@Paulfieldz The UK is England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Great Britain is an island. The British Isles are the collection of islands of the north west coast of Europe. They would refer to it as "UK and Ireland" because ROI is not part of the UK. It is still in the British Isles though. None of the other islands are technically "British" either, but they still fall into that group.

It reeks of jingoism, and I've yet to see a person use it who is not British of a very jingoistic, Europhobic bent.

hehe the southern ones a bit iffy - and the welsh lol - but the others really spot-on - ofcourse there is more than one welsh accent, more than one scottish etc etc and accents vary over such short distances in uk... notts, derby and leicster noticeably different for example - only 10-15 miles apart! i love the british and irish isles... i'm good at accents - reckon i could give him a run for his money
