I could run a 1957 Bel-Air for another 30 or 40 years...and it would still produce 100% less pollution than the combination of all the different factories that it takes to make just one single new car.
Any cars from the Cash For Clunkers program, dealerships were ordered to destroy them or face criminal charges. Your classic Cadillacs, tough Ford trucks that would last years upon years, the Griswold-style woodie station wagons, all of those were purposely destroyed. The people that traded in a dependable Ford truck just to get a couple of thousand off for a Chinese-made plastic sedan that will only last 3 years tops are complete fucking imbeciles.
A crying shame people sell out for cash, that cr seemed to be a fgreat running vehicle. If not it could of been used as parts to help the ones left on the road run cleaner..BETTER WAYS TO RECYCLE AND SAVE THE WORLD....
@carjunks It just doesn't make any sense for them to actually spend money on making them never run when they could have easily taken them, parted them out, and more than likely made a profit on just about every single one of them.
The Globalites would like America to "Limit our Carbon Footprint" until other developing nations have a chance to "Catch Up." More programs like C4C are on the way; for example a tax on fuels used during leisure activites, like cook outs. It seems that for the Socialists, a tax on something seems to make it all better...
Whats with all these Caprice wagons getting wasted. The most reliable, tough, usefull, spacious, powerful, and comfortable wagons. Lets just trade it in for a newer, shittier, useless, compact, unibody piece of horseshit, and still pay a little extra. Another real car that I would have loved to have, gone to waste. Thanks alot gov!
that was a bad ass wagon, my parents had a wagon when i was growing up, a 79 pontiac catalina safari with a 403 engine, it could barely chirp the tires with a neutral drop. That was a waste of good american iron!
That funny ,but still sad. Most of the cars I saw at dealer for CFC were still in good shape and not clunkers. Symbolism over substance that what it is.
Sigh... Another example of mindless murder of reliable vehicle. American engineering is now getting more scarce. Now we have euro crap and jap crap everywhere. I hope this program ends soon. No more great cars have to die.
you are right, of course. these older cars are completely renewable and actually better for the environment. the carbon footprint created when the car was new has long sense been paid off. if you have a caprice or similar RWD car when the engine or transmission fails(unlikely if you maintain it) you simply get it rebuilt. my 89 camaro has a low low mileage 350, originally it was a 305. 305 still ran but i wanted more power. these cars are rebuild-able, new cars are throw away
And... You can put a Gen 3-4 Small block in when the engine ever gets boring, Which RUNs pretty damn clean, gets great MPG yet still have 400+ hp and a "Modern" engine
keep this video to remind people what a real car looks like and how a real car actually has power. if they have it their way we will all be driving pelosi shitboxes. im keeping my camaro, the choice is an easy one. JUST SAY NO!!!!!!!!!

I would have loved the oppotunity to buy that car when my Custom Cruiser got totalled and I couldn't find another decent wagon to replace it with.

I love these cars for some reason enen though it is a wagon. I'd love to have one for a backup car. Sad to see it so misused. :(

Shoulda called it "nice cars for clunkers", cause the only clunker here is the piece of shit econobox you drove out of the dealership.
Won't take half as long as this car to make twice the smog. Good job, you ignorant wanna-be "environmentally friendly" cunts.

@gmcman992003 agreed. All this program did was push us farther into debt and get rid of some great vehicles.

here in holland (europe) we have a program that will give u 1000 euro for your old car but only if its from before 1991
so only the old crap gets removed
cars like the one in the vid are way to young to get clunked
and what do they get for a new car ?? a prius??
out here v8's are rare (ofcourse u got bmw/audi/mercedes/some other brandsthat make v8 engines but those dont sound like a real one )
