  • Canadian here as well who feels this approach is pretty rude. I am, admittedly, always a little surprised by how little Americans know of Canada or basically just about anywhere outside of their own country though. Now, hockey fans, they will probably know their Canada stuff!!

I have also been surprised by how little many, especially Western Canadians, know of their own country. I doubt it is pure stupidity though. It is the cultural acceptance of being completely self-involved.

  • Can you name one Mexican state ? There are 31, and I bet you can't name one.

  • @geraldcaron I agree that this vids unfair, but I don't think you can compare mexico and canada. we speak the same language and we are the biggest trading partners, and the place most foreign country.

  • 동영상에 대한 댓글 쓰기... lol sorry I meant most visited foreign country

  • I wanna see them name 10 American States. THEN come back.

  • Life is what you all make of it. Just use Google to look at things like KG, Why is US military metric and the rest of you are not? Ever think about that? There is no excuse now a days to not know who your president is or capital city of the "guy next door". Or where could that Niagara falls place be? You almost do not need any books now to find basics of the world. Where is the Atlantic and where is the Pacific. But these guys here,.they better be real educated. Someone might ask time zones. LOL

  • Celine Dion's Canadian? ..... wow.... a lot of celebrities I thought are American turns out are Canadian..... sometimes they turn out to be European or Australian.... I seem to subconsciously have a default belief that all celebrities are American.... damn subconscious....

  • Americans don't hate anyone, it's just a common stereotype. We've just had so much happen to us, 9/11, Civil Rights Movements, etc. And plus, America has it's share of dumb people, but who doesn't? The problem is people perceive these people as the American stereotype. And in terms of this video, who cares about provinces or areas of other areas? If I were to ask you what the capital of India was I bet you only 1/3 of the people answering were to get it right.

  • @TheLuther527 Man ... ''We've just had so much happen to us, 9/11, Civil Rights Movements, etc.'' that's a pure bullshit , you don't know nothing about hard times .People who create your country was just a bunch of fucking deserters...Britain fucked it up they should never let their own people turn their backs on them ... And americans are one of the dumbest country in the world. You don't know shit about anything important, all you care about is who fucked some hollywood slut last week...

  • @rebeliant7 No, the only problem with our country is the media. Really, if we never had all this MTV crap, or rap music, this country would be way different. As I stated above, every country has it's dumb people. Don't act like Poland is this big fucking perfect Eutopia.

  • any americans read this heres your answer- territories are yukon, northwest territories, and nunivit. provinces are bc (british columbia), alberta, saskatchewan, manitoba, ontario, quebec, pei (prince edward island), nova scotia, new brunswick, and newfoundland. and sorry for celine dion, but at least we gave you insulin, cell phones, and power (quebec powers half of new york). so i hope that makes up for it.

  • @joggingbanana I don't usually correct people's spelling but it is Nunavut not nanivit

  • @Stackcritic yeah, i was just typing quick and wasnt too conserned with the spelling. kinda like how you spelled the incorrect way incorrect from how i spelled it. but hey, at least i remember it was a territory since it only became one in 1999, so at my age we didnt even learn about it in school.

  • @Stackcritic and yes i am also aware i just spelled concerned wrong, again just typing quick so i make mistakes but you get the piont.

  • Comment removed

  • @MartiniShelby your comment was removed but its still in my inbox. and i dont think you make much sense. thats probably why it was removed. Nunavut is the proper spelling and its a territory. and whats that about flipping a switch and my state? i though i made it pretty clear im canandian and we don't have states here. maybe read your comments a little better before clicking post.

  • Come talk to me (an American) and I'll name at least 5 or 6. It's easy to make a country look stupid when you talk to a select few and edit out the people who may actually have know the correct answer.

  • @NOLAStaticKill ya but thats what makes this so funny. u could do it to any country, its just that people like picking on americans

  • Ya, this was a bit rude. I'm Canadian and we know that we're smarter about geography, Americans aren't raised to know anything about anyone else.

  • When I went to school in Canada we had to take American history & geography...

  • Did the guy on the train say TIBET WTF????

