Hi Yeah, I owned that Eg 101 for a while but got rid in the end, I do own an MC 303, Which i use from time to time, But for serious Midi sequencing I Use the Yamaha Rm1x & sometimes the onboard sounds, but the rm1x can control everybit of hardware in my current setup (: One great thing about the eg 101 was the light controller Which my roland sh01 has got aswell.

I use reason 5 but find it impossible to do synthesis. Its way over my head and i find its very boring and very annoying and very hard to do.. all the rewiring when flipping the rack around is a real pain.Mind you ive been at for only a few weeks. spotted this rompler for use in DAWS and wow.. jzarfas makes playing one of the presets sound great. shame bout the upload quality.I cant play a keyboard like that but i have a midi keybord for doodling bass lines but no way could i play lead like that

@Shuitcake Have you used nexus? Its a soft synth Romplayer, With synth like settings the Soundbanks are presets Just as you would find in a Standalone keyboard! and there all tweakable & still make your own sounds, If your into computer based music then the chances are you will use VST Programs like nexus, & If your into Real analogue synth's like me then You will use both, Personally I prefer analogue But, If your budgets low then Try VST's.as 4 cheating No, way u still got to create ur work!

@jzarfas Yes I tried it out and had an quite cool piece written in half a day which all my friends praised. It was shocking how little effort it needed. I asked a more experienced musician and he had the viewpoint that using Nexus is like working your way around learning proper synthesis, which is something every electronic musician should know. Today I work with various VSTs but plan to get a moog someday. Mostly I create my synths from scratch but also use tweaked presets from time to time.

@Shuitcake Its an interesting point, actually. Where do you draw the line? Is using an auto gate cheating? Is triggering a noise gate with a drum machine's CV/Gate output cheating? Is using a sequencer cheating? Is using sheet music cheating? Do you have to draw a line at all? In the end all that matters is the sound coming out of the speakers. Nobody ever walked off a dance floor because they thought the artist used tools that made his life too easy. Only other musicians get snobbish about it.

@NoLeafxClover8 Thanks mate, Yeah you just get any Keyboar With Midi Out Cos thats how it sends the Notes you play Into the Pc via soundcard With midi input Or a Midi Interface, Then You need A program like Cubase or Fruity loops, as the host, then you need to obtain refx nexus and install into Cubase vst directories , Then Play the soft Synth/ rom Synth with Your keybaord, Good luck best wishes Jamie (:

@NoLeafxClover8 Sorry for Late reply I Have been Away, You can use FL studio 9, All you need is a keyboard with midi out or You can buy a Midi controller Keyboard, I Have an old M audio radium & It does the job well, Some midi controllers/keyboards connect Via Usb Mine does So You do not need a dedicated midi interface as It does it for you, When you run Fl9 Go into midi options and make sure the Controller or Midi input Via interface is Enabled then It will work, Hope this helps
