The point of covering a song is to reinvent it in your own way, while still keeping original elements of the song. If Jonsi were to simply throw together a version exactly like the original, then that would just be lazy and boring. But he didn't, because he's brilliant and very talented.

Rarely is there a good remix or cover song. The actual sound evokes an emotion, in all three cases, in which I C 2 problems: 1) The "emotion" is somehow particular to that one sound, & 2) the entire atmosphere, usually the entire track, is felt solely on that response. Can't find another sound that gives the same feelin. no room 2 talk

Love this cover too. I actually don't take this song to be advocating for rock stars to throw away their life on drugs. What I think is cool is that the song acknowledges that a lot of rock stars do get messed up on drugs and caught up in that kind of a lifestyle because they don't see much of an alternative. To me the song is saying that the rock lifestyle can actually be pretty sad. Which is a moving thing to say... especially with Jonsi singing :)

Wow, I'm surprised at how many people didn't like this! I was absolutely mesmerized. What an original and heartfelt take on the song. The only thing that's weird is that the message of the song is a little contrary to Jonsi-- throw your life away on drugs? Choke on your own vomit and that'll be the end? But the idea of leaving your former life behind is very endearing. Best of all, it's introducing Jonsi to a lot of people who wouldn't find out otherwise.
