  • Only baby boomers and the people who were three years old in 1999 ever use the term "the nineties." It's not transparent or anything though. Don't worry kids.

  • @StephenAndrew777 i use the term the 90's all the time, and im gen x. so yeah, when i think of the breeders i think of my gen, the 90's. what are you talking about dude?

  • @deftones311100 When you think of the breeders you think of your gen? Well for fuck's sake! How embarrassing... I most certainly do stand corrected. Allow me to rephrase things. Only baby boomers, the people who were three years old in 1999 and the people who say things like "my gen" ever use the term "the nineties." It's not transparent or anything though. Don't worry kids.

  • @StephenAndrew777 ya know what else i think about when it comes to the 90's. me kicking your ass in the school hallway

  • @deftones311100 I got my ass kicked? In a hallway? You're off your meds.

  • @StephenAndrew777 you're annoying. its time you shut that dick-sucker up boy. go listen to some more nickleback and stay away from me.

  • @deftones311100 Whatever makes you less insecure about your extra chromosome you bed wetting disgrace to music fans the world over.

  • i love you kim

  • I love this song...what's it about? A friend who had a bad drug trip, someone's baby at the zoo, a candy bar?? I love it when they(musicians) can write songs, and leave it up to the listener what the songs' actually about...epic!

  • @alisterfolson she certainly had adequate inspiration for writing nonsensical lyrics. after all, she was in the pixies with frank black ;)

  • Damn! where have I been? Don't think I've ever seen Kim look better. Classic.

  • kim deal fue y es una grosa

  • The fuck album is this from??

  • @TheRiversDark I think it was a stand-alone EP although "pod" is probably the closest in sound.

  • Fucking genius! Musical perfection. I adore Kim.

  • tss...

  • This is definitely the music of my generation. To come of age in the 1990s is the coolest thing ever and bands like The Breeders certainly provided the most awesome soundtrack.

  • Comment removed

  • @01010101101010100110 not completely true i saw the breeders open up for nirvana

  • @MrCowicide nirvana was for sure influenced by the pixies, and i would say breeders somewhat it is possible to still be influenced by a band even after you started, i saw them together on the in utero tour

  • such stuff that dreams are made on

  • great song, but a poor man;s River Euphrates

  • Loving Tanya.

  • so lovely

    fujk

  • Great song, i just kinda hate the drumming on it. Sorry :-)

  • The only song in history that would not benefit from more cowbell.

  • Im sorry, but, Is there anybody cooler than Kim Deal?

  • @emmers57 Shirley Manson..... :)

  • @ScarlettRoberts Shirley'cool, but until I see footage of her playing guitar, smoking, and singing, all at the same time, my money is still on Kim!

  • @emmers57 yeah... well... both of them are the coolest girls in the world!

  • @emmers57 No, there is no one cooler than Kim Deal.

  • Thats her from Belly, Tanya Donelly on that musical instrumemt....ohhhh, whats it called again? That thing with those stringy bits...

  • Thats her from Belly, Tanya Donelly on that musical instrumemt....ohhhh, whats it called again? That thing with those stringy bits...

  • I like the part where she goes Aaaaaaaa

  • I cry out for you too Kim!!!

  • love the band name and what it represents (!!!!!) we're not fcking breeders

  • @TheFlipdoggydog "Breeders" is a term for hetero in homosexual slang(at least what I heard)

    lol ;p

  • @GDevourer .......can you please confirm this for us penny and bobby!

  • Check Breeders on English wikipedia ;}

  • I used to study withe the Drummer Jon Mattocks (from spacemen 3, spiritualized, massive attack tec)

  • i wish i could be in the 90's forever. love you kim and tanya.

  • I just love how this video is so shit. It's just a big fuck off to mtv and every blow hard wanna be band that aspired to make videos.you can tell what the band are thinking"We're musicians,we play music, love us or leave us".That's why the breeders are one of the best things to have ever happened to me and I'll never grow tired of this song.this is the most important song i've ever listened to.

  • @nphanlon1973 Kim is a huge Black Sabbath fan, it was shot on the same soundstage where they did the 'Paranoid' video, I think. I'd wager it was more an homage to that than a fuck-off to the concept of promotional videos.

  • Anyone know if there both still on heroin?

