  • mmmmmm i love this fast and slow >:D

  • joder, que tempo mas rapido, les perseguía la sgae ? jajajajaja

  • I'm playing this song for contest this Friday :)

  • We are playing this for festival and I am super excited!

  • a little to fast but overall it is AWESOME but the piccilo solo in the middle should play a little louder but GO BAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • played this in our spring concert last year. funnest song i ever played :) go mcminn central high band!

  • muy rapidoooooooooooo, algo mas lento mejor.

  • Collin Alexander from Clovis High School here, we just finished our all-state and im first chair trumpet in the symphonic band for all-state and we get to play this so wish me luck!!

  • Love it! My Community Band (Rohrersville Cornet Band) is playing this as well.

  • Our symphonic band play a little bit faster than this.

  • we played this last year and we are in middle school;)

  • Tenor sax for this is awesome :D

  • the third clarinet part is so boring, we're not doing anything...

  • Were playing this. Its so fun

  • You don´t play a Waltz in the same 3/4 way of a mexican song. Why do you play the Paso-Doble like a militar march. The Paso-doble is a dance, have you attemped dancing a Paso-doble with this speed? It´s imposible!!!!!! Please respect the piece instructions. Thanks.good morning from Spain.excuse me for my english

Thanks.good morning from Spain.

  • Paso doble is fun to play 6/4 time is so fun..

  • i played this song in a honor band, i totally think its alot better way faster. (but i am mostly biased for i play the euphonium and we rarely get fun parts like in this song)

  • I played Euphonium on this and i love the really high parts :) very good piece

  • The bassoon part for this piece is insane, it is kind of possible, if you like being um pah without breathing.

  • Why did the flutes not play le triplets? That's the best part :P

    -Oboe

  • We are playing this song for Graduation today. Its a badass song, no doubt. We played it when our band was in San Antonio for our Music Trip. And we played it for our concert this last month. We took it at a tempo of 265bpm. It was insane. What tempo did all of you guys take it at? And towards the end, my band took it down to about 60bpm then went all the way back up to 265bpm up to the last measure. It was really intense. What are your thoughts??

  • nice.... our school plays it a little bit (just a little) faster but overall... very good =D [Go Saltfleet!!!]

  • Trumpets (around 1:45) need to come in MUCH FREAKING LOUNDER PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is the pinnacle for the brass in this peice!

  • Overall good! This is one of my favorite songs! Very nice interpritation. Watch the tone in the upper voices. More low brass would be nice to.

    Fred

  • WAYYY to slow. 140 BPM is ideal in my opinion. It's marked vivace. This is terribly muddy though, so rehearsing slower and kicking it up to speed would be necessary. A ritardando at 1:52 would be nice, hold the chord at 1:58. And really get things cooking (about 155 BPM) from there until the end. Overall decent job.

  • very fast...

  • Also during that "flute solo", if I hadnt played the piece before I wouldnt even know that was there because of these sucky trumpets. And that section near the end that is supposed to be triumphant was a disaster. Clarinets were playing wrong notes and way too loud, especially at 1:50 (If you click 1:50, it will take you to 1:52, so go to like 1:48). And then on the re-entrance of that glorious melody somebody squeaked...LOUD. And the high note at 2:04 was unbelievably out of tune.

  • @mw2god1234 It wasn't perfection... but wouldn't you think you're being a tad critical? Like to the point of being a complete dick on the Internet, no offense?

  • Now THIS IS how you play this song! Nice and fast. We played it like this in my day. So fun to do it this way

  • P.S.- Epic squeak / fail at 0:40

  • Were these guys trying to go too fast? Because it's really obvious that this isnt working out for them. Intonation is god awful, I cant hear half of the ensemble because people are panicking because of the tempo and as a result forget any advanced skills just so they can keep up with the tempo. This isnt a question of what march tempo is or how fast this piece should be played, this band just cant handle this tempo. But I dont blame them because I think this is way too fast.

  • This was very good :) but the french horns were EXTREAMLY sharp :(( (im a french horn player) good job trumpets and flutes :)) but UGH C'MON HORNS!!!! :P this hurts me v.v lol and the tempo I think was a tad too fast lol marches are usually fast but not that fast....it should be around 110 lol but otherwise that was very clean :)

  • 132 bpm? Ridiculous......this recording at this tempo is muddy and cluttered, one reason you can't hear the flutes. I'll take a slower pace, say around 108 bpm so all the parts can be clearly heard and the piece cleanly played.

