  • I LOVE your videos! I was glued to everyone I found. You are a fantastic teacher, and I will be looking for more of your videos. Thanks for sharing your passion, knowledge, and skills.

  • Your videos are great, you’ve really taught me a lot. You are very thorough. Can I ask a few questions though. Have you considered putting a desiccant such as silica gel packets in with the oxygen absorber and food, to ensure further dehydration? And did you say the shelf life on items prepared like this is 30 years, or is it different for different products? Thanks for the fantastic vids.

  • I am so intrigued! I was previously thinking of canning to put away food. That idea has been ditched for dehydration. To have the possibility of preserving food for 30 years is astounding and wonderful.

  • Looks good! do you have an extra bowl for me? LOL keep going women, Your good!!!!!!!!

  • We just started 3 days ago and love it! Thanks, Your videos just helped me understand the best prepping process. You covered everything I needed to know. Thanks again fom Cincinnati

  • I feel like I am a lottery winner! Wow, absolutely phenomenal ! You have me sold for sure I can not wait to get started on this and not to mention my wife is going to be so freaking happy that she can get me to eat her creations now!!!!! LOL. Besides this is going to be our bonding time too . Just what I needed . Thanks so much! and God bless

  • I've really learned a lot from you and admire you for sharing your info. What will you do if God forbid, the SHTF and you have no power? What kind of a backup method is there to dehydrate or will you have to switch to traditional canning?? Is sun drying feasible?

  • how do you vacum pack the jars

  • I love your videos and have been dehydrating for 2 yrs...I had a lot of okra and so I fixed it and the family loves it for snack..just a little salt and pepper. Do you have any other suggestions for okra long term storage. Can I batter it with meal and have it last for long term?

  • Outstanding! I can't wait to do some dehydrating foods. Excellent video!!!!

  • Your videos are so wicked! I likes very much. I just love the idea. Good initiative for posting these videos, thank you very much. So many times we buy things that end up eventually in the garbage, because we didn't use it fast enough, this is a real money saver. I believe I will follow in your footsteps! By the way I am a computer programmer in the finance world, and a man, so it's not even for the money thing that I am thinking about it, it's just to starve my garbage bin!

  • I'm starting down the road to dehydrating for economic reasons. Food is even more expensive in Canada then it is in the states, when I came here from California I got sticker shock when I first went to the store. Luckily Southern BC a has huge number of farmers markets. I'm finally going to break away from the high price/ lower quality grocery store food and start bulk buying quality locally grown produce and dehydrating/storing it. Your videos and that awesome shelf full of jars is inspiring.

  • that soup look so yummy !!!

  • I bought a dehydrator about 3 months ago but mainly for beef jerky and now I want to try all different sorts of things thanks so much for all your information its great!! I only have a cheap round dehydrator and now am going to buy an excalibur this it so exciting and I am so looking forward to starting to build a pantry. So I just wanted to say thanks you and your website are great I have searched all sorts of websites and none of them have been as helpful as your so again thanks :)

  • Great job!

  • Your amazing! I have one question I just bought a food saver. Can I use the myler bags with it? How about other plastics?

  • Very educational! I've been wishy washsy about how I was going to start storing but this is it. Thanks a ton!

  • God bless you Tammy. I am going to start using all your storing and cooking techniques. Thanks for posting and helping us all.

  • Your videos are so good. I think (but won't know until I do) you covered everything and made it seem like a breeze.Very cool. Thanks.

  • Thank you for opening me up to the idea of dehydrating. I never realized how easy it is. Thanks for the economic insight. I am a CPA and I know this economic collapse is coming. Study the history of the great depression of the 1930s.

  • Thank you for doing this all for free. Many sites charge money for every little piece of information!

  • great videos! I will be doing this in the near future! thank you!!!!

  • This is just amazing. I have priced already dehydrated foods, and to my utter shock, found them extremely expensive especially when compared to what you are doing here. its obvious that once the initial investments are done, for the machines etc, that the costs drop through the floor, only requiring packaging and food [and power of course]

thank you so much for caring enough about the rest of us to go to such lengths to give us a chance.