  • @swany666 Kelley's been off it since '95 or so, but admitted to occasional relapses in the 2002 documentary "The Real Deal" which you can watch here on YouTube. Kim's been sober since 2003 or so, but hasn't said whether or not she's fallen off the wagon. Her bigger problems were, evidently, pot and beer, if you can believe that. Both of them have even quit smoking. Kim was always the more responsible heroin user, that's what the Amps song "Pacer" is about.

  • @visitinguncle Thanks man! :)

  • @visitinguncle Wow, I never realized that "Pacer" was about that. Interesting.

  • beautiful x

  • If you're a bass player you must love the Breeders.

  • He didn't cry on a safari

    In over his knees

He couldn't leave a finer life

    Always hugging the ground

    And crying out for me

He didn't cry on a safari

    In over his knees

He couldn't leave the flock, he couldn't leave

    always hugging the man

    and crying out for me

  • @KronnangDunn "over the seas" - "he couldn't leave the fine life" - "huggin' the land"

  • Kim is so beautiful

  • this EP is AMAZEBALLS

  • one of the best super groups ever...why can' I get this song out of my head???

  • 27 people don't want to go on safari

  • Kim calls it an eargasm and that's exactly what she gives you.

  • We need to get a Breeders Greatest Hits.

  • this video is so 90's!

  • @cloob1000 It's actually so 1970.

  • @visitinguncle Totally 70's

  • One of the greatest videos of all times. I love those green eyes.

  • Looks like a black sabbath or deep purple clip from the 60's and 70's, love it!

  • @rogilli I never noticed that before, but you're right. The black Sabbath Paranoid ( at v=-JoSIGGOGZQ) is pretty much the same style.

  • sooooooooooo addictive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is the song Frank Black wished he had written =)

  • I still have a crush on Tanya... and Kim... and Kelly

  • My daughter's name is Ayana! :D I <3 the Breeders! This must be hella old ...

  • como los amo

  • I know many people, if given the chance to use a time machine, would perhaps hang around Jesus of Nazareth, maybe even the ancient Greeks, or view the pyramids of Egypt. I however would travel to circa 1980's, meet up with Kim Deal at her high school, and hopefully become the father of her baby

  • @sammyh1982 I'd try to get her to leap on the bus to Lesbos with me ;-)

  • @sammyh1982 noooooo you would alter the space-time continuum and the pixies and breeders would never exist!

  • Lois Griffin rockin the gold top

  • If my neighbor had not given me this CD single in 1994

I would not have developed a drinking problem, dropped out of college,

went to work at a liquor store in NJ, joined the Army at the age of 30,

went to Iraq, gotten kicked out of the Army, and eventually

at 38 returned to college. Thanks BREEDERS!

  • Kim looks absolutely beautiful in this video!! She's a woman to be admired.

  • Best song I've ever heard. This song is litterally perfect.

  • My computer was screwed up for a month& this song is the one I wanted to hear 1st..It's that good.

  • this was funny in the 90's reference the past.. but tha is all we do now... sliding scale..velouria by the pixies, video about nothing was inspirational, as was this one..

    kick ass song too...

  • I want Kim!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • not bad

  • I love this song...even after all of these years it still rocks.

  • ....WHOEVER DID not LIKE THIS? YOU MUST BE A MEMBER OF THE ENGLISH LEGAL SYSTEM OR A MAOIST! I WANT TO LOCATE ALL SUCH MAOZ AND SELL THEM COWBOY HATS N BOOTS. i WILL THEN "FINANCE" THEM INTO HOMELESSNESS - AND OFFER THEM STUDENT LOANS TO ATTEND "THE jonmoontrip SCHOOL OF DOUCHE-BAG!" I WILL THEN ELECT THEM "POLITICIANS" AND MONITOR THEIR UNDERWEAR!

  • aaaaaahhhhhh aahhh aaaaahh aaaaaah

  • @juan8581 ....WHOEVER DID not LIKE THIS? YOU MUST BE A MEMBER OF THE ENGLISH LEGAL SYSTEM OR A MAOIST! • yeah, rockromance, a good job so far...

  • Did Kelley ever perform live with them, or was she only in the Breeders during the studio recordings?

  • how simple real and beautiful group no nothing just music and real beauty

  • I like Kelly Deal the most1

  • @klinsmeier Kim Deal

  • i love this song!

  • I remember waaaay back when this was released I went to Best Buy to get the single and when I got home and played it, it was a They Might Be Giants imprint with the Safari single artwork. I laughed all night on that one. A few weeks later I got another and it had the song. I still keep them both just for the novelty of it... and the fact that it's an awesome song.

