  • Great picture of Elliott.

  • okay, i like that 70's show, i used to watch it all the time as a teenager.

but honestly, forget the fact that the song was featured in that. fuck it. that's the farthest thing from what this cover is represents, however cool it is that that sort of advertisement brought it more exposure.

  • @johnnypocketable it was more than an advertisement, this song was used frequently on that 70s show because it served as a theme for eric and donna;s relationship, so bringing it up just means that what this cover represents lives on

  • Such a special, talented man... rest in peace, Elliott, you will be sorely missed. <3

  • I got to see Elliot live at Carniege Mellon in Pittsburgh about 14 years ago now. One of the great pleasures of my musical experiences. What a great loss. RIP, Elliot.

  • That's 70's Show final... so sad

  • He conveys the uncertainty & excitement of first love like I've never heard anyone come close to. His voice is so full of hope & wonder on that final verse, it just takes my breath away. And the guitar work is exquisite.

  • Elliott Smith, Alex Chilton and Chris Bell are now making fucking beautiful music in heaven for sure...

  • @rafaelmadferit I've spent large parts of my life being a fuck you in your face atheist, and I still am just a tad, not really anymore, but either way I love the comment bro.

  • @rafaelmadferit Heaven isn't real. They're all gone... except for what they left behind here.

  • @ronrutherford Shamelessly pressing your beliefs on others eh. I don't necessarily believe in it either.

I don't know what to believe in because there isn't definitive proof either way. I do not like to deal in absolutes.

But it's generally considered to be a less than decent thing to do that.

  • OK could have been better though

  • This sucks.

  • I love him

  • if a guy gave me a tape with this song on it i would either avoid him forever or instantly fall in love

  • He sings Big Star pretty good, but I don't like this one too much...

  • Maybe after 10 sessions...

  • @JIPALIG Yep.

  • steve is such a jock name

  • Håkan Hellström <3

  • @JIPALIG no and

  • Un ejemplo de como el rock puede ser bonito... Grande Big Star, gracias por estar ahí... Gracias Elliott Smith.

  • its so whiny and nasally

  • @JIPALIG yes..

  • @JIPALIG Yes, I would believe so.

  • @JIPALIG it is just so unique thats all

  • @JIPALIG I mean when he sings those suicidal songs, no one else can capture that dark mood like him

  • @JIPALIG You are.

  • 4 people skipped age thirteen...

  • This version is much more intimate than the original. It's the sound of a thirteen year old playing into his webcam, alone in his bedroom, with the vague hope that someone out there will understand what he feels.

  • @jbsamakis On the contrary, I think Alex Chilton better captures the feeling of youth. Elliott's version sounds more nostalgic in a plaintive way. This may be my tendency to colour everything he does with his depressive personality, but that's what I hear.

  • This is my favorite song, at the moment. It's brilliant!

  • I didn't know much of Elliot Smith and that is a shame... I really love his music!!! Great cover of one of the best songs ever written. Rip Elliot and Alex chilton....

  • Elliot I love u my dear ......

  • what a fucking great smile!

  • One person doesn't have a soul.

  • RIP to the best human ever!

  • @zigwontdie You're a fucking retard.

  • Even his smile is a genius !

  • My band and I did a cover of this epic song.

  • wow. there are no words. I could not think of a person I would rather have cover my favourite song. Thi8s is amazing.

  • Donna and Eric's song hahaa

  • :))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

  • great song, great cover, great original, just great :P

  • That 70's Show Classic!

  • @anovirno is it really on that 70s show?

  • @314fox413 Yeah, it's eric's and donna's

  • @314fox413 Big Star also did the theme song for that 70's show.

  • @anovirno won't me let me stab me in the heart

  • @BOKNOWSCOMPUTERS what u mean?

  • @anovirno

in the show it's the original artist Big Star, but a great cover none the less. Writing this post, this is the first time i've heard shit cover, and its pretty well done.

  • @anovirno That is exactly why I keep listening to this song!

  • @CeceJones123

Really? Not because it's a good song, but because it was on some shitty anti-intellectualist sitcom?

  • @gdoddmeta3608 Yupp, really! :)

  • @anovirno

Fuck you, and fuck That 70's Shit

    TEAM FRASIER FTW

  • This is a cover of the Big Star original.

  • Go ahead.

  • Love it

  • great stuff.

  • Even better than the version on the 'Lucky 3' video. Five stars