Probably some shit he heard on jerry spinger

  • @bauuau18

It was difficult to hear distincly but he said QUEBEC (province of), and the other man said : Montreal.

  • Americans have been left in the dust in education

    kept ignorant on purpose

for if they learned the truth they would riot the same day

  • lol I'm not young just so you know and I never said it's ok but I'm just stating a fact that most americans (not all) think they're superior and that they are the greatest. But this video proves otherwise and that's why it's funny... learn to have a sense of humour. I saw a video the other day that made fun of canadians and I laughed , you just gotta stop being so uptight

  • sure ask people who are drinking questions, they are getting reading for the police questions later

  • Nova Scotia , Prince Edward Island , Newfoundland , Quebec , Manitoba.

    Territories :

    Yukon

    Nunavut

    Northwest Territories

  • @DrummaBoyFB Where's British Columbia, Alberta, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Saskatchewan, and New Brunswick? Also isn't it Newfoundland and Labrador and not just Newfoundland?

  • @SolOfTheArcangel I'm DrummaBoyFB just so you know this is a different channel of mine. and I did name all of those and yes it's really newfoundland and labrador but in ontario we just shorten it to newfoundland

  • Ahhh, when I lived in British Columbia that's what I called it in Vancouver, so either way we're both right.

  • lol . I'm canadian (from Ontario) and this is hilarious. Americans think they're all that but in reality they don't know anything besides America because they believe America is the World. I can Name like 10 states off the top of my head -Pennsylvania -Michigan -Kansas - North and South Dakota - Alaska - Hawaii - Califonia - Texas - New York -Boston -Ohio I could keep going but I think I've proved my point. Oh and btw then 10 provinces are : Ontario BC Alberta Saskatchewan New Brunswick
  • @DrummaBoyFB I dont understand how someone visits a country then ask them a bunch of questions so they can say how stupid they are. Have your parents never shown you how to act in public.

  • @trekranger lol yes I do know how to act in public. It's just really funny to see this because most americans think they're the world and that they know everything.

Whereas Canada and US are basically the same.

  • @CodingMadeEasy So you think it's o.k. to go to a country and try and show how stupid they are ? So you know most americans to say such a thing ? To me it sounds like a very young person who thinks they have it all together. Sorry you can not see how wrong it is to act in such a way.

  • @trekranger youtube.com/watch?v=uAmkHyYCPUg&feature=related

watch that video. The people are sober and he even asks the mayors and they still look stupid! You can try and defend america all you want but America ain't all that special

  • y would americans kno anything about a country as useless as canada

  • how come US are so silly and dont know nothing? I'm Canadian, I've seen 100 American's who thought Canada was called Tim Hortons.....

  • I care about Saskatchewan. It reminds me of home. I live on the prairie.

  • My 3: Alberta. BC. And (my favorite) Ontario.

  • i wouldnt be able to do this either but i could name all 50 states and tell u where they are. this isnt fair for americans we dont pay attention to canada as were if u went to canada and asked them to name states they probably couldnt do it either

  • @mikey41rules

I can name like 20 states on the top of my head and i'm european

I even know 3 canadian provinces and canada isn't even our neighboring country.

American intelligence is a joke lol

  • @solidturckie When other countries start effecting my life then i'll start paying attention to them. Why come here if you have no respect for us. Go to france or some other country that you respect. Do canadian parents no educate there childeren on how to act in other places ? Very rude.

  • @mikey41rules Most Canadians can name many states, we study the rest of the world too

  • I'm Canadian and this is rude and super pretentious. 22 minutes did it in the interest of comedy and it was a TV show, they were trying to get ratings. Plus Rick Mercer has great comedic timing, you guys are just trying to show off. You'd better be rocket scientists and hope you are never wrong about anything.

  • @MartiniShelby Say, are those provinces like states in the US? I mean, I know Canada has a federal system of government so i am asking are this provinces of the level of a state?

  • I don't think Americans are the only ones who aren't able to answer questions about Canada. I think pretty much the entire planet couldn't care less about your country. The interest in learning about Canada just isn't there. You know what I'm saying?

