  • for the movie "The Faculty" . Another Brick In The Wall ( Part 2) (Album Version) Class of '99 featuring Layne Staley Tom Morello Stephen Perkins Martyn Le Noble & Matt Serletic

  • Rage against the machine, Jane's addiction, Pornos for pyros and Alice in chains. Could I even ask for anything more?

  • Why is Part 2 so hard to find?

  • @panick71 part 2 is the easy one with official video. part 1 is the build up

  • I like this better than Pink Floyd's, but don't get me wrong. I love Pink Floyd.

  • this is so damn funky, especially towards the end.. The only bands i know that have done this song half as good are Korn and of course pink floyd... but out of all three this is the masterpiece

  • i wasnt expecting to like it,but it is awsome

  • 90s still rocks...

  • I think Class of '99 & Korn are the only bands who have provided decent music to pink floy's song.. everyone else either sucked or just made it sound so identical to the original i didnt give a fuck anymore

  • They definitely gave the song a classy groove. Very well done.

  • The beginning of the song is so good.

  • The Faculty! LOL

  • THIS BAND WOULDVE CONQUERED ALL!!!!!!

  • @CLIFFxMUSTAINE yeah i agree i miss the late 90s

  • this picture of Layne was in 1998??

  • I wish Staley had sang the lyrics to Part 1 instead of making just a long ass intro to Part 2.

Or... and bare with me on this, what if Cantrell had sang Part 1, skipped The Happiest Days of Our Lives, and when into Staley singing Part 2?

    Damn... what could have been.

  • @ThalesInTheWell this is 'class of 99' not 'alice in chains'. cantrell wasnt even in this band.

  • Still LoViNiNg your channel brah! keep up the good work....there more the better! TY...BTW!

  • We need to bring Layne back

  • @TheRockchick1981 - How?

  • no disrespect, but i needs me my dark sarcasm.

  • man, I've been sitting here for a while, anticipating layne's voice to come in, and it hasn't yet. i'm goin through withdrawals, man! xD

  • i love this song especially how korn covered it XP

  • I dont think Laynes voice is weak. You cant really tell any way because theyre using some effect on his voice. I think they wanted it to sound kind of creepy and slower. If it was weak I dont think sean kinney would of still wanted to tour at that time. He said he was just waiting for Jerry to finish his solo tour and for and for Layne to get fired up about touring again. He said he talked to Layne and that Layne was starting to miss it. Anyway Layne is fucking Legendary.

  • @notavailableisnotava no bro this was his voice he was long gone at this point. I am glad he was still willing to give his fans a piece of him. Even though they would not show any pictures i prefer it that way. I want to remember him as the man i came to love for his music! A legend gone, but never forgotten!

  • Layne, we miss you man... Hope you're finally resting in peace. Blessings

  • One of the biggest and uniques voices of humanity and music...Layne Thomas Staley (1967-2002) Rest in peace dear man...your wings, are no longer denied =´)

  • wish he screamed at "hey teacher"

  • @ruski09 We know he couldn't up to this point though... so sad.

  • This is great

  • is there a version with all the parts ?

  • no unfortunatly. it would have been amazing to hear layne sing part 3 :/

  • @seantheman121 In all honesty he probably, at that time, refused to sing part 3 because of the lyrics and how messed up he was. Can't really blame him <=\. The first two parts are kickass though =D

  • Layne Staley is an awsome singer!!!!!!!!

  • I never knew this existed, even though it contains the best musicians from my favorite bands. Stephen Perkins on Drums, LeNoble on bass, and fucking Morello on guitar, and I've never heard of it?? How the hell did that happen?? That's half of Porno For Pyros with RATM and the man in the box himself! I'm ashamed, and this is awesome as hell.

  • Orgasm when part 2 starts!!!

  • I think he became more of a singer and less of a screamer.

  • Best cover What I heard

  • This kicks some serious ass. One of the best Pink Floyd covers I've heard, I love Layne's voice in this.

  • you can really hear morello's influence in this one.

  • totally ssstumbled on thiss. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaneveer kneww this exitedf. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzCool aaaaas heeell.

  • I love this version, and I'm always skeptical of Pink Floyd covers.

  • This version is often incorrectly attributed to Marilyn Manson as well.

  • Grunge... I miss you though I wasn't really aware of you at the time... So many good hearts in there all helping each other out... Examples: Class of 99, Mad Season, and Temple of the Dog. So much cooperation and collaberation... What if Layne and Kirt hadn't died? The last one alive that made it as big as them is Chris Cornell and he's drifted around a bit, as he gets to, but what if...? Where could grunge have gone healthy in their hands?

  • @ogrecorps I suppose that which destroyed the boys was an integral part of grunge anyway which means inevitably it would have just led to more of the same... Too bad. I forgot to mention that heroin took Andrew Wood of Mother Love Bone too, good and early on... Tragedy.

  • @ogrecorps If Andrew Wood hadn't died and MLB gotten scattered to the wind, grunge never would have happened. Andy Wood was the Christ of grunge.

  • i love this!!! r.i.p. layne we love you

  • rest in peace, and thanks for all you gave to me layne

  • The best cover version ever of this song.

