Flatch 1 and 2 both are the best ironical american comedies. When I hear that US comedy is stupid, I say: watch Fletch!

Thats stupid to say. I didnt read the books or anything but i loved Fletch and Fletch Lives. The part on the plane and "Do you take other cases or specialize in Transvestite Necropheliacs?" had me dying. Fletch lives was still very funny

The first Fletch was a hilarious classic, but Fletch Lives was terrible, due mostly to the fact that they didnt base it on one of the sequel books, instead they wrote a truly lame "original" screenplay in which Chevy was allowed to chew the scenery and dominate it wayyy too much. I just watched it again this morning on pay TV and Im still stunned at how few laughs there are in the sequel. But the original is still an indisputable mystery and comedy masterpiece.

It WAS bad. Not a patch on the original. But the "Gene Hackman kick your ass" still kills me.

And "You shouldn't wear so much eye make-up. Makes you look cheap."

Seriously. I watched both back to back the other day. Fletch Lives has a weaker plot, but arguably funnier humor. Chevy was great

@cinemavirtualis The plot is pretty lame, but I feel that Chevy has plenty of good quips and reaction shots and the disguises / fake names made me laugh.
