An electric bike is PERFECT for trials riding because electric MOTORS make ALL OF THEIR TORQUE from 1 rpm on up. Trials is ALL about torque and quick response. The electric motor has this as its' very most basic characteristic. 100% of it's TORQUE from 1 rpm on AND they run better as they GET HOTTER! You could urban ride this with NO NOTICE. As long as the battery life is good and it doesn't take to long to charge, it'd be sweet. Imagine it in a skate park!
this is the future...embrace it. will allow urban riding with no complaints! Needs to be lighter and a more sophisticated power management system. Will come in time and be an obvious advantage over gas. I'm 50 years old, believe me I love the smells etc... too,but things change you know! :)
Great, with this bike you get no stress in the field. I trained years with my four stroke 450 KTM cross country, and had allways stress with the people. In my opinion it's opnly the noise ! Looking forward to my elektirk bike, this will be the future in case of no noise polution!
@towlenWOW Well, electricity can come from wind, tidal, damn, and thermal/solar energy as well as nuclear. So it's not all fossil fuels, and in fact can come 100% from the above listed sourced (Geo thermal being #1 potential).
@JcXtreme72 Weight of 63 kg; Range of 45 to 120 minutes; 80% battery charge in just 1 hour, 100% in 2½ hours; source: gasgasmotos . es / en / trial / 380-txt-e . html
You could go straigt from mtb or bmx to this with out much training add the rear brake to the bars aswell would make it easy for younger kids to use and easyerfor the pass over from bmx to trails alround winner
its not the point though when the battery wears down the fun is gone you go slower and you cant accelerate for your life thats why engine is beetter due to no slowing its all 100% the refule and !00% again no slowing
@pip3214 Agreed. gas bikes go 100% until they need to refule and it will most likely last longer with one tank than a fully charged battery for the electric bike
Until it's fast, I'm not caring. In NYC it's about being stylish and daring, and more importantly - staying out of police custody thank you very much.
@atvrem it´s in the range of an 250cc gas engine and about 3kg less in weight. 65kg full filled :) We had about 2 hours running time in training and 4 hours in competition.
I guess my main thing is that electric will only do you any good if you are near power. If, like most electric motorcycles, it can only run for an hour or so or around 30 miles what do you do if you are out away from power? You are done and don't get to ride anymore. With gas, you just bring more, which is no problem.
@TheManFromAlaska This is a very good point , but bat tech has got so much better/lighter/higher power densities over the years so you could get a second set of battery's ( you could be 30miles away from a filling station ). .. Just got to wait for the cost of the battery's to come down in price so its possible to have 4 or 5 sets ready to go :-) .
The battery that Im running on my light weight bike 1 set weighs in less than 5L of fuel, I agree it will not be very practical for free riding but if running in a event or just playing in one area then having sets of battery's ready to go is doable.
@TheManFromAlaska ''stealthelectricbikes'' they are a electric downhill mountain bike, so they have pedals to lesson the power consumption to make it home and if they run out of juice you still can peddle, just a little bit harder than a normal bike! :)
Looks SWEET! MANUFACTURERS NOTE: We need a clutch for trials... All electric bikes to date, feature a rear brake where the clutch should be. In trials, we need power that is like a light switch to do really big moves like splatters to get up very large obstacles. I know electric motors have great torque, but you can not get instant response by twisting your wrist 90 degrees in 1 second. You want to build power in the flywheel and release with the finger. I hope this can be developed!
Interesting... At first I didn't see your point, but now I get it... I think your suggestion would work! Note to Manufacturers... Please make sure version 1.0 has this feature! (preferably implemented where the clutch lever would go...). Oh, one more thing.. When can we buy one!??
Fuck the electric trial it doesnt sounds anything! :(