  • There are different styles of Spanish pasodoble: military pasodoble, bullfight pasodoble, etc. And Amparito Roca it's not a military march, so it should be played at a slower tempo, as it is a pasodoble composed to be played during bullfights, not during military parades.

  • This sounds cool all fast :D

  • you can't here the flutes at the solo part. :(

  • My band played this this year!

  • Excuse me, had you left the water running or something like that?

WAY TOO FAST. This is suposed to be a march to be played while walking. I do not think you could do so at this tempo.

Fast does not mean better. Slow it down, take your time to enjoy the music. Quarter note = 110 - 120 is a perfect tempo for a pasodoble.

  • @mboschm Okay, as I have previously mentioned: This piece is a Spanish march; and as others have said: "Music is subjective so you can play it any way you want to." If you don't like it there is a thousand recordings you can listen to. Less negativity, more positivity?

  • @mboschm

Music is completely subjective. This is still a piece of music. I love the fast arabian/spanish emperor sound.

  • damn yall played it fast! really good :D we're playing this for our concert contest. Tuba ftw XD

  • on the solo. or band needs to be softer.

  • flute needs to be louder. more dynamics could be better.

  • FLUTE SOLO OWNS !!!!!!!

  • GO TRUMPET!

  • u are for real

  • My band is playing this, its so much fun.

    GO OBOE.

  • lol i think i heard a squeak at either 0:40 or 0:41

  • Articulations were on point though!

  • im my opinion it was a bit slow could have done alot more dynamics the trio was too loud the( loudest insturement should have been the flute) the coutermelody was tooo soft i wouldnt have been able to hear the moving parts in the dog fight if it wasnt for the trumpet dogfight wasnt agressive over alll it was ok wouldve been way better if you would have did more than just play notes and rhythms but shaped it made you softs alot softer and the louds alot louder but it was alright i guess

  • music is subjective you can play it anyway you want to. some people may think it needs to be one way while others another. so stop fighting and enjoy the way this specific directer chose his band to play it

  • @tariqmccray you don't know nothin.........'bout nothin

  • Comment removed

  • @tariqmccray two camels in a tiny car........ha!

  • @Oddball206 RWJ reference?

  • @Warbirdguy1 ya FTW!

  • @Oddball206 Amen to that! "Epic face epic face epic face, jizz in my pants!" ---SPONGEBOBLE!

  • @tariqmccray it's my opinion so just shutup....... and how do you know i'm a seventh grader

  • waaaaaaay to fast!

  • My director is trying to go that speed for festival :) I think it sounded great, minis the squeak.

  • Too fast. This is a pasodoble, a popular spanish dance. Very usual in bullfighting and popular parties. It's the favorite dance to old people. Hahaha I imagine old people dying of heart attacks dancing in this tempo.

  • Hi people,

In my opinion I think it is a bit fast too. I live in Valencia (Spain), where it's very typicall play this awesome song, and normally we play it more slowly, but in general it's ok. Congratulations!

  • if only the slow people in our band could play that fast

  • @dagnino6 Exactly. Our band has trouble playing sixteenth notes. So I (snare drum) constantly have to slow down.

  • It's good but not great. You can't even hear the flute solo...

  • this song is awesome!

  • You guys were great! The perfect tempo, dynamics, and keys! Don't listen to anyone who says it's too fast, it just right! IT'S A MARCH FOR PETE'S SAKE! Keep it up, definitely a Superior.

  • @tariqmccray you're absolutly wrong you can't even hear the flute solo. it's just way too fast

  • @tariqmccray How are you going to march to this pace? Running with your horn in your mouth?

I have quite an idea of how a pasdoble should be like, and this is way to fast, the trio is unbalanced.

  • WOW thats fast!

  • It seems a bit fast to me. I'm accustomed to hearing a paso doble a little slower than this.

  • sounds great, but its 1. Too fast, and at 1:21 you cant even hear the important parts, in fact, through most of it, you cant hear whats important....great sound, but dynamics need work

  • @hookshotagain this is how fast it's supposed to be

  • @AvidMusiQBukworm i honestly dont think so, but ok. Still though, the balance could use some work, it seems kinda, really loud

  • wow this song is death for solo clarinet mostly the 16th note quintepalets finally learned it after a couple days of practice (8th grade)

  • lol epic clarinet squeak @ 0:38 - 0:44 I shouldn't even mention it cuz im exposing it XD but it sounds all loud and cool XD

  • PENIS.

    ftw.

    Sodimation station.

  • BASSOON FTW :D

  • I played the flute solo. =w=

  • This song is so fun to play for first clarinet.

  • I love the beginning with the eighth notes. (or is it sixteenth notes) wtv it sounds sooo cool!

