Barnous and Orbelos (which form today the northern limits of Greece) provide a natural barrier that separated, and separates, Macedonia from its northern neighbor. The only real connection is along the Axios/Vardar River and even this valley does not form a line of communication because it is divided by gorges.

But the extension of the geographic term “Macedonia” to cover southern Yugoslavia cannot. Even in the late 19th century, this misuse implied unhealthy territorial aspirations. You do have the right to name yourselves what ever you what. But putting your flag on Greek pictures and claiming them as your own is wrong in any part of the world.

There hundreds maybe thousands of modern historians that have dealt with Macdonian history but in their books they just write their opinion. "Skopje" was not a part of Macedonia in the lifetime of Alexander the Great, or for more than a century after that. In fact, the territory of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia was not (except for a sliver on its southern border) a part of Macedonia.

Barnous and Orbelos (which form today the northern limits of Greece) provide a natural barrier that separated, and separates, Macedonia from its northern neighbor. The only real connection is along the Axios/Vardar River and even this valley does not form a line of communication because it is divided by gorges.

Likewise, for example, the Egyptians, who were subdued by Alexander, may have been ruled by Macedonians, including the famous Cleopatra, but they were never Macedonians themselves, and Egypt was never called Macedonia.

There hundreds maybe thousands of modern historians that have dealt with Macdonian history but in their books they just write their opinion. "Skopje" was not a part of Macedonia in the lifetime of Alexander the Great, or for more than a century after that. In fact, the territory of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia was not (except for a sliver on its southern border) a part of Macedonia.
