For Miller life and litterature intersected. Even though most writing stems from life I can think of very few writers who actually come to life through their work. The key here is that a great life makes a great writer.
@ARJAY1962 He loathed it but he became a product of it. and so did his work. The way he expressed himself was indicative of some one born and bread in New York.
@ARJAY1962 Are you trying to say he isn't one of the greatest AMERICAN writers. And all because he loathed N.Y that doesn't mean it isn't one of the greatest cities in the world
i could listen to him talk all day. i fear that people are reading less and less and are missing out on some great stuff. life is short! read more. travel. go sailing!
It's a great present for me! I'm an italian miller's reader. I discovered him in 2002, then I've red, two or three times, all of his books (the Tropics, the Rosy Crucifixion Trilogy, the Colussus of Maroussi, and others..). He's a kind of man that today is very difficult - if not impossible - to meet. So videos like that are precious.
where on earth did this wonderful piece come from ? one of the all time greats.if you are anywhere between 20 and 35,read the tropics and prepare to be transformed.
thanks so much for posting, these are real treasures.
I've discovered h.m. when I was 34-35,perhaps late. Sometimes I ask me what change could have been made on my personality if I had red him when I was 20.
@StefMan1969 perhaps i was being to rigid with the age range, its never too late.its just life has changed so much since henry.he wanted to throw himself completely into the river of live and live no matter what the costs.now people view themselves as subject to so much social control and feel they are being articulated by ideology etc.
theres always something to learn from miller.GO FOR IT !
Wow, amazing speech by Miller, he's one of my great heros this guy, the way he talks, so rugged, so raw, so real, just utterly incapsulating and fully engaging.
this is gay as hell