  • Extremely simple, direct and punchy. Sometimes pop music surprise me: no fast riffs, no complicated arrangements, no pretentious solo parts... just a strange kind of "beautiness" filling my ears...

  • @redlandscape and i just read your comment after posting mine lol that means this music has completed its task succesfully enough

  • @redlandscape Agreed. It's called having soul. It's something you can't fake with gimmicks. Either you have it naturally or you don't. It's the thin, invisible cords that float through the ether and pinch through all our hearts. That's that feeling you get in your heart when you hear this. The connectivity of souls.

  • @MrCowicide You put that thought across perfectly. Kim Deal is just absolutely incredible. A true artist. It is just incredible to see her perform. If you haven't seen it already, there is a David Letterman appearance of the Breeders doing a cover of The Who's So Sad About Us. I just saw it for the first time a couple of days ago. Her enthusiasm is something that just cannot be faked.

  • I wish this had been on Last Splash. It would have made an amazing album even more amazing.

Everyone mentions Kim...understandably...but Tanya looks adorable in this video.

  • Look this Video from Vienna

    youtube.com/watch?v=vaWZetBfx9o

  • Tanya Donelly is wearing a scrunchie.

  • @eggletsvideo you got a problem with that,do we need to step outside?

  • lindo lindo

  • Very few things in life make me as happy as the deal sisters.

  • cpkelley- maybe he's not dressed for sucess because as the drummer he needs to move freely...

  • Everyone is business casual except the drummer....maybe he missed the memo.

  • whoa, tanya looks like she's 12 yrs old here

  • I can't say enough good things about this song & band.

  • They were better than pixies imo

  • @junkyturd That's like saying beer is better than whiskey. Sometimes you want one... sometimes you want the other... sometimes you want both.

That said, I will agree that the Pixies, although epic, probably would have been even greater if Black Francis had let Kim Deal have more creative influence.

  • yes... I love the music she's done, from the breeders to the amps.... Mountain Battles.. (smiles)

  • this song is just so f'in cool.

loved it back then and it stands the test of time. just a great song.

  • I wish I was Kelly's Stratocaster guitar!

  • WOW.

  • Opening reminds me of spank thru xD

  • I love the breeders, I am a super fam of them... but those clothes are just hideous!!!!

  • I love her, she's so silly.

  • ps, i fucking love the breeders!

  • @Slimjim7100 : You've said the words my friend ;)

  • i was watching tv the other day and some metal band called "devil driver" came on, i have never seen a more obvious rip off of a video in my life. see for yourself!

search devil driver - hold back the day. haha its quite funny.

  • @Slimjim7100 I just watched that video, and all I could think of was when dudes drive really big pickup trucks to compensate for their small penises, or whatever.

I think dudes that like metal like that were abused as children.

  • @tombuttner HEY! Dont hate on heavy metal guys because they have small dicks! its a genetical default that is entirely out of their control! far out man, you need to take a long hard look in the mirror! haha

  • @Slimjim7100 watch the video for Black Sabbath's Paranoid and you will see where the Breeders got the idea from. I doubt Devil Driver got the idea from this song.

  • Holy elf-shit. I can't believe I have never heard this before. The 90's were truly a superior time in music.

  • @MrTheShmuck Hey....I wanna cover you in honey and ride you into the forest...mmm...

  • @IdleTime1001 Thank You 8 months later

  • @MrTheShmuck Anytime you beautiful thing

  • wow - its music - real giutars with harmonic drums - and the voice from Kim is erotic

  • Forever

  • Tanya was my first guitar chick infatuation. Hot, sweaty, drum thumped great music. Time is the greatest test...therefore, those not yet born will go on safari. Safari will always be good.

  • @utarefsonmetushelac Want an awesome song...

  • Want an awesome song...

  • This song could have been included on Last Splash (1993). Not only was it infectious but there was enough place on the record!

  • Fucking brilliant

  • Kim Deal - the greatest woman who ever lived (apart from my girlfriend)

  • @troublehoff No, she's still better.

  • Too bad I wasn't older during this time period...I was wearing fucking Huggies when this song came out damn it! >:(

  • Damn, this makes me nostalgic, too. Screw it, there was thrashy pop, but also people who just played rock for playing´s sake, damn it! Nowadays 13 year olds know how to sign contracts and stuff... jeez! Good ol times!
