectic again. now we'll see how he does tomorrow :)))i dint have enough room for toys i hope he'll do okay.

  • @gunesgun Oh, good luck! Remember, it will be over soon :).

  • Thanks for sharing! :0)

  • Our first plane ride will be when baby is about 2-3 weeks old. Its earlier then I want, but its an important family event. I plan to have my moby wrap and will nurse when needed. Plus my hubby will be there to help.

  • I'll be taking my first plane trip with Cartier on April 19, he will be exactly 6 weeks old. I booked an early morning flight there, but a late night flight back. I hope that all goes well on our trip to see his grandparents for the first time. Thanks for the tips!

  • @benz2silent Good luck! If he's that young, he should sleep on night flight, no problem. Enjoy your time!

  • I know this question has nothing to do with this video, but how do you get Griffin to nap during the day? What is your routine for putting him down? My son is almost 5 months old, and up until recently we only had him napping in his swing, but we've packed that away and are now trying to get him to nap in his crib. It is proving difficult, I nurse him just before and usually he will fall asleep but once I put him down he wakes up and cries. I've been trying to let him cry it out.

  • @mylifeisapuzzle Oh, sister, getting Griffin to nap as been the bane of my existence... LOL! It takes tons of practice, patience & routine. I've found the key is not to let him get overtired. It's so much easier this way! At 5 months, Griffin wasn't awake for more than 2 hours at a stretch. He took 3 naps a day & bedtime was 6:30 pm. If your son cries in crib, I would stay in room w/ him & soothe him with "shh" noises but keep him in the crib. He'll get the hang of it! Email me if u have more ?s

  • @MamaNaturalBlog Thank you so much! Not many mamas around here to relate to who actually are GOOD mamas so I always feel like I'm so alone! It's good to know I'm not the only one with difficulties. LOL

  • How do you go with taking bulky baby gear on a plane? For example you mentioned the carseat or something I think? And in terms of stroller and travel bed... we plan on travelling when our baby is about 3 months old and I'm really wondering whether my husband shouldn't just take a couple of extra days off work so we can drive. I don't know which would be more hassle - a full day in the car each way or travelling with a baby on a plane!

  • @nikkiandvince Hi, we used Griffin's stroller that is essentially a frame with wheels for his carseat. We rolled it right up to the gate and they checked everything there. Most hotels will have cribs available but we recently stayed in a cabin so brought along a pack and play. We checked it with our big luggage so didn't have to carry around very much.Yes, we thought about driving instead of flying but thought the flight would be less painful. It was shorter and Griff could move around more.

  • @MamaNaturalBlog Thanks for your answer! We have a travel system like yours so that might work... I guess I'll have to just check with the airline about what they will carry for free or at what cost. It's a family event so we probably won't be in a hotel to take advantage of having a crib provided.

  • wonderful video. we love to travel too and some of those things i wouldve never thought of. especially the witching hour, which usually is novas fussy time. thank you guys!

  • @fcossell Oh good, glad it helped!

  • great tips! hubby and I plan to be travling parents as well! I think its silly when people give up their love and desire to travel because they have kids or babies. :)
