  • I know I shouldnt be, but im so jealous of these incredibly talented human beings.

  • Vedder is awful. Quite rude really to Bill Berry. He should have taken notes from Springsteen's brilliant induction speech for U2.

  • @EmitFlestiKY oh my god. Im sure Vedder asked for permission from Berry to tell that joke. Get a grip will you. Berry is laughing. So why arent you?

  • @EmitFlestiKY that's true all of them are friends, It's probabley that pearl jam and nirvana will enter the rock and roll hall of fame in the first year of elegibility, nirvana would enter in 2014, wouldn't they?

  • Peter Buck is so drunk. Look at him drinking that wine. He keeps drifting off looking into space and grabbing on to Bill Berry. What a sloppy drunk.

  • Great speech because it's honest and from the heart and not scripted bullshit.

  • Worst speech ever. Sorry, love Eddie and REM but this is rambling and dumb. See Edge and Tom Morello induct The Clash...short sweet and to the point.

  • Worst speech ever. Sorry, love Eddie and REM but this is rambling and dumb. See Edge induct The Clash...short sweet and to the point.

  • I'm going to guess the reason he's so slow is that maybe public speaking makes him nervous and he smoked some of the good herb before coming out. Or, that he is a thoughtful individual. I'm leaning toward both as I've been a fan for over 10 yrs and have seen him live several times.

  • I wish I was there

  • "Please stand -- remain standing." Make them uncomfortable. Nice going Michael.

  • What would shock the hell out of me? Billy Berry shaves his brows bald and rejoins REM! That would be fucking awesome

  • No it's not, really tho. I can see why some people call a hall of shame, but seriously some inductees shouldn't be in there and there are many that do,and there will be tons of more to be in.

  • @animal90sFreak5 there are personal opinions, for me It isnt a roll and roll hall of shame either, because a lot of bands that I loved were awarded like they deserved, but a lot of people were inducted many times and It's not fair, for instance jeff beck had entered as a yardbirds member, why he entered as a solo member again and so quickly? at the same time, deep purple the pioneer band in the heavy didn't do it. I want to make it clear that I agree with madonna's induction

  • The rock and roll hall of fame is so incredibly silly and meaningless but I did really enjoy Eddie's speech. He seems like a very cool guy.

  • does someone knows who is the girls which was crying at 2.33?

  • @cmip11

I believe that is Peter Buck's exwife Stephanie. The two blondes are Mike's exgirl friend and current girlfriend (as of the ceremony).

  • Not bad for a band the critics said would never make a gold record and split up in like two years. Peter doesnt believe in mainstream opinions, that's why he looks a bit bored. He laughed at the critics too.

  • the amazing part is that after a couple of years they became critic favourites. strange, huh?

  • Him mentioning Cobain, brought a tear to my eye aswell as the audience =,)

  • same hea.... damn... am sure he misses him a lot.. RIP Kurt...

  • Peter Buck looks like he doesn't give a fuck (2)

He also looks drunk. ahah. He's cool.

  • Petes in for the music, not the awards.

  • MIKE MILLS IS THE BEST

  • Peter Buck looks like he doesn't give a fuck

I wish he'd said a few words instead of stipe

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE that he mentions

    Kurt Cobain (R.I.P.)

    and Thom Yorke

    all GODS

  • R.E.M. is so great! I'm thankful that Eddie talks about Kurt because I was thinking what he said because Nirvana introduced me to R.E.M. However this night is all about R.E.M. and they DESERVE all of the attention. Amazine band!

  • The way Eddie talks about Kurt is awesome.

    Such a great man.

  • fuckin amazing band!

  • Eddie is the finest man ever!

  • de la Rocha? at 6.24

  • fucking farmer

  • no shit XD

  • Eddie did nail the description of REM as far as them painting a mural. Listen to REM on earphones at night and your mind will be on a journey that looks like painting.

  • I love how he says he wished it was Kurt Cobain giving the speech then him.

  • @kiopelus Yeah...kinda hard not to break down a bit when he said that.

  • very moving speech from vedder... great

  • vedder should have mentioned bill berry's contributions like he did with michael, peter, and mike

  • your totally right!

  • When you really love a band/lyricist it is difficult for most of us to articulate why. What Ed says about Murmur, the summer of '84, Michael's ability to open up huge parts of the listener's psyche, etc. all rings so true to me. To a tee. Not only does it say a lot about why I love early REM, but why I love Pearl Jam and Ed.

  • I'm sorry, but that is/was a brilliant, brilliant speech.

  • fuck you all eddies there your not

  • no 'tard, REM are there, eddie drags coat tails, feck him....

  • you create something..

  • you obviously have bad taste in music

  • eddie is my musical god. But i now realise hes funny too!!! wow he rules

  • Bill Berry wrote the music for Everybody hurts and a number of other great R.E.M. songs. So yes, Bill was definily of great importance to R.E.M.'s music, besides of his great drumming. And he's STILL a great drummer, listen to the songs R.E.M. had played this night, Bill really rocks!

  • check out Zach de la Rocha behind Patti Smith at 6:25

  • yep its zach!!!ratm should be inducted soon!

  • R.E.M. is great!

Will put out a new album in a while =)

  • Never liked rem much. Ed Vedder fucking rules though!

  • Yes, not a good speech. But I think he loved this band, so that might explain some of it.

  • I was hoping they'd get a B-52 or Bono to give the speech. Vedder was ok, but he should have underscored the importance of Bill Berry's musical contributions, not the aneurysm - I mean, the other 3 are hyped for their musical ability, and he is probably the MOST musical of all 4.

  • Yeah, I thought that was a little disrespectful too, building up the others and only telling a silly little anecdote about Bill, which was only told to raise a laugh. Don't get me wrong though, I love Eddie Vedder, it's just this wasn't his most sensitive moment, which is a bit ironic...Eddie Vedder...Not sensitive...Impossible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • anyone know who the crying woman is?

  • peter's drunk

  • He made them proud

  • vedder is amazing. his speech was great compared to velvet revolver's. best speech of the night.

  • Does anybody know where I can download the Hall of Fame, I would be happy with just REM's induction.

  • rockyjazz. what a loser! vedder is a legend

  • yes i agree vedder is a good singer and pearl jam was a great band but God i mean prepare a speech before you present it . If this was a attempt at one then shit its bad

  • quite the contrary, when I hear Ed's voice I'm awake!

  • REM is good band but this guy just makes you want to Zzzzzzzzz

  • this fucker is sooo annoying he talks like he has shit in his mouth and hes so fucking robotic and slow

  • this fucker is one of the best ever i guess you do not know who eddie vedder is.

  • Of course i know who eddie vedder is but this is very boring on his part i mean know what your going to say before you say it

  • Zack de la Rocha seems to be "claptonised" a lil' (behind Patti Smith)
