Its a bit of an aquired taste i guess, but you either like it or you dont. You either hear it and think thats cool or thats so sloppy. personaly I love it. The sloppier and more sleezy the better lol
checking out thunders/dolls stuff tonight because i always pushed it aside...perhaps with good reason methinks.......hard to wrap my mind around why so many people liked and still like this stuff..........bad singing and playing seems like something that wouldn't cut it normally......but some of it has a certain appeal nonetheless.
ha ur dreaming to think he would have pulled that off junkie or no but he has the sinatra thing no dobt u got to hand it to some of the greats "I wanna be a pop star, like keith richards"-johnny thunders
alright alot of punks like the dolls or thunders but johnny was rock and roll and was grooming himself to be a pop star. The troggs were easily the 1st punk band but i wasnt there so dont quote me! (shoot up or shut up) -just kidding!
Actually, he lost much of his charm by the late seventies. And heroin certainly did destroy his looks. He looked like a junkie. You can be in denial about that, if you need to, but heroin does ruin people's looks, as well as everything else.

Thank You. I am by no means PRO-HEROIN, that's just stupid. But what most people don't realize is opiate drugs actually slow down your metabolism so you don't age as quickly. That's why opiate heads live so long IF...BIG IF-They don't get killed copping or OD.
That's what William Burroughs said, sort of, and look how long he lived.... lol. Anyway, this is wrong. However, as opiates don't do any direct tissue damage, it's most likely actually the junkie lifestyle, the constant strain of going through withdrawal, and the shit dope gets cut with that turns you into a hollow shell of what you once were...
haha no it never i would say it started over in englang with the clash and the sex pistols becuase even jt dident like been called punk and the ramones where in the 70s about 74 lol they also didnet consider them self punk at first
you have a good point but i dont class him as punk hes alot differnt to what was going on with the punk sound at the time he had his own sound with is better than been labeld punk dont get me wrong i love punk and jt influenced so many bands in england at that time so lets just listen to his great music and not argue lol
If you don't like arguments, don't post fucking stupid, barely literate comments. "Punk" didn't start with a couple of bands in England getting the official label. If you think it has to be defined by a damned label then you have business speaking on the topic. Punk was around before those bands..and it was around with guys like Johnny T and the Ramones and others in the U.S.. Deal with it.
Malcolm Mclaron managed the New York Dolls, learned all he could about the punk rock culture that was in NYC at the time then went back to England and created the Pistols, the Clash came a little later.Whether the Ramones considered themselves Punk or not, they were. They were the founding Fathers.Ramones,Heartbreakers,
Oh, I'm not at all dicrediting the British influence on Punk, it wouldn't be PUNK without it. It all came together, different sects and styles in the same gene' with a simular messages. I love it all and you have the right idea, just enjoy. I think some of JTs solo stuff is absolutely incredible!
such a queer song. worship it, anyway

Not the pretty boy he was in 1972. Heroin had already destroyed his beauty and charm by this time.

No, he still had his charm. And age destroyed his beauty, not heroin.