  • if anyone had to cover this song im glad it was layne stayley. R.I.P.

  • @jam1ng Amen to that!

  • Comment removed

  • hey man thank for the part 1 and 2 and this song! i love layne stanley, the voice of layne for this song is... strange.

  • is it me or did laynes voice get weaker as he got closer to his death poor guy we miss u come on appocalipse them layne will rise again lets hope micheal jackson dnt tho

  • well, i don't think it got weaker, but especially on unplugged, he's singing way more nasal. which is totally ok, that was always his style, he's kind of the only one who can pull it off!

  • @ARMS0is0still0here I actually like his singing here. I think it goes well with the style of song it is here.

I get tired of all of those comments about how bad off he sounds. He wasn't really bad off until about 2000-01. He said that things collapsed for him in 1999.

  • @jmelkis why did things collapse for him in 99 i did'nt know that is that when he started using crack and crystal meth? i thought he looked terrible on the unplugged dvd but i think he sings better here and on get born again and died

  • @fuked86 I honestly don't know the answer to that. I wish I did. He says it in his final interview which is in the book Get Born Again.

All I can do is speculate.

  • @jmelkis i did research on it and thats when he started using crystal meth and crack so he could avoid being dope sick apparently it was right after his 32nd b-day which mustive really sucked

  • @ARMS0is0still0here that;s all about drugs.

  • @ARMS0is0still0here Of course his voice got weaker, he was very sick....they could not even show him in the video except for a few short clips that were blurry.

  • @ARMS0is0still0here I think his voice definitely got thinner and flatter, look at Get Born Again and Died

  • @ARMS0is0still0here yea, layne's voice was def more nasal in the unplugged, but thats b/c he did not have any front teeth (b/c of the drugs) and also, Layne did not want to do the unplugged b/c he was ashamed of the condition he was in, he did not want to appear in public was a druggie. thats why he spent his last days alone, after his girlfriend died, he could not live w/o her, so he died rite after. not suicide, but loneliness :( R.I.P Layne

  • @ukilledmydog yes his voice got weaker due to his addiction. so sad he was well liked in his circles of musicians!

  • @ukilledmydog I think it was just uninspired, he didn't really care

  • @ukilledmydog I think it's just the way he did these songs. He tended to change his vocal style according to what each song called for.

  • @ukilledmydog Yeah you can tell he's getting weaker in the song. When he pronounces his s', they sound dull because the top row of his teeth was missing at that time.

  • I know...its a Pink Floyd cover but this '99 has a practically a instrumental of Part 1.

  • Anywhere I can download this?

    I can't get enough of Part 1.

  • use a youtube to mp3 downloader just search 4 1 on google

  • @ NWOTruther, Onlinevideoconverter(.com)

  • hey thanks for the post !! love the long intro , and then it really delivers, the futurama version , call it what you will , it rocks !!!!!!

  • my sons name is gavin layne and if he possesses half the potential i will shit

  • Layne Staley and Tom Morello...never thought I'd see the day, too bad layne couldn't have stuck around longer they probably would've came up with some interesting sounding numbers

  • Layne Staley, we miss ya. That's the thing we call cover, it has it's own soul, it's own heartbeat.

  • Hey. It could be true that they didn't play together because there's a rumour flying round that Layne recorded his vocals over the phone for this tune. Anyone else hear this?? Not saying that this is true or anything but that could be the case.

  • I dont think so. They didnt play together because of laynes poor physical condition. i seen a picture of him in 97 and he looks like a gohst, i can understand why he didnt attend any live performances around that time.

  • There is a picture of him around 1999/2000. He still has those eyes sweet smile. But he looks very old and pale. Makes the 97 pic of him look healthy.

  • hey do you know where you can find these photos? the latest ive seen is from unplugged in 96.

  • No. What happened is that Layne agreed to do the song once Roger Walters gave the band the authorisation to cover a Pink Floyd song. The band recorded the music in LA. And Layne recorded his vocals in Oct 98 in Seattle. It took him half a day to get to the studio which was a 20 minute ride away.

  • i met this guy at a bakery, he could have been a wack job but i dont know, he said he knew layne staley kind of, and that he used to live in an apartment downtown where i live, and that he was a total recluse and rarley left his place

  • Layne wielki talent!!!

  • The Intro Theme for "The Faculty" is great!

  • I like class of 99's better than pink floyd and korns versions. Layne was the best.

  • anything is better than Korn's version

  • lol yea

  • i like how layne didnt do a fake english accent

  • class of 99 forever

  • Abut fucking time somebody tells everybpdy about class of '99. It was a shrt-lived band who played together in late 1999 and included Staley, Morello, Perkins, and a few others in the lineup. it is not rage, Alice in Chains, and Porno for Pyros however.

  • Played together. I don't think they did. Layne wasn't seen publicly from 1998, to the end of his life.

  • lil bere i c u r getting recovered and more powaaaarful than ever :)

    love

    jc or lil jay..fuck it.

  • i'll at least upload what i have on my other comp. i still hope i can get my old files somehow... whatever, we'll see.

    thanks.

  • i believe in ya