  • I just got my Excalibur today and I am really looking forward to getting started. Your website is amazing! I am so grateful that you have taken time to put that together. Thank you thank you thank you!

  • Outstanding series of videos.. Going to your site to find out more, and thank you for the information you share.

  • That soup looks delicious!! Thank you for the idea

  • I love this idea of making small packages with the ingrediants for your favourite soup ready to go. I will be doing this, thanks

  • Hello Tammy, this series was WELL DONE. Thanks for the time and effort you and the cameraman put into this.

Well presented, pic and volume good.

I have gotten a better understanding and a renewed energy for dehydration. I have an ancient round machine that has stood up to the test of time. :)

I am looking at the large number of O2 packs. I'll be googling away to see where to get them.

    Best regards

    Tom

  • You are brilliant! Thanks for the help I learned a lot.

  • so do you cook and dehydrated cooked rice, or is that uncooked dried rice?

  • Wow, I bought my dehydrator and Vacuum sealer today and I'm trying to learn the tricks of the trade, you're so dedicated and very informative, your videos are of much help. Many thanks from Australia :-)

  • Thank you for all the wonderful information. Do you reseal the small jars each time you use them?

  • Hi MrJcomfort,

I am so sorry for not responding. Sometimes with the in coming messages some fall between the cracks. Yours was one of those, I;m sorry.

I just screw the lid back on with the same oxygen pack inside as the first time. If I no longer hear the pop when opening then I replace it. Your name will stand out to me now. Tammy

  • @Dehydrate2store

Where do you get your oxygen absorbers? I've noticed some come in bags of 50. Once I would open the bag they come in, I'd have to use all 50 of them. Can I get them in smaller sealed quantities?

  • u should sell bags of the soup for long term storage...id buy it.

  • Thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos. I have also been watching the economy with MUCH concern. I paid into a farm share last year and had so much fresh produce, but didnt know how to preserve it conveniently and economically. Thanks to you, I do now!

Looking forward to watching your other videos!

  • Thanks for the video it'sa big help.

  • WOW. That is amazing.

  • You are a special person to work so hard at teaching everyone how to do this step by step. We always wonder in our lives how we can truly make a difference and be of service to others. Sometimes the world's troubles can seem so overwhelming, but as your videos demonstrate, baby steps and practicality will prepare us for any potential disasters, be they natural or economic. You're saving lives, plain and simple. God bless you.

  • I am so grateful for your videos!! My husband and I have been watching the economy for a while and have decided to store up some supplies for our family. I am very new to this and had no idea of what to do at first, your videos have helped so much, it is like having a friend show you step by step. Thank You and we look forward to any others you may post.

  • Thank you for putting your knowledge out there for so many of us to benefit from. You made me laugh when you started to speak out about the economy and then proceeded to list all of my favorite go to guys about the economy (except no mention of Ron Paul). Thank you again for all of your hard work, I'll let all the other Canadians know to look your videos up.

  • Thank you 7532730,

I know I forgot to mention my 2 Heros, Ron Paul and Glenn Beck. Men who make truth and honesty a part of their daily life. Who care more about Human life and rights then filling their pockets with greed.

I pray God stands by their side every minute of the day.

    Tammy

  • Thank you so much for making these videos. I am in NZ and just got a dehydrator. It was so helpful watching you and I appreciate it very much. Kindest wishes.

  • Hey another Kiwi! :o)

Where did you get your dehydrator from, what kind and how much?

I was looking for an Excalibur brand as in these vids, they were around 500-600 NZD.

    Cheers!

  • Thank you so much for these wonderfully informative videos. I wonder if you could post a response here where you get your mylar bags, oxygen absorbers, as well which company gives the best bang for your buck on those plastic bags and mason jars you use ? I know those can run into some money and they very in quanity and price website to website. Thanks again for the time and effort. You should get your own website your so awesome.

