I think the site's success is not just the concept, the content, or the fancy voting algorithm. I think it has a lot to do with the engaging culture of its community. Pun threads, notwithstanding.
@dropthecubicle Yes, there is hope for non-technical cofounders of web startups -- as long as they're willing to work their asses off. Bonus points if they can doodle mascots, too.