  • @kcal75 You don't need to live in France to know which city contains the Eiffel Tower. You know what I'm saying?

  • Comment removed

  • The dude at the end even knew Saskatchewan!! I swear an eighth of Canadians' forget about us lol.

  • @XxXAFIXxXROCKXxX Saskatchewan : The hardest province to spell, and the easiest province to Draw

  • Canada is so boring

  • its unfortunate but most of us americans just dont care about canada

  • @vicecity872 could it be because a defining part of Canadian culture is anti-americanism?

  • @ChewbacaChunx Do you blame us?

  • @ericleb01 Yes, it's ignorant to assume that. There are bad apples in every country, but generalizing others is a surefire way to sound ignorant and pretentious.

  • I guess Canada tries hard to not be ignorant. Our educational systems are more focused on other nations. I had to memorize every state in the US, & every country & capital in every continent. & other years are focused on Canada & the US's relations. So blame your education systems, I think ours is mighty fine.

  • Great concept; I like the "Rick Mercer" angle.

This could have been better if the backround interruptions; two/three conversations going on, and the 'Americans' asked were a bit more game to speak to.

All in all...love seeing this BIT on talking to Americans- amateur, or not.

    I AM CANADIAN!!!

  • @JDogDrums Canada supplies us with water, oil, lumber, electricity, iron and food.

No one gives a fuck about Canada, Thats the most stupid thing I have ever heard.

most of our big banks are now being run by canadians.

  • @coolyankeestar YAY i love meeting smart people

  • @walkertexasranger33 Will stay in Canada then..

  • I'll admit there are some very stupid people here but that's because our education system is terrible, one of the worst in the developed world (unless you're rich) but we also have some of the world's best universities. The reason the everyone thinks we're so stupid is because we aren't taught about the rest of the world.

  • @DougRayside that is called BS

  • Woopadeedoo, Americans are stupid, what a big deal. It's not like it's anything new. Like the whole world didn't already know that Americans are ignorant morons. Were you people actually surpised? If so, then you must be a dumb ass American yourself.

  • @proud2BbIack no, we weren't surprised that you guys were stupid. We just REALLY enjoy making fun of that fact. And when we do come across a smart American, we appreciate his knowledge.

  • @JDogDrums hey fuck you !

  • Americans are not stupid its just that thier media and learning program does'nt care about learning about other countries but thier own so they are pretty much selfish not dumb or stupid i know to much about the USA and not enough of my own country lol I know like 20 states out of the rest and the Americans couldn't even say two to bad for thier learning system and media =(

  • @TheEliteArbiter excuses... all my media is of american news.. and some bbc and canadian.. it does feature international but i dont watch the news too often.. people can read the paper or look on the interenet.. most people in North America have the itnernet

  • this is soo funny!

  • SOOOOOOO DUMB!!!!!

  • Elitist, pompous, and pathetic is what that is. I swear canadians are more into american culture and politics, then your own country (kinda, your still british subjects). Very sad indeed.

  • @Kmagnus80 Theres no such thing as a British subject we're called British citizens. Whats do you think is sad about being a British citizen?

  • @Kmagnus80 lol the only thing we're interested is whether or not you idiot americans going to elect michelle bachmenn and sarah palin for presidency.

And frankly, anything idiotic america does, canada gets dragged along with for the ride. So you can understand our "concerns".

  • @oldmagic Well your first paragraph is void and pointless, your obviously "concerned" with more than the presidency if you get dragged along for the ride. remember if that's true, good or bad you still get dragged along but i guess the good goes unnoticed.

  • @oldmagic Furthermore don't generalize Americans, we are far more diverse than you can comprehend, and although we are aware and concerned about our impact on other nations we also have a lot of domestic issues, that again you cant fully understand, that must take precedence at times

  • America is a large country and its political economic and cultural power lead other people to learn a lot about it both out of need and interest. We are large country with a lot more people than just these drunken uneducated people. you come to a country and insult their people with these absurd sound bites to make you feel better.

