  • what is the red line on one of these little basterds?

  • So.. How much for a set of these heads??

  • What is that type of exhaust called? I have seen a few of them on Beetles and wondered about them. Is it just for sound or does it do anything for performance?

  • @urbex2007 megaphone, i think its just loud. but there must be some basic go fast principle from the 60's in effect here. you see them alot on small displacement high revving super loud go nowhere engines alot...

  • they're called Stingers. They're the equivalent of running straight pipes on say, a V8

  • Stingers add more power then straight pipes as they create 'vacume' reducing backpressure of exhaust gasses. adds about 5% more HP

  • @fatsubsonic i can vouch for that!

  • its sound and performance but basically sound

  • Didn't mean to RUFFLE any feathers here with my LACK OF KNOWLEDGE at the time I posted this video. It is 043 casting, ported by the Brothers Machine shop. These heads won 2nd place @ the last VW trends dyno day, 185hp on a chasis dyno inside of Sinjin Tigers bug. I'll post the specs later today.

  • You can call them stock if the are stock in the first place. Now other than stock is if you have a pair of say CB Performance "Street Eliminators" or "Comp Eliminators". Or Pauter, AutoCraft, or Super Flo.

I know that stock heads in stock configuration will NOT produce that much HP. I was just trying to figure out what "groovylu" meant by stock heads.

  • cant have stock heads on a motor that is bigger than a 1776 the got to be machined

  • @tomc4x4 you cant put 1776 barrels in a stock head either.

  • 42 x 37.5 valves and wedge ports don't make those heads stock. those are modified. so i guess that's a stock engine making 230 hp just with a bigger crank, bigger p's and c's, a bigger cam and bigger carbs.when you say stock heads i thought you meant pulling them off a 1600 and putting them on this and making 230hp with ports the size of a quarter and stock valves.

  • Look you numb-nuts, you can use stock heads. I guess you all never heard of port and polish, big valves, big cam, etc.

You guys are just a bunch of turbo-lovers who can't deal with the truth!

  • they inlet ports would need machining for better flow, and the exhausts the same, they would also need massive valves and highlift rockers, and then as has been said they need to be machined for any engine 1776 and above as the cyl wont fit the bore of the head.

therefore they may be vw made, but far from stock

  • stock heads??? yer maybe

  • If this is true you have to recalibrate your dyno...

  • Stock heads my ass.

  • HAHAHA and thats it. :-)

  • WOW....

  • for that sise 230hp is impressive, now put it on a street bike, or a go-kart

  • the head may be stock...

just a high lift camshaft and reinforced valve springs.....

but the head is still stock. (I don't think it is)

  • that is FUCKING BEAUTIFUL...lol. id like to put that in my '71 haha

  • got some single ports pushin 300 hp...with a single shot 250 nitros

  • LOL I don't think the single port would even make 200hp with the 250hp shot on there! back to commenting the video. "RAWR-RAWR!" damn love to have a drag car to take out every other weekend.

  • 230 HP using stock style heads maybe, I bet they are welded, ported, CC'd, valves, guides, 11.5:1 comp. FK87, 1.4:1 etc, etc

HP is in the heads mate. Still awesome job.

  • lmao im runnin about 45

  • yeah, well my stock heads are pushing 34bhp. 5 stars man

  • I highly doubt they are 'stock' heads. Surely they have bigger valves at the very least. Modified vw heads more like, not stock. Stock heads are just too restrictive.

  • thats pretty impressive, me and my dad had 212hp but it was a 2276

  • Holy shit this engien screams like hell BEST SOUND ever man!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I have a 2332 in my 55 that I am using stock heads with. I did port them a massive amount (I had to weld quite a bit on the heads and intake manifolds), installed 44mm intake and 37.5mm exhaust, an FK98 cam, treuhaft 1.4 ratio rockers, 14:1 compression, deano dry sump oil pump, and to top it off vintage crower/hilborn MFI. Running 118 octane race gas, I got 312 HP. STOCK VW HEADS CAN BE MADE TO MAKE 230 HP WITH WORK.

  • That shit is sick as hell. Im happy to get like 60 sumthin HP in my squareback HAHA. Sweet engine man!

  • this engine prob smokes your shitty honda

  • Honda is not shit, buy a Honda and you will see what doing V-TEC after 6000rpm to 8000 or more. This engine is very good for a stock block.

  • i lol'd at your stupid V-TEC reference. You do realize that every car manufacturer has their own version of V-TEC, which basically does the same thing as V-TEC, they just don't advertise it like they are the shit.

  • VW have somethin' what call variable valve timing...but V-TEC is better than any other system in the world...stupid moron. maybe VANOS is good like V-TEC.

  • Its all variable valve timing!! Just some do if diff ways. Some have secondary cam shafts, some change their profile and i think some do have valves that dont operate till high revs.

  • yes but you can build this for a fraction of the cost. Plus bugs are just a hell of allot more fun than honda's. I would know, I own both.

  • False.

  • no theres no nitrous on that engine thats just a souped up VW engine theres a bunch of VW engine that get well over 200 with out nitrous

  • justdrew saved me the time of having to state that out.

These Type 1 engines are actually stronger.

  • and then there are happy dynos and real dynos like mustang dynos that measure whp that didnt even make it past 5000 rpm's

  • there's a big differance between 230 hp. and 230 dyno hp.......i have a vw that makes 297 hp. on the dyno w/ a 50 shot of nos 247 w/o

most people with a vw wouldn't know what 230 hp looks like

  • lol, I'm puttin out about 60. XD

  • I got about 50 lol

  • how about you and me get together and have the slowest race recorded in history? lol

  • haha well actually the engines on my garage floor right now I'm rebuilding the beetle lol.. So I think you'd win... haha I'll get a video of it uploaded by tomorrow so check it out

  • cool, I've got a vid of mine. Its just a picture one though. Right now all of its parts are sprayed accross the garage because I'm painting it

  • Im running about 30 - wahoooo!

  • Stock, meaning a stock casting as opposed to an Autocraft or something? Which one?

  • stock twin port can get that power.

  • lol stock heads with major machine work

  • u cant get 230hp with stock heads!!!

  • how big is your valve size..42 x 37?? or bigger??

  • That sounds sweet! 'Stock' must mean 'based on stock' surely? I can't believe that kind of power with the original valve and port sizes!

  • Woww! can you tell us the specs.?

valves size? 043? who do the port&polish?

    cam? Good job.thanx.

  • what cc... 1835, 2100???

  • 2387cc

  • it would be nice to have the part list ;valvessize....
