only thing is that the AO went negative for 3 weeks and we still had warm weather in the Midwest. Last time it did that (last winter and the winter before that), tons of super cold air spilled out. Anybody remember February 2011 when the Arctic air brought freezing temperatures all the way down to Mexico? So this video does not make a lot of sense with respect to February 2012.
Nasa - There's nothing to worry about with he Challenger and the Columbia. Everything is all right. We the Nazis designed and built and stand behind it 100%. But we're not going for a ride in it.
Thanks to the sientists monitoring climate change for us, so important
It did scare me a lot 2011 in germany there was not really a summer - only rainy, then it was sunny & warm in autum till winter. The sun did burn so hot in winter start 2011 here, like it would be summer. Now 2012 Feb. its getting a bit cold, but after the 1st spring flowers already did grow and appear it´s getting frosty. This can not work fine in long time, I think this will cause unrepairable damages to us and nature.
well i live some 100 miles away right now. i have 3 feet of snow. So that means they are higher then me and have a mountain range near by. Nothing new. Some years we get grass as high as 9 feet up in Trapper creek alaska. it hasn't happen in 10 years. Then some years we get massive out brakes of different insects. EVERY YEAR SOMETHING NEW HAPPENS IN BIG WAYS. I was 4yrs old in alaska i remember 20 FEET OF SNOW IN TRAPPER CREEK ALASKA.
@killerbee04x I THINK THESE UN-ALASKAN PEOPLE SHOULD LEAVE IF THEY CAN'T FREAK WEATHER. ALASKA HAS ALWAYS HAD FREAK WEATHER AND OUTBREAKS OF BIRDS, BATS, GLOW BUGS, RED ANTS, ANIMALS AND SO MUCH MORE. GET OFF YOUR FAT NASA ASS AND SPEND SOME TIME OUT DOORS OR TALK TO PEOPLE.
The picture of the highway is not Cordova, Alaska. If you look closely at the photo the cars are driving on the left hand side of the road. You might want to pull that photo.

@emanres100 Apparently you know nothing about climate change, respiration, cooking, lawnmowers or Karl Marx. You're probably a republican. Why are you here, anyway?
Lol, by reading these comments here is can see taht some people connect this to religion's :/ What is wrong with you people. You could watch video and see the science prove why there is no snow :/
Praises to God Allmighty, the seasons are changing and He said so in His Word that it would happen in latter days. Ah! I see. It's the same here in Britain. Last year we were buried under tons of the stuff, and this winter has been unbelievably mild.I had wondered about the sunspot cycle also.
Leave it up to the general public to cry about not being mentioned. Sad. Thank you NASA for this lovely video and for all the hard work you do keeping us up to date. :)
gnivag, the sunspot cycle is, surprise, cyclical so that cannot explain a warming trend. And in fact, sunspots are cool (dark) spots, so you might even expect the opposite. And if the sun really were getting hotter, we wouldn't be having debates over whether it's actually an issue.
WTF? This is by NASA and there is no mention of the increased activity of Sun spots? The weather pattern is interesting but don't you think the additional energy released from the Sun might be contributing to warming things up? Oh, I forgot its carbon causing global warming. Guess we are going to have to pay more carbon taxes.
@gnivag They didn't mention it because they are scientists who know that sun effects have a negligible effect on the energy hitting the earth, and therefore negligible heating of the earth. They are NOT know-nothings who reject science in favor of a political position.

Interesting. I was wondering what was going on this winter. It's been oddly not very cold, even if we don't get a lot of snow in my area anyway.
