As much as I think that Bruce is one of the best heavy metal singers (I AM MAIDENHEAD!!!), I think he couldn't pull off some crazy shit LaBrie has done (tha crazy "whoa" singing in Learning to Live before the Petrucci's solo was excellent singing). So stop trashing the poor guy, you haven't experienced food poisoning (I have) and you don't know what it does to your voice.

mike portnoy is a little overbearing live. actually, he's not overbearing AT ALL anymore live. it's like the perfect ratio of volume now. as a highly enthusiastic DT fan, definitely no stabs at mike, just saying he has a lot of energy and it's hard to control ur volume with so much energy.

ive seen alot of the great singers live: dio, bruce dickinson, geoff tate, some of the stuff they pull off but sometimes they don't carry a note or it's weaker than recorded but james and the above mentioned are still great at what they do, after all a voice is human and is subject to change whereas a drumkit or guitar is the same night after night...........nonetheless great band

labrie got poisoned in 1996 , during a holiday in cuba...vomiting, he breaked his vocal chords ...infact if you see some videos or listen to live performances during 1996 - 2002 his voice was terrible...

LaBrie has some off performances, but overall, he's a good singer. The Score DVD is a perfect example of how good he can be live. And obviously the rest of them kick ass too.

It took a while for me to get used to Labrie, and at times I still don't like his voice, but eventually I realized that I've never heard anyone else that could fit as the singer for Dream Theater. As much as I try to imagine it, anyone else would be awkward.

I hope the line-up they have now stays until the end. These guys are the best in my book.

Dream Theater is truely an entertainer group! I second the comment that LaBrie is a bad singer... DO IT BETTER!!! You couldn't touch this artistic and soulfull presentation with any other.
