  • Nice job mate !

  • I'll take what he's having!

  • tabs?

  • Awesome cover man! I've watched a lot of your Don Ross vids and they're great. I just posted a video recently of "berkeley springs" if you wanna check it out. I want to do "the first ride" next but it's sooo hard on the right hand! haha

  • Man, that was really great. I learned Klimbim a while ago and it was very challenging. I need to get that one out again. Do you have a cover of that?

  • Hey there, awesome cover! You're very talented, feel free to check out my Don Ross covers. But I was wondering where you purchased this sheet music? Because man, I can't find it for sale anywhere, I tried Don's gobyfish site and candyrat, so ive learned half of the song by ear and am eager to learn the rest but I need the sheet music! So where'd you get it??

  • @ChrisW21341 If it's not on the Candyrat site, I have no idea. got the handwritten version in the Answer Book from Don about 20 years ago.

  • Great job. Was this a harder or easier piece of Don's to learn?

  • @Gitbox56 Definitely more of a right-hand workout than most. I'm still trying to play it well.

  • Awesome! Best cover on youtube I've seen so far. Beautiful.

  • @slennie I just rediscovered the sheet music after the move and fixed up a few of the problem areas. A new HD upload is forthcoming!

  • Awesome! Your guitar sounds very nice too.. Great playing

  • Wow, nicely done, sir. A joy to watch and listen.

  • Great performance - good job :).

  • Very nice man! Trying to work this one out myself, great tone and rhythm!

  • @Methos06wd Thanks. Don't forget to post when you get it done.

  • Flawless playing, man. I love the tone of your guitar. I've noticed that a lot of fingerstyle players have that sort of steely sound on their guitars. I don't know if you'd call it sorta jangly...? But what is that? Is it the kind of strings you use, or do you have the guitar plugged in on a certain setting? Just wondering, thanks!

  • @IsaacTheGuitarist The sound could be the strings, or their attack, or that the top doesn't move very much (cheaper guitar?) so all you can hear are the strings. In my case, I'm playing VERY lightly (you can hear a lot of nail noise in some parts) in to a mic (Zoom H4) so you can hear a lot of overtone from the cedar soundboard. The strings are Elixir Phosphor/Bronze

  • Very impressive.

  • Thanks for watching and commenting.

  • @promothus Thanks!

  • REALLY good man, I'm trying my hand at some don ross covers myself, although no comparison to yours but I'm trying my best check out under 515030ful and let me know what you think of the don Ross tuning, messing around video aswell as somebody the other ones. Hope to hear back from someone like you who has it under there fingers. Thanks for posting

  • I'll certainly take a look and listen. Cheers.

  • This has been my favorite Don Ross song since the early 90's! You do such a wonderful rendition. Thanks for displaying a cover that truly does this song justice.

    =]

  • Thanks Napalm.

  • Sounds great ! both player and guitar have a warm sound ;-)

I got this piece on cd and i find your version also very nice to listen to.

    thanks for posting !

  • Got to love the sound of cedar.

  • Perfect Warren !

Furthermore I love this piece !

Thanks for sharing a new favorite of mine,

    wolfgang

  • You're so easy to please. Ha ha!

  • Fantastic! Thanks for posting this man. Inspires me to get off my butt, pick up my guitar and learn to play like you!

  • Get to work!

  • oh yes, Warren!

toroughly enjoyable all the way till the very end ..!

And you have a sound to kill for! (oh well..!)

All the best and have a phenomenal 2010,

    Pascal

  • 2010 - working on it! I was really happy with the guitar's tone.

  • Hey I think this is the best cover of this song I've heard yet (and I've been looking around a lot I love this song). As a guitar player myself, the only thing I could say is try to play a bit less with the metronome. It is great for practice but Don Ross seems to abandon it in his songs because he changes the rhythm a lot which feels very static if playing to metronomic. It's not the biggest thing in the world, just my interpretation.

  • What is this metronome you speak of? I haven't seen or heard one of those since grade 6.

"I guess you can't 'andle my riddum." - Georges St. Pierre

  • Well this brought a big smile to my face this morning Warren, Thank You. Well played as always

  • Thank you sir.

  • Awesome ! And what a nice tone dude.

  • Thanks! I was geeking out to playing this song softly as the soundboard was loaded up with overtones and very little fundamental. I had to boost the signal by 8 dBs. It's why you hear a lot of nail noise too.

  • Love your stuff saffronboots. We should do a good two part song together sometime. I'd like to do maybe Find the Cost of Freedom (CSNY) or a good Dave Matthews/Tim Reynolds selection. You could do your part, then I'll DL it and mix my part in split screen.

  • wow. amazing job, well done.

  • Thanks racketman90!

  • Just got word you're back! Great to see hear you again. Extremely excellent as always. Have a great year.

  • Ha ha, thanks. I too, am hoping to have a much better year in 2010.

  • Could've sworn it was Don himself playing! Great job.

  • That dude's got WAY more hair than me! Thanks for watching and commenting.

  • @saffronboots I meant soundwise, but yes he does hahaha

  • I was trying to make a funny...
