Enjoyable. I heard Michael Maniaci live singing this at the Santa Fe opera. One had to sit front / center in that large, open-air setting to discern the individual nuances of his voice in contrast to the other singers. Farther away, his voice sounded very similar to the female singers' voices, especially because of the similar vibrato and timbre. The original opera had most of Silla's arias removed, and Santa Fe eliminated another male role; therefore, there was little difference in vocal sound.

Very refined singing of the most subtle
expressivity! Maestro Maniaci has some
dynamic moments, but for the most part,
his interpretation lacks ardor and tends
to be soporific rather than poetic. His
tone and timbre are admirable as is
his vocal range! Wish I could be more
enthusiastic! Thank you for posting, Ken!
