The word "religion" comes from the Latin religionem which means: respect for what is sacred. God Almighty is certainly sacred and his Only Son Jesus Christ came to Earth more than 2,000 years ago and instituted His Church through St. Peter. when i was in 3rd grade. at night i was asleep. i heard a voice. and that manly strong firm voice said "i love you and ill never forget you!" i wake up ask my sister if she heard anything and she replied no. everytime when im troubled and need help i come back to those words and thos simple words. which god has bestowed upon me. helps me get back on track and keep me going. i also think of this song showing how great he is and he still thinks of me! i am only 14

We may be Baptist, Lutheran, Catholic--it doesn't matter, because Gods ways are higher than our ways, and higher than our thoughts. Commenting on the discussion in regards to suicide, the fact of the matter is that only God does know for sure. It would appear to us that suicide is the result of a lack of faith and trust in God to solve our problems and taking our lives is signing our eternity to Satan. However, I do not have a religion; rather a deeper thirst for the Savior or the WORD, thus, I have a relationship with Father. (i.e., one thirst to see one's girl day to day).
For in Scripture it says: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame." Do not trust or lay your foundation on Peter. I was at a church conference a few months ago, and worship went 2 hours over what it was supposed to be. Most people left, but me and a few other people were left. I was so caught up in it, that I started bawling my eyes out.

I think it is more easy to feel God's presense when young. Sometimes His presense makes you cry, or laugh, one time I just sank to my knees basking in the love I felt being poured on me and just in awe of HIM.

For those who say God is not here. God is every single liveing thing around you He's standing right beside you and you dont even know it, i think i read in the bible it says if you look upon God youll go blind due to his holyness he is as bright as the sun. i guess the reason he doesnt really show him self cause if he was to guide us through everything we wouldnt learn anything and the free will thing wouldnt be needed.. he lets us make choices if he was here directly we wouldnt need thati guess
Spirtuality is what you do that connects yourself to God. Religion is what connects us spirtualy with other people. Think of it this way. There is a vertical line that is created between you and God when you do somethign spirtual. There is a horizontial line that reaches out to other people when u partake in religon. What does that make? A cross. While I agree that christians get too wrapped up in religion, it is NOT a bad word. Sorry for being one of those guys
However, I think it is a movement in christianity while, with a good meaning, is wrong. Religion is not somethign to be scared of. (By the way the religion/spirtuality thing didn't come from me but a pastor in my area, so don't give me credit for that idea). Instead think of doing both toghether, so then not only will we connect with God, but other people as well.
That Vertical Line that connects us with God - enables that horizontal line that are the relationships seeded by the vertical line. ;-). We both love the pastors that use that illustration.

Yes, Christians do get too wrapped up in religion but it shouldn't be that way. Christianity isn't "a set of beliefs". Christianity is a love for Jesus. Christians shouldn't BELIEVE that Jesus died for them to forgive their sins. They should KNOW that. I don't think people should treat being a Christian just following rules that were set by someone else. Being a Christian is more than that.
@XMFKSX I will say you are right in must of what you say, especially with that the love to Jesus. But about Believing and knowing I can't agree with you, one of the must beautiful things about Christianity is that about BELIEVING that Jesus saved us, if it were knowledge it wasn't hard at all and almost anyone would be Christian. But if we believe we put faith in Jesus, and by putting that faith in him we will love him more :)

Yes, religion is a manmade thing. Christianity is not religion because it is not manmade--it is Godmade. We may be Baptist, Lutheran, Catholic--it doesn't matter, because Gods ways are higher than our ways, and higher than our thoughts. That's why I don't go to church, because a "church" should not be focused on a manmade buidling, but on a relationship made with God--and I would rather be a Little Chirst than a Baptist any day!