  • @Kmagnus80

    umad bro?

  • I'm Canadian, I can name all 50 states and their capitals.

  • @scooterissexy Canadians know more about the world than us Americans

  • its funny how americans know so little about a country which sustains them

  • @letsplaydoctorplease It is sad.

  • What...who are Americans? Are they from some region south of Canada or something? I didn't even know anyone lived there. Huh...

  • this is actually so funny.

  • Wow SASKATCHEWAN.

  • Lol stupid Americans, I'm Canadian and I can name all the states XD.

  • I'm American and I only know Ontario and Quebec, kill me. They don't teach us Canadian history.

  • Canada is the second largest country on the planet. The far west coast of that country is best because the winters are mild and you can surf year round at Tofino.

  • @BigBikerBob1 The storms in Tofino are a sight to see too.

  • @Kalimata101 You know it Bra. Just like the North Shore of O'ahu except the ocean temperatures in Tofino are a lot colder. Aloha

  • @BigBikerBob1 No kidding mate, you wear a wetsuit all year long in Tofino.

  • @Kalimata101 You know it Bra. Those west coast Canadian waters are mighty cold! I am use to the warm tropical waters, but I did live in Canada for a few years so I got a taste of cooler water. Hang Loose

  • I'm American and I can name all of the provinces. I did live in Vancouver for a few years. Canada is a great place and the wahines are hot!

  • @ipodprinter Well, Americans like Canada...our favorite foreign country. However, although we generally like Canadians, you won't find too many people here who care to learn much about Canada itself. I mean, nothing interesting happens in Canada as far as most of us are concerned. It's just a nice place up north full of generally nice people who feel slightly threated that American culture is destroying Canadian culture...and we trade a lot with you. That's about all we know about Canada.

  • @osallent Don't forget our oil & gas. What would you do without that?

  • omfg americans are so fucking stupid do they go to school like fuck cant evan name 2 provinces wow

  • No, we just don't care.

  • I am a hick? Please explain to me how and why. I wish idiots like yourself who feel the dire need to generalise entire groups of people based strictly on their home country (Be it the USA, UK, etc) would just cease to be. You all make me sick. You are embarrassing to the nation you reside in, and if you are actually above the age of 14, you might want to consider suicide as a practical remedy to your ignorance.

  • nice job spelling "Canadians" wrong.

  • Don't act so high. America is just the Rome of the ancient times. You'll come and go very quickly.

  • why do other countrys attack the american people off the street? shouldnt they attack american goverment for making cut after cut from our education making it impossible to get a good education. That would be a smart thing to do instead of asking ridiculous questions that dont better anyone, maybe you should really question your own smarts

  • maybe, because AMERICUNTS are dumb!

  • That's funny because your country is in recession, many people are jobless, and you guys are still making nuclear weapons, while we are living in a peaceful country with free health care and doing much better economy-wise.

    I wonder who's winning?

  • @OlderG0ds Wayne Gretzsky might say Hello... But I say, how does Silver taste in Olympic Hockey? 2002 in Salt Lake and 2010 in Vancouver :D

  • I love how you spell "Canadian" correctly, but failed to spell "Canadians". Twice. Really, was pluralizing that difficult?"

  • dude im American but Canada has a huge film industry

  • @wilmer5562 good one "all canadiens watch are american shows" your a smart one.

  • to ESponge2000: You named them all, but you went west to east, not east to west. You get credit for naming them in an order tho.

  • The USA know nothing about any country. They don't even know dick all about their own country. Stupid dumbass redneck nation.

  • i dont even know wat america is...is it a province or a city????

  • @fktheworld1 its a river

  • lame video

i'm guessing the chick behind the camers goes about 250 and is as dumb as a stump

  • I don't know if this speaks more for the education system or the culture as a whole but wow.

  • This is so sad... I guess that Canadian's know quite a bit more about America than they know about us because they have an influence on us, but it doesn't return to them completely, which unfortunately causes them to be just a little on the ignorant side of Canada. Not everyone, though, of course. States like Washington, Montana and Maine would probably know more about us than Southerners, though.

