don`t bring your stupid football stuff into this song. it`s a brill song. you morons who think it`s about the Catholic or the protestant get a life. It`s a song about the BRAVE lads that do our fighting for us.. Past & present.. Well done my pal Billy who also has no time for you moronic dip-sticks out there.
i first heard this on tape in my dads car when i was about 13 and it struck home even then! even as a simple wee song its just amazing and then years down the line i heard it done with the dubliners, one of my favourites
@PissDritt This is off the Double C.D. "Thirty years a Greying" celebrating the Dubliners being on the road thirty years.. On same they are also joined by The Pogues, De Dannan, Hot House Flowers and the great Rory Gallagher... Ronny Drew also sings a few gems on this Album.. "The Death Of The Bear" and "The Sands of Sudan" i think at least one is up on Youtube!!!!!
@PissDritt .... It's great album.. what's that they say about giving Unsolicited advice to anyone... "don't give it as half the people won't take, it and the outher half already know it!..." slainte...
I thought that was the Dubliners playing. I heard Ronnie Bear Drew for sure. Never knew connolly sang with them in a session.