  • this is one of my favorite concert band songs :)

  • ZOMG BAND NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERDS LOLOL SMALL PENIS

  • This song is super hard for the trombone.

  • @GruntHappyStudios OMG! Tell me about it! You get so used to playing backround stuff, them we have the melody! I was frazzled being first chair and having that responibility. But college is now better than my old high school band. I miss that stuff.

  • Too fast, I guess. Remember it is a pasodoble and people must dance it!

  • I have to agree, the tempo was a bit too fast, and plus, the band overpowered the flute solo. However, the band's sound was great.

  • no, the Euphonium has the most badass part ever in this song, powerful bass line melodies combined with very high and sick countermelodies = key.

  • @Twinmadness523 i agree except you could barley hear them the entire song

i play euphonium only in 8th grade and our band is playing this

  • This tempo is terrible.

A pasdoble is an elegant music!

  • @anonimenric

Esto no se puede bailar... demasiado rápido!!! Vaya tela...

  • dude this song is amazing. we played it this year. the tempo is great. good job

  • I love this song, but my part was 2nd clarinet. The part was so annoying and boring to play since it was just mostly a bunch of notes on the up-beat. haha.

  • no ya i played this at CSULA's First Chair HOnor Band and this is the exact tempo. good job.

  • @wizardjedipirate I sort of agree. The tempo for this is supposed to be fast. although there are some slower versions of this, this piece sounds its best at this tempo.

  • @MostWanted189 I agree, This piece needs a good pace about it

  • How would you march to this? It's like you're running or something.

  • @beaglemanzzz DCI maybe?

  • We are playing this in my community band in one! And it FLIES!! It's fun though!

  • Terrible version...good players but too fast. I am spanish, have heard this song all my life and know a little about it.

  • @vizhtor77 How can you say this is a terrible version? not to be rude and intervene but music has many styles. One piece of music can be varied in many ways. That's what is so great about music. Whether you've grown up to this piece or not, it is interesting and wonderful to hear many versions on one piece. So I don't think it's terrible or bad at all.

  • I found this song hard-ish at... was it 140? i cant imagine playing it this fast...

  • This is the correct tempo...well it depends on fast the band can play it....most high school band directors take it slower than normal for contest(evaluation). the tempo says vivace which everyone knows as ballsy fast.

  • this is freaking fast.

  • we played it 'bout this fast....only steadier and much cleaner :x

  • I think this song sucks cause I have to play it and all I have are up beats >:(

  • perfect tempo for it

it musta been awesum to hear that in person

  • Way too fast, it should be played at about 140. the woodwind part in the beginning with the run sounds pitchy:\ The flute solo REALLY needed to stand out, and the rest of the band should've played under it because the flute has the solo. Also, everone needs to blend to eachother, not stand out so much:\. Over all, its okk.. :) constructive critism? :)

  • euphonium needs to lead the melody on the key change

  • my band just played this piece and won the regionals with it i is the speed that keeps it together

  • This is TOO FAST...when bands try to play at this tempo all but the very best of them sound cluttered and muddy. You can barely hear the flutes which are an important part of this number...Slow it down and go for accuracy, not speed.

  • @SpeedyNeutrino43 i'll have to find my band's recordin' for you >:P.....we play it fast and it doesn't sound muddy =o.

  • man thats fast. im playing this in high school but its down tempo a bit. still very nicely played

  • too fast,

And you can barely hear the sax counter melody on the second page. T_T That's the best part, (Yes, I'm just saying that because I play sax)

  • this is the only version of the song that is at tempo and sounds awesome

  • the piece should actually go faster! It says, Vivace! So it's really fast. Maybe around 150 to 160 bpm

  • @allstar0815 This is a pasdoble and should be treated as such. Vivace in a pasdoble means, at most, 130 bpm.

  • too faaaast.D';

  • This is about the speed we're taking it.

It ruins our precision, but once we get it I think it'll be great :D

We're going on a cruise to Coszumel for band trip and will be playing it on the ship.

    I'm terriblely excited!!

  • @soyouknowme2 *Cozumel

  • @soyouknowme2 *Cozumel

  • We played this...It is really fun for me (super small town btw) because I play the flute part on the violin in the band (did I mention small town) and we BOOK this song along lol. Every violinist's dream, lots of fast, easy, fun notes. (Small town =900 people). Why didn't I ever learn flute? I could never play an instrument that requires blowing into it... Lol just not that good

  • i play this song in my band 2! and we played it with a bunch of high skooler and we took it evn fastr than that AND sped it up at the end 2 where it wuz i think about 250 at the end!