  • i dont blame the americans who dont know or care, i am canadian and dont know much about the states or care....the only state i want to go to is california because they are as relaxed as canadians about weed....but still atleast i know california,texas,colorado,michigan,florida..........

  • at a boy ESponge2000

  • I'm an American and I knew since I was about 14 years old, all 10 of them...to save space I'll do them by abbreviation, going east to West BC, AB, SK, MB, ON, QC, NS, NB, PE, NL....Territories: NU, NY, YT

  • sorry, your wrong... i live in BC, and its not right at all... but to be honest i dont know any states, and ill admit it

  • WTF? ,and you admit that?

  • i;m so proud ESponge200 you only had to name 13 and you didn't even have a computer to help you..... i forgive alll of the ignorent people in your country now just because you did that

  • sorry bout my last comment i have to make clear that i don't mean alll the people in the usa are ignorent and i'm not saying no one in canada is....just thought i'd clear that up before someone bitches at me

  • Google is easy ya know lol

  • there is 13 prov and territories dumb fuck

  • : )

  • Oh, wow, you sure seem to know a lot about Americans. You certainly seem to keep up on your ridiculous stereotypes.

  • ugh fucking canandians, they alway come though my michigan town all high and mighty like they know more than any american, last week we had a candian who got cold cocked by some black dude who saw him bad mouthing a clerk calling her stupid whore and shit like that, he left in a heart beat, and we havent seen him hear ever again

  • Why don't you learn to spell Canadians, before you go off on an entire nation of people. Thanks.

  • This is fricken hilarious, I want to go to the States one day JUST to do this... :P

  • i agree there so dumb

  • This really is sad, but I have always known the Amercians are very ignorant when it come to their northern neighbors. I can easily name every 50 states. They obviousley don't learn dick all about us in geography.

  • Can you name even 2 of the oblasts of Russia(I'm not asking you to; I assume you can Google)? The importance of Canada to the US is trivial. We get our beer from there and play some Canadian teams in hockey. (I know we get a lot of software and other things, but...) But there is so little of importance to the average citizen that it's not of a lot of importance. The US, on the other hand, is more important for Canadians. Russia's importance to Canada is about like Canada's importance to America.

  • It's sad that our neighbors know dick all about us here in Canada. I'm not talking about Russia either. I'm talking about a country that is attached to our's and the only thing that divides us is an invisible border. Very ignorant statement you just posted , but it doesn't suprise me at all.

  • In a globalized world, geography doesn't mean that much any more. Not to mention, parts of Canada are closer to Russia than they are to Vegas. So your statement really doesn't hold up that well. Besides, my point was to do with comparison of importance. I was making the point that Russia's importance to Canada is about like Canada's importance to the US. And guessing by your response, you know very little about Russia's geography.

Also, "our's" is not used properly in your statement. :P

  • That is the silliest thing I've ever heard. I know more about Russia and world Geography than you think, but that's not the point. The point I'm trying to make is US & Canada share the same border, we are also close trading partners. So you'd figure people south of the border would learn about the country that is right above them on the map.

  • Sorry, the character limit cut me off, but I had another point to make. I doubt most Canadians know the geography of all of their neighbours. I'm sure if I went to BC and asked them to name the provinces of Greenland, I could get quite a sample of people that can't even name one. Another example of the importance of a nation to the people and how well the people know it.

  • Sorry, I couldn't bother to argue with you over my free healthcare.

  • lol i think im goin to play a game like this next week when im in missouri and tennessee.. hahahah * evil eyes*

  • haha there is the sae thing but its americans and persians

  • research the new world order

  • This is so-o-o funny. I met an American who lived in Canada ten years and had no idea what Ottawa was. I told him I had vistied the parliament building in Ottawa and he had no idea why there were parliament buildings there. And he also had a masters degree and worked in Government. Pathetic. He asked me what state Washington DC was is and I knew it was a "District" not a state.