  • Can I ask which brand/model of vacuum sealer you show in the videos and does it have the option for accessory attachment such as mason jar sealer? I ordered the Excalibur dehydrator unit today because of your great series, thanks!

  • Just Great! I loved your video. There must be some kind of universale mind set. I just bought that same dehydrater, a vacuum sealer and know you've comfirmed everything I all ready knew. Thank you again and good luck! I look forward to see more of you great recipes.

  • can you dehydrate meat ?

  • Thank you for the videos, the dehydration fest is on in Lake Tahoe!

  • I just found your videos and love them. Ive searched the internet for "how to" videos and more often than not they dont turn out. Im excited about dehydrating again. I'm going to the grocery store tomorrow to see what I can find to dehydrate!!! thanks again!!!

  • I would like to thank everyone for all the kind word of encouragement. Im overwhelm by the response and e-mail I have received. Thursday and Friday I will be uploading some new videos regarding fruit rollups, fruit and a 3 course meal with dehydrated food. Most important, I will be attaching a shelf life chart on dehydrated and dried foods that you should be able to print out and keep at hand.

Once again thank you and ring the bell. Tammy

  • If you had a TV show, it would go over very good! I think you should! Now, I want to see you on television like tomorrow!

  • Wow!great vids, excellent effort.Very comprehensive info.I'm concerned about the world like many others and am taking steps to prepare even though it seems like it will never b enough.I bought canned goods but weight and logistics are becoming an issue.I thought of dehydrating but was too lazy to look into it,now I'm convinced it the way to go.Thanx

  • Do you dehydrate meats too?

  • Excellent video series! Keep them coming, I'd love to see more recipes. I just received my Excalibur dehydrator for Christmas so this is perfect timing. Thank you!

  • Your a very smart person.

    Tammy

  • on your oxygen absorbers, for your jars/foodsaver bag what type of oxygen absorbers CC? do you use....ie 300cc, 750cc?

    thanks

  • In my jars I put 100cc but,I change them fequently. You will know when to change them if you no longer here the pop. I use 2000cc on a bucket with a 6 gallon mylar bag filled with bean, rice, barley, ect. This is because the bucket has only a mylar bag when I fill it with 25 lb. of beans. Vaccum bags (because they are vaccumed) I would use 100cc per 1 gallon bag. Then I would place that vaccum bag into a mylar bag and seal that.

  • Remember, the mylar bag is not a vaccum bag. Keep the questions coming. Thanks for watching and good luck.

  • this is all new to me, thanks for ur video and lot of great tips...and i love the oxgen absorbers idea...and how do you dehydrate rice? do you fully cook the rice and drain it? never tought of using jars until now...this is all new to me, keep the video's coming....thanks

  • Thanks for watching. Dried bean, rice and barley are already dried so no need to dehydrate. I will be doing more videos soon. Again thank you, Tammy

  • I happened to be searching for canning video's when I came across your video series - now I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my excalibur so I can begin dehydrating again - the only suggestion I could make is to keep them coming!!! I loved the tips on the buckets, I didn't think to add the oxygen absorbers to the jars - great idea -

thanks again for the tips and how to's - am looking forward to more video's!!

  • Thank you for purchasing a dehydrator. This is one of the smartest things people can do right now. I will be doing more videos soon.

  • do you happen to grow your own veggies?

  • Yes,I do have a garden. This past fall I doubled the size. I only use Heirloon seeds because genetically engineered seeds can not be used for a new yield the following year. This is great for companies like Monsanto because you have to purchase seeds every year.

  • i bought all my heirloom seeds from bountiful gardens ,the only seeds that i am taking a gamble on because i could not find a definate heirloom for rice,i currently have over 60 packets and a couple different varietys (4 different tomatoes ,2 radishes,5 lettuces)i have my grain seeds and even tabacco and a sugar sub. all i need now is my potato seeds and coffee seeds and i should be ready for this years garden :)cant wait til i can start my seeds
