even though the guys never seemed to think so, this is a GREAT cover! The first time I heard Ozzy sing it I thought it sounded weird, now I think his vocals are perfect for the song :D His unpretentious style fits it incredibly well.

@fumetti He said in a Guitar World interview back in 2008 that those songs weren't supposed to see the light of day. Their manager at the time had a songwriter friend named Norman Haines who wanted his songs recorded but didn't have a band. They were just happy to record in a studio for the first time so they agreed to do the songs but knew that this and the others they recorded didn't represent who they were or what they wanted to sound like.
This demo kick ass by Black Sabbath in 69 and that's why i am one of Black Sabbath's favorite fan, they alway's sound great when they had all of the original member's.This might not be as heavy as most of their stuff but it's still is so f**k'n great when your hear Ozzy's voice with any music...A Black Sabbath Fan Forever!!
@SabbraCadabra789 What do you mean "all them other bands"? I don't even know what you're talking about with that allusion. Well Black Sabbath is said to have created original heavy metal music, but to me they are a sound mixture of psychedelic rock and HEAVIER rock (aka heavy metal).
@Guitarbro221 I know, but you cannot deny that this does contains some segments/elements of rock. That is undeniable. Furthermore, blues is closely associated with rock.
@superchef78 I know never said they werent rock. lemme re-word that its more bluesy rock with jazz influence. Sabbath has had jazz influences .In there self titled track the drums fills are based from jazz fills and shit. but then again the jazz comes from folk dance music and blues. So guess you could say its all blues rock. Blues rock was one of the biggest influence on metal obviously.
@Guitarbro221 "I know never said they werent rock" -- I never said that you never said that either, incidentally. Your succeeding/other assessment after that is correct, though.
@Guitarbro221 I think you would be correct in saying so, yes. Previously, I genuinely thought you might be over-stating the jazz influences, but you certainly weren't, in retrospect.
@Guitarbro221 I always heard a lot of jazz influence in Black Sabbath--right from the start of their career. Take 'Wicked World', for instance. Iommi was heavily influenced by Django Reinhardt, or so I've read.
I been wondering a long time if I would ever hear the entire version of this. You can definitely hear the influence of the pop music at the time, and the backing vocals are something you would never come to expect. I am a huge Sabbath fan. Thanks for sharing this glimpse at their formatve years while they were obviously still discovering their sound!
Sounds like something Mountain would've done
