There seems to be much disagreement about what ballada are. In a traditional sense, i guess theyre soft emotional songs in a lyrical and musical sense such as love by john lennon. For metal, this changes. I consider any metal song with light instrumentation with an emotional or poignant tone to be a ballad, and the lyrics are less about love and more about deep depressing things

Blood Brothers is not really a ballad. Wasting Love is an Iron Maiden ballad. Hallowed Be Thy Name is pure heavy metal! What about Nothing Else Matters by Metallica? Only the first half of One sounds like ballad.
