Yeah, I have a recurring mania for the 12-string. I caught Kottke (here in Blacksburg, VA) in about 2002, and he dropped my jaw (never to be closed!) But I get out of the habit. When I pick it up again, the first hour I play sounds like crap ... but then I adjust. 12-strings are LOUD.
I know exactly how that goes, my 12-string has been neglected and left to gather dust for too long.And yes they are loud and the sound has so much more depth but sometimes i prefer the simplicity of 6 strings.
Makes me want to bust out and re-string my 12 string.
