  • my dear my dear my dear u do not kno me but i kno u very well...

  • I look a bit like Charlie Brown. We have the same shirt, at least.

Quincy Jones helped me! Take that Riley! Mister Sigma: Quincy Jones. Riley Freeman: Miniature Power Trip.

This scoreboard is all fucked up.

  • Massive attack is better than any one who sampled this, they sampled this on exchange.

  • @tacosaucemafia LAWL

  • @tacosaucemafia And if i find out they didn't, I'm whipping your ass good sir. Lol

  • @tacosaucemafia So I listened to the song, shit is hot. It gives me a nice mellow feeling. However, the sample is from an Issac Hayes song, not Qunicy Jones. Also, you would have to give Americans more reasons to listen to British material. We have guys like Kanye West (I don't care if people don't like him, that man is a genius) J Dilla, 9th Wonder, DJ Premier, Flying Lotus, Madlib a.k.a Madvillain (I think, lol.), Timbaland, Swizz Beatz, and the list goes on.

  • Why is that you guys here in america all over these usa guys? Massive attack sampled this and they did it better than anyone else because they are better, but you cats stay in your little bubble of boring usa music I like Pharcyde and badu, but you guys need to listen to some other shit from other countries.

  • Vocal: Valerie Simpson

  • Michael Jackson on 2:16 ? no offense, guys

  • swag

  • Jay-z - Brooklyn

  • Gramatik sampled this too in his new album, which is probably the best album of the year btw!

  • my 420 drive home from work

  • HeLLo EvEryONE

I’m 17 years old, I sing and write songs

I’m in a small town, but I have big dreams

My dream is to be a singer, music is my life

And I would like that my dream can come true with the help of you guys.

I have covers up and I hope you can listen it.

So please give me a chance to show you that I can be a great singer and stop by my channel “anlimema” and check out my cover.

Please help me get my dream.

Thank you so much, your support really means the world to me.

  • @Anlimema No one gives a single fuck how old you are.

  • love this song ! been used a lot!

  • LL Cool J sampled this to "Diggy Down". I'm surprised that no one caught that, but then again, "14 Shots to the Dome" was LL 's wackest album.

  • @charlestonchewy i was just about to type it when i read you already had. does 'wackest' mean 'worst' these days? cuz i thought that was his best album.

  • @CJDiggs yes, wackest meaning bad, worse, terrible. That word has been used in context for almost 30 years now :-)

  • Little men in suits.... wish they would all melt.

Great video and great Quincy tune

  • Absolutely awesome version of this classic tune - and the video is true art!! :o)

  • Shitiest song and video ever!!!! =)

  • can you dig up some old things that havent been sampled before, pick a few and mix them all together then throw some original lines over it? no? then shut up. it takes a huge collection of vinyl to dig through and find some of the songs from various artists that have been sampled over the years, not to mention you actually have to listen to that music before you decide you want to sample it. That takes some true music taste, and yes, TALENT.

  • What some of u guys need to understand that us rappers are very talented our instrument is our voice.

  • Song Of The Day.

  • @RobMutronic Talentless!?

  • So this is where the Passing Me By sample comes from! Quincy Jones has been "recycled" in so many ways. I proves how much of a pure artist he is, when so many others use his work. And the text is used by Joe Cocker - Summer in the City!

  • Jazz grooving track.................NICE

  • Jazz grooving track.................NICE

  • The Pharcyde - Passin me by

  • Chillest song on earth!

  • What was the problem UMG had with the video?

  • The problem simply is that i have uploaded it coz nobody else including them had done that before... so they have been claiming copyright for that video....instead of uploading it themselves..hahaha...

  • @CaroVonAuersfeld

Well why would anyone buy it on iTunes if they uploaded it on YouTube? Their decision makes sense to me.

  • pharcyde is great but this is the song they used and all they did was raise the pitch and add bells and whistles so to say its better than this is pretty ignorant but okay.

They are different. This is Jazz/Funk and pharcyde is hip hop so whatever.

  • chilllllllllll @_@ U

  • pharcyde's did the best version of this... even better then this

  • i guess the twinkle in her eye is just the twinkle in her eye

  • Fantastic...!!!

  • sounds like Pharcyde have more directly sampled Nightmares on Wax - Nights Introlude take on this sample?

  • hum, you think so?

That's true that the bass lines are very alike

  • maybe, its certainly the same speed and tone, and nights interlude was released in 91, with passin me by bein released in 93. same origin from quincy of course, I just noticed that pharcyde's sample was identical to N.O.W's

  • so did I (notice)

  • excellent

  • And Joe feat. Mystikal - Stutter

  • is this on any of quincy's albums?

    tnx

  • You've Got It Bad Girl

  • We first heard Quincy Jones back in 1972 and have been a fan ever since. I still have this particular album, along with lots of tapes and CD's. Quincy has made many other singers famous, with his arrangements. Jazz thru a big orchestra just sounds so good.

  • listen to the PHARCYDE-passing me by]

they sampled this beat [very good song 1 of the best old skool hip hop songs

    [slip cwk]

  • @xzro101

nightmares on wax samped it too on "nights introlude"

  • @xzro101 and be sure to check 'Utah Jazz - Quincy'.

  • I like this version the best of all that I have ever listened.

    Chuck Raney is really cool.

  • "Passin' Me By" by the Pharcyde uses this song as a sample.

  • One of the pure beautiful songs of Quincy Jones!

  • Cool video CaroVon.. Can´t avoid to comment Chuck Rainey´s sensous bassplayin´.."low down´n´dirty" I´d might call it. This really is the black version, far from the original. A beer..please!!!

  • Should've been NY not Paris

    no offense

    peace and love

    -KOF

  • Well, take a look at the cars, they´re all european models, not a single american one...look at the number plates, these are french ones....and: why should anyone drive around in the US with an european opel/ vauxhall astra F??? And: Have u ever been to Paris??? I was, and I also was in NY, so there is no need to doubt...greets... Caro

  • @KOFLabsTV if you mean "it would have make more sense to shoot it in NY", Let me disagree on that point : Q has spent many years in Paris, an apparently highly inspirational and important period of his professional and personal life...

  • this was on a mixtape i was given ages ago, been looking for it for about four years i still as soulful and smooth as i remembered....amazing

  • Fuckin' Supreme!!!!!!!

  • awsome i was searching so long for this and now i got it chiaaaa XD
