I was 19 when this song was released. It passed me by at the time. When a friend told me of it recently I dug out the Dusty in Memphis CD and now can't stop playing it. Had it on tape first time round I think.
This song is coming straight from the heart. Its sad but abbsssoollluuttteelyy brilliant!!! shes top shelf material. No current female performer gets even half close to her and never will.
A great song sung in true heartfelt fashion by the original icon of white soul. Surprisingly this is not a Bacharach song, and it sounds so much like one of his.
Hi, if your a Dusty fan you should read the biography 'Dancing with demons' it's quite enlightening what suicidal depression does to your life. she was a mess.
"Dusty In Memphis" ranks in my Top 10 favorite LPs of all-time. She was extremely shy about recording with the Memphis soul musicians, and in fact most of her vocals were done upon returning to New York. "Just A Little Lovin," "No Easy Way Down" (Carole King/Gerry Goffin), "I Don't Want To Hear It Anymore" (Randy Newman), "Son of A Preacher Man.." Just a great, great album.
i absolutely agree. Dusty's voice had such an intimate presence. wish that she'd received more recognition during her career. dig Streisand too. but not her rendition of this song. this is all Dusty. absolute brilliance...

terrific I never knew Streisand covered this from Dusty Springfield. I like Streisands version more though. But this is great to.
