only thing is that the AO went negative for 3 weeks and we still had warm weather in the Midwest. Last time it did that (last winter and the winter before that), tons of super cold air spilled out. Anybody remember February 2011 when the Arctic air brought freezing temperatures all the way down to Mexico? So this video does not make a lot of sense with respect to February 2012.

well i live some 100 miles away right now. i have 3 feet of snow. So that means they are higher then me and have a mountain range near by. Nothing new. Some years we get grass as high as 9 feet up in Trapper creek alaska. it hasn't happen in 10 years. Then some years we get massive out brakes of different insects. EVERY YEAR SOMETHING NEW HAPPENS IN BIG WAYS. I was 4yrs old in alaska i remember 20 FEET OF SNOW IN TRAPPER CREEK ALASKA.

gnivag, the sunspot cycle is, surprise, cyclical so that cannot explain a warming trend. And in fact, sunspots are cool (dark) spots, so you might even expect the opposite. And if the sun really were getting hotter, we wouldn't be having debates over whether it's actually an issue.

WTF? This is by NASA and there is no mention of the increased activity of Sun spots? The weather pattern is interesting but don't you think the additional energy released from the Sun might be contributing to warming things up? Oh, I forgot its carbon causing global warming. @gnivag They didn't mention it because they are scientists who know that sun effects have a negligible effect on the energy hitting the earth, and therefore negligible heating of the earth. They are NOT know-nothings who reject science in favor of a political position.

Valdez got 322.1" of snow so far this year (over 100" more than Cordova). We've been digging out for weeks. No mention of that.
