  • Even commercials were awesome back then

  • Steve Allen looks like Gregory Peck to me!

  • The audience's and panel's initial reaction to her Martian was priceless!

  • John Daly was a married accomplished man as well as an intellectual...but does anyone else have their gaydar going off...he embraces the good looking guys too much.

  • Deborah is so cute and funny!! And Steve is HILARIOUS!!!

  • Steve Allen was a funny guy, but when he was in the dark, he was totally hysterical! John and the audience had a good time with Mr. Olsen!

  • LOL ! This is great .

  • I love the elegant handwriting, which dissolves into glorious silliness. We all love Lucy!

  • @Veggieman87My handwriting is very similar to hers, but I'm a boy.

  • To actually see Lucy, you must seek to 8:20.

  • I love how you can tell that Lucy was nervous to be there. She's so marvelously human and insecure. What an amazing woman she was. If only I could have met her.

  • So innocent yet so amusing (unlike today's crap)

  • "...sporting one right now?"... true moment in the comedy of manners!!!! Too bad that art form is nearly dead.

  • Aahhh 50´s America

  • Defintly a fav episode of mine!

  • Was Dorothy pregnant during this time??

  • So, since Deborah Kerr mentions "last night", I wonder if an episode was recorded Saturday.

  • @perlster When Deborah Kerr talks about the gentlemen in the front row who was coughing "last night", she means at her play because she was appearing on Broadway in Tea And Sympathy at the time this program was taped.

  • funniest best woman ever!

  • That commercial is really cool!!

  • I don't know, the part where they're cleanning that brush looks like pubic hair.

  • LOL "What did it say?" :O)

  • OMGLMAO! Lucy is great.

I love that the advert is still included. That's so cool!

  • that's strange...meet the panel and guests just walk in front of them.

  • This is fantastic. Amazing how Steve Allen always manages to ask the 'right' questions to get the laughs, like the clip with the man who makes feed bags. Haha, it never fails!

  • Apparently, it wasn't "amazing" - the producers have been reported to have sometimes "fed"questions to the first panelist.

  • I've heard that as well, but even so, Steve walked into it beautifully, as opposed to Hal Block. Block made it obvious and not very amusing. Steve Allen did it in style.

  • Yes, on occasion the producers offered a line of questioning off the subject to Steve Allen for laughs, but they did it only once in a program every so often. And, yes, Steve Allen does it beautifully. It requires a sophisticated technique and a bright panelist whose ego was more inclines to laughs than solutions.

  • Well, well thank goodness the BBC never carried advertisements. I just 'Love' Lucy!

  • I love genuine laughter!

  • me too

  • Good lord why dont we have shows like this anymore? even the commercials are fun!

  • @brosue4 Yeah...feels good to just focus on one thing and have time to do so... even the ad.

  • @brosue4 Yeah...feels good to just focus on one thing and have time to do so... even the ad.

And even more awesome to consider that the show AND commercials were done LIVE.

  • i like it when mr. daly laughs

  • I have never had cause to shave a peach, but if I did, I'd use a Remington.

  • This line is one of the all time funniest I've seen! It's right up with the Nudist Camp Operator and the Maker of Feedbags for Horses. Loved Lucy doing her "Martian" voice. Had everyone going.

  • haha lucy is so funny.

  • LOL I love Lucy

  • I wish Game Show Network would air these original commercials. They are a hoot!

  • lucy ball love her so funny

  • that was funny!

interesting seeing how they did commercials back then. guys singing about a razor? weird.

  • Wierd commercial yes. However, in a half hour, WML advertisers kept the ads to 3 minutes. 3 minutes period. GSN certainly crams more than 3 minutes in the WML rebroadcasts.

  • Air date: 02/21/54

  • That is Martian for yes.

As it turns out, Lucy did use some of those words in her "Woman from Mars" episode.

  • Thanx for posting this. Deborah Kerr is luscious. Maternity clothes were always good for loud yoks on WML -- especially since Dorothy Kilgallen was pregnant at the time.
