  • I think the "fabric tube" is the best option going. I have a few ideas about the structure of the fabric tube, etc. in my vids. I think if the pressure of the oil comming out is so high, if they plug the well, then if could cause cracks in the piping by some estimates, so the "fabric tube" is good, at least the oil can be recovered also.

  • @trailkeeper I agree with your comment. Even a leaky cloth fabric will be good enough. Once it saturates with oil it won't leak anymore.

Four steel cables can be anchored to the bottom. Every few hundred yards metal cross poles can keep the separation between the cables. Fabric tube can be lowered down around the cables to create a tube reaching from surface to bottom.

  • This is by far closest to a working solution then setting up a camera 5000 feet under...

  • i agree. anything would be a better effort than the current containment effort.

  • curtain diameter can be made lot smaller - enough to cover the well top

  • even then theres it would be hard to tell if the current would be strong enough to sweep it away. its worth looking into in my opinion. good idea.

  • youd need giant metal rings and anchors to counter the effects of the currrent.

  • @flametard US navy has anchors to hold aircraft carriers. use old submarine as anchor. they have everything they need to fix and/or contain this. ships, personnel, materials, metals, access to all scientists, engineers, builders in the whole world. they can/could fix this if they wanted to. BP former owner: goldman sachs. USA current owner: goldman sachs. coincidence of slow action?
