i think it is a strong posibility that we will see Phelps take on the 200 back in London 2012. It is very posible because Phelps has publically stated that he will not be swimming the 400 IM and other select events that he no longer is motivated in, and he has not yet swam the 200 back at an olympic game even though he excels at it.

I read that he might get into the 50 freestyle event. Michael is gonna make a decision between the 200 back and the 200IM. I Think he's gonna race the following races from now on: 200fly, 200, 100 freestyle, 100back and THE 200IM.
I was a grade or two above Lochte... His dad wanted to train me year-round. I just didn't have it in me to dedicate the time it took to swim under his dad (and I declined my college offers as well). Anyone who chooses that path and trains as hard as these guys deserve to be in the limelight. Anyone who thinks "waterboarding" is torture... try going to practice w/ Lochte or Phelps!!! Phelps has beaten both Lochte and Peirsol in the 200 back in several World Championships.

At Rome I think he is choosing 200 back, not 100, as 3794 said 100 back is the same day as 200 free. He will drop 400 IM and ad 100 free.