  • hey, my bands playing that!!!

  • good job although should be about 10 clicks faster. also band should be quieter during the flute solo. 2 out 5 good job.

  • um my band is better than yours, we played this and took it faster, played it better, and got a superior.

  • VERY GOOD JOB! I loved it, it just slowed down right after the flute solo. . . but otherwise very good :)

  • THat's how fast it's suppose to be :D

  • @julsmuzic no it isn't.

  • Comment removed

  • Eh

I think if it were a tad slower, it would be better. NOT SAYING IT'S BAD HERE, because it certainly isnt :P

maybe im just bias becuase we didnt play it this fast

  • I know its supposed to be played a lot slower than this, but I've played this piece several times and honestly the only time it was enjoyable was when it was this tempo. It just feels right! Especially the solo clarinet part! Just gotta kick it up haha

  • Hell yeah! the Solo Clarinet part is amazing!

I was first chair at our district honor band, and we played this.

    Ahhh, amazing! xD

  • slower...? it should be this fast

  • This is how fast it should be!!

  • Holy crap, thats super fast.

  • Tuba gets the best part in the entire fuckin' song. Hell yeah! Tubas FTW!

  • All about the Solo Clarinet, baby

    =)

    xD haha

  • @clarinetissst757 HOOAH!!!

  • @clarinetissst757 what about the second and third lol we repeat the same four notes for the whole song!! lol

  • @clarinetissst757 el solo es de piccolo ! ( flautín)

  • @clarinetissst757 oh yes it is i play the solo clarinet part in our band

  • were going about 67

  • the key change at 0:51 everyone needs to stfu lol. can barely hear the upper woodwinds which is really important there. Need to expand your dynamics though. everything seems to just be loud. But over all it sounds real good

  • i love this song. . . we ply it a litle bit slower though. but just a little

  • were playing this song in band a lot better if i might add. i love my bari sax part, its so much fun too play it sounds better faster

  • ummm this is being played waaayyy too fast!!

  • yeah it is! they messed up the speed....

  • dannggg, thats super fast!

we're just learning it right now,,,and we are going SUPER slow. maybe about 40?

  • omg tried going t that speed notes dont come out asl well as they should

  • Everyones off!

  • This song is really fun at this speed, especially for trombone in my opinion. unfortunately, my bands trumpets suck so we cant go this fast, but it is still fun to play.

  • Ahh....the memories. we played this in all-county band my freshman year....the trombone part for 1st chair is amazing!

  • its too fast... some songs are supposed to be fast, but if they're played TOO fast, they sound bad...

  • que caña,mira que escuchado veces amparito pero que pulmones tienen los musicos estos,o bien estaban con cagaleras.que desastre.

  • too slow...

  • Like hell thats you thats th recording

  • we sightread this in middle school and its easy on piccolo(me) but yah we did pretty good (: and great playing

  • This is difficult for bass clarinet... Oh... keeping those notes up high is so difficult.

  • pretty good, but needs more bass

  • tu eres feo!!!!

  • que rapido

  • per l'amor de deu!!!! que li han fet a este classic????

  • AT :40 A C-NET DID A HIDIEOUS SQUEAL! it happned to me sometimes........

  • i play the c-net and we just did that for our winter concert at Hillsborough High, Tampa, Fl

  • It's not all that easy for low brass to play any faster than this...for woodwinds it's easy to articulate the faster, unless your like a professional tuba player, its STILL really hard to articulate that fast at 1:48. to cinnamon39 and suprakilla2JZ, yall are woodwind instruments. if you want to play this songer fAsTeR, than try playing a trombone or a tuba or a seusaphone, and see how eAsY iT iS!!! my band played it and we rocked it EVEN AT A SLOW TEMPO!

  • they are playing somewhere between 152 and 160. which, as the piece says to be played, is vivace.

get out your metronomes and check...

vivace varies, so it doesn't matter how fast or slow it is, so long as it is vivace. it doesn't make you any better to play it faster or slower, a true musician will tell you that.

  • 160 is a bit too fart stylistically. That's more of a circus march tempo. As a Spanish march, it's meant to be more dignified (think bull fighters), which means a little slower.

  • @mangofreek Well, maybe in a case of a pasdoble, which has a very "fixed" tempo, vivace means just a wee bit faster, something around 130 bpm and a "lighter" and "lifeful" character.

  • This might shock you, but the composer isn't always right. As a composer I can say that composers fault just as often as a conductor or performer.

In most settings the conductor, the interpretor, is the persons who word must be followed, the composer only suggests, but the conductor who knows his band more completely makes the final adjustments