  • they are also 90% to ignore where is afghanistan

  • North Dakota , South Dakota, Montana, Minnesota, New York, Virginia, Maryland, Wyoming, New Jersey, Pennsylvania ten states I can name more those are the ones I've been to. Ten Cities Bismark, North Dakota Pierre the Capital of South Dakota Manhattan, New York, Norfolk , Virginia Baltimore, Maryland Atlantic City, New Jersey Philadelphia , Pennsylvania Minneapolis , Minnesota Washington , DC US Capital Seattle , Washington
  • haha I know there are 10 provinces and 3 territories.(Yukon for one).someone actually asked me this and they felt kind of stupid since I actually knew some! hah

but all I know is..Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, & Newfoundland...off of my head..

haha oh well..not bad for an American huh?! =)

  • You know what they say about assumption. ^_~

  • haha yah! Besides, my boyfriend is a Canadian!

  • Hehe.

  • I hear that Obama is working with Stephen Harper to work out a deal to unite Canada and the U.S. and they're going to call it North America. It's risky. I honestly don't think that it's a good idea. I don't think we could get along if we were to share a continent. But I'm hoping that I'm wrong.

  • Its called the North American Union...it also involves Mexico. And I agree with you 100% it is NOT a good idea. But at this points its probably just theory.

  • why do they all know quebec? i thought they didn't like french people

  • What's the capital of Tennessee?

  • Who fucking cares? Whats the capital of Yukon? I bet you had to look that up.

  • It's Nashville, obv. :l

  • Oohhhh. kanadians in America. Ohhhh. It's so special.

How much did that cost communist broadcasting corpcraption?

Like. Just get over yourselves. The world decided that you were the lil ole kountry kunt to America. Just accept this. Okay?

  • i think you are just talking out of your ass. which explains your fuckin dumbass comments. u r probably a in bred hillbilly so why don't you go back to your trailer and watch some Jerry Springer its a little more up ur alley.

  • Was this in Seattle, or where?

  • Yeah! I like how they always think of Québec first! we rock! Oh and these Americans (obviously not all of them) are quite ignorant... so sad... The last one was awesome, I hope if got his drink! And why apologize for Céline Dion? Let's face it, she has a great voice and is a sweet woman...

  • wow... Canadians in America asking Americans about Canadians.... UR inferiority complex is showing!!!

  • And American shortsightedness, selfcenteredness and xenophobia is... well, lets say you should maybe do a 'turn and zip.'

  • yee vancouver!!

  • Not all of us are like this. Most of us are, though. But you can't expect much of us staties when we're in Vegas drunk as skunks

  • You make a very good point. :)

  • Actually, I do find it quite sad that some Americans are ignorant about Canada because since we're all global citizens, we should be at least aware of our world and surrounding countries. Therefore, knowing the provinces of Canada isn't really trivial and it should be something that Americans need to get an understanding of.

  • The U.S. should become a part of Canada you mean.

  • this video was funny.. but just alittle annoying

  • Comment removed

  • these people are making canadians look like fuckin goofs

  • Wow. It's A Little Sad That Some Americans Know So Little About The Places Surrounding Them.

  • there all hicks that know shit

  • That really is sad.

  • Quebec seems popular, I thought though most would get Ontario as it's like a main province. I'm from Nova Scotia, which is a province, probably not many would know to name lol.

  • Baghdad?!! wow...

  • Oh I know, sorry...that was my friend.

Shes from Germany so she doesent really know.

  • First off, Canadian's are making fun of American's because they know nothing about Canada, incase you didn't get that from these videos, but if you came here, you would see that most of us know more about your country than you do. And we're obviously much more polite than you people, as well as more knowledgable about things.

  • That is untrue, we didn't make fun of Americans. Second of all i can name ten states. Thrid I highy doubt u know more about my country than I do. And to rap things off..... that last statement didn't have ONE true word in it.

  • You realize that when you guys swear, you're usually pretty serious, but when we swear, it's out of FUN! We joke around way more than you guys. You're too serious and aggresive. Honestly, I bet you don't even know that we became a country through peace while you guys ripped people to shreds because they spoke with a redcoat.

(I mean during the revolutionary war, not now, I don't think.)