Commenting on the discussion in regards to suicide, the fact of the matter is that only God does know for sure. It would appear to us that suicide is the result of a lack of faith and trust in God to solve our problems and taking our lives is signing our eternity to Satan. However, we cannot know for sure what is going on it those individuals souls and minds. Mental illness has driven people to do things that are extremely foolish.....(next comment)

who said that if you commit suicide and your a christian you wont go to hell? have you ever read the Bible? if a christian commits suicide then it means that he lost his hope. it means he does not believe that Jesus can fix whatever his problems are. people who commits suicide are people who lost their will to live and that is the work of Satan.

you know what gets on my nerves a little bit? all the preaching that gets done online and to saved people, and how little others take up the calling that we " are a holy nation a royal PRIESTHOOD, His own special people" there needs to be less a desire to preach to those already saved and to go out to the people who need it. this includes me so if youre a little annoyed or something don't get mad, just change :)

I agree with SavedStriker. We need each other and religion is how people pray together and work together and worship and receive God individually and with and through each other. The gospels are full of apostles praying for each other. Gathering together. Jesus said you are the Rock (Peter) and upon this Rock(Peter) I will build my CHURCH. However, I do not have a religion; rather a deeper thirst for the Savior or the WORD, thus, I have a relationship with Father. (i.e., one thirst to see one's girl day to day).

I cry sometimes when I'm in worship.
I was at a church conference a few months ago, and worship went 2 hours over what it was supposed to be. Most people left, but me and a few other people were left. I was so caught up in it, that I started bawling my eyes out.
Who said the youth can't experience God to the fullest? I'm 13!

I think it is more easy to feel God's presense when young. Sometimes His presense makes you cry, or laugh, one time I just sank to my knees basking in the love I felt being poured on me and just in awe of HIM.
God is so wonderful, He will never leave you. Try to do your best in where He leads you and you will always be happy in knowing you are pleasing Him and He will bless you very much! Love to you sister!

Actually - it's not a pictue about sin - it's a picture of what is missing - like a children's puzzle :-)
There is a square, a circle, and a triangle - but the missing piece of the puzzle if the Holy Spirit. :-)

Spirtuality is what you do that connects yourself to God. Religion is what connects us spirtualy with other people. Think of it this way. There is a vertical line that is created between you and God when you do somethign spirtual. There is a horizontial line that reaches out to other people when u partake in religon. What does that make? A cross. While I agree that christians get too wrapped up in religion, it is NOT a bad word. Sorry for being one of those guys

However, I think it is a movement in christianity while, with a good meaning, is wrong. Religion is not somethign to be scared of. (By the way the religion/spirtuality thing didn't come from me but a pastor in my area, so don't give me credit for that idea). Instead think of doing both toghether, so then not only will we connect with God, but other people as well.

That Vertical Line that connects us with God - enables that horizontal line that are the relationships seeded by the vertical line. ;-). We both love the pastors that use that illustration.
Pure religion is what the Lord looks for - and it is all about our relationship with others.

Yes, Christians do get too wrapped up in religion but it shouldn't be that way. Christianity isn't "a set of beliefs". Christianity is a love for Jesus. Christians shouldn't BELIEVE that Jesus died for them to forgive their sins. They should KNOW that. I don't think people should treat being a Christian just following rules that were set by someone else. Being a Christian is more than that.

@XMFKSX I will say you are right in must of what you say, especially with that the love to Jesus. But about Believing and knowing I can't agree with you, one of the must beautiful things about Christianity is that about BELIEVING that Jesus saved us, if it were knowledge it wasn't hard at all and almost anyone would be Christian. But if we believe we put faith in Jesus, and by putting that faith in him we will love him more :)

ok so usually I keep my mouth shut on these kind of things, but I have to comment on something, not neccissarly on the video (which I love by the way), but in the author's description of the video.
So many people are claiming today that religion is such a bad word. For me I am am sick of that. Just for the record, I am 18 years old so this isn't an old geezer talking. You see, there are two different aspects to connecting with God, spirituality, and religion. (continuing with next comment
