इस्लाम के आगमन काल से ये भव्य देव स्थल इस्लामिक ज़ेहादिओं के निशाने पर रहे हैं. गौरी,अब्दाली, खिलज़ी जैसे सैंकड़ों मुस्लिम आक्रान्ताओं ने मंदिरों को लूटा और मिस्मार किया. फिर भी हिन्दुओं की आस्था में कोई कमी नहीं देखने को मिली - मगर किसी धर्माचार्य ने इन देवालयों की धन संपदा को इनकी और हिन्दू समाज की हिफाज़त के लिए सदुपयोग की नहीं सोची. मुस्लिम मज़हब के रहनुमा इस लूट के धन को मज़हब को फ़ैलाने और मज़बूत... करने पर खर्च करते . चर्च ने तो अपनी सेना और शस्त्रागार तक बना रखे थे.

हिन्दुओं के हजारों मंदिर मुगलों द्वारा लूटे और गिराए गए. अब्दाली ने हिन्दुओं के पवित्र धरम स्थल मथुरा -वृन्दावन और गोकुल के पवित्र मंदिरों को ही नहीं तोडा बल्कि एक हिन्दू के सिर की कीमत ५/- रूपए लगा दी . अफगान सैनिकों ने मासूम हिन्दू बच्चों के सरों के ढेर लगा दिए . मथुरा के पांडे मंदिरों को छोड़ भाग खड़े हुए. सिर्फ नांगा साधुओं ने अफगान सैनिको का सामना किया और बहुत से सैनिक मार गिराए .अहमदशाह अब्दाली ने जब सिखों के 'मक्का' हरमंदिर साहेब को मिस्मार करने के लिए हमला किया तो sakdon log maare gaye
