Yes ...But...can you take a Art Tatum recording and put it on a cd and listen to Art Tatum live.? In Other words is it possible to record great classical or jazz pianist and then play through your player system..?
@pinkieldred Listen to the song "Yesterdays" by Gordon Goodwin, because that's exactly what he did. He took the famous 1949 recording of Art Tatum playing Yesterdays and put it into a Disklavier, adding his own big band backgrounds, and recording the acoustic piano recreating Art's performance. Interestingly enough, the song that Peter used at the end with the Alto sax solo is "Punta del Soul" by Gordon Goodwin.
@SupahflyJazzguy I apologize, Punta del Soul is originally by Peter Grusin, but it still stands that Gordon Goodwin had both those songs on his album "Act Your Age."
Hi Peter! Beautiful music and very entertaining. I have an older version of the Disklavier on my Yamaha G3 and I really enjoy it, but this DS6 is amazing! I would like to learn more. By the way, I recently recorded some video for YouTube playing on my Yamaha. I would love to share them with you, just search "Lisa Linsky" on YouTube.
Peter Baartmans annoys me, and why must he always play that pop/Ballad type stuff???? Why cant he play classical or something that will really show off the piano???? -Thats really aimed when he shows of digital piano's.....
@mrfourtysevenman 20k is a pretty decent price for a good piano. You should check the prices that they charge for the bigger Steinways or Bechsteins, not to mention Bösendorfer or Fazioli pianos.
And any pianist will tell you that they're worth it.
Does the type of wood affect the tone & sound of a grand piano? For example, most Grand Pianos you see are in the typical ebony wood glossy finish. According to the online catalog, in addition to the ebony wood, it is also available in mahogany and walnut woods. I happen to like the look of a mahogany piano (I currently have a 1950s Baldwin Acrosonic Spinet upright piano in mahogany) but I wouldn't want to pay a large amount for a disklavier only to have it sound bad in mahogany.
What you say is right and proper. But your question is too technical and too particular ... I suggest you write directly to Yamaha Corporation for knowing which material is made the Disklavier that you like !!
The finish of the piano frame doesn't have any effect on the sound. The mahogany and walnut looks you describe is simply a veneer. The reason all-black has become so common is because it's cheaper than paying X amount of dollars per foot of veneer to make it look nicer.
If you like mahogany, the only difference you'll notice is the price.
wow! that yamaha grand piano is soooooooo great! perfect sound! i love it!
