  • lol

  • Why didnt you yell hey your about to get hit by a train!?

  • Woooow these guys are idiots. This happens way too often

  • cool

  • I know you might have been surprised as well, and I am all for survival of the fittest, but why didn't you yell out to them? If they had been killed it would have been very psychologically and emotionally taxing to you. As well as you having to go to court as a witness.

  • @N0l4nH I explained in the "full" description about just that. I am amazed folks comment on stuff without reading the "full" description. The best is when someone asks "where is this" ---when the location is in the title!--lol. Anyway, I at first let out a yell and could hardly hear myself, because it was so loud. I was about 50 60 feet away too. I frantically waved my arms and saw his gaze shift to me and I pointed repeatly----it was very, very close for sure. Yellow lines are there now. Doug

  • @bertbert14 Okay sorry man and good job.

  • With all the baloney CSX spews about how dangerous 'trespassing' is (and I mean walking in the access trails along the tracks, etc, not actually on their rails), I'm always surprised that there's seldom ever anything at the stations keeping people from standing closer than 2 feet or so to the edge of the platform - which is natural as people want to lean out and look. The trains come past right up to the edge in some places, which could easily grab an arm, or a lady's purse hanging out....

  • What a fucking idiot.

  • Bet he nearly crapped himself

  • Mind the gap!

  • I'll bet he bout shit himself. Lucky S.O.B.

  • This is what happened to a brother and sister where I live. They were on the second track waiting for a freight to pass when a high speed Amtrak snuck up on them. Killed them both. Very sad. Another instance a teen was struck after a freight passed not knowing an Amtrak was on the other line going the same direction passing the freight. These trains can run both directions on either track.

  • hi nice video but why was that person near the tracks day dreaming and almso got hit, the csx engins could never stop with all that freight cars where is this looks like a great place to watch trains do you have more info and a dvd like the video a lot please post more thanks.

  • Where is the yellow line?

  • That is a beautiful station.

  • holy crap! that was to close!

  • THANK'S 4 SAVING THAT GUY FROM BEING HIT AND DRAG, COOL VIDEO,

  • o I wish u had brought your scanner.

  • What the heck was the guy doing right next to the track!?

  • That would have hurt. BAD.

  • Maaaan!

  • holy crap

  • Very close call there

  • I Think we're all glad of the final outcome. You probably saved that mans life. Excellent video Doug. Glad to see you enjoying yourself.

  • Stand behind yellow line line coming soon.

  • wow this is insanely close! i love how NO one even notices...CSX must have every quiet horns if it were CN the guy would of jumped in the air by the reaction.

  • Wow.. that was too close,u could hear the emergency brakes ~

  • @UFO151 Or just replace those shitty K5LAs with Leslie horns, those things are four times louder.

  • @gumball469 Hey, not all K5LA's sound bad. Our ALCO has a first generation K5LA & it sounds great. On the GEVO's the horns just need to be flipped. Still this horn was loud enough this guy was not paying attion and the sound from the other train was drowning it out.

  • @metraF40PH163 I dont hate K5LAs to the death, but everytime I hear one I get reminded of Amtrak trains, which is all I see on the CP, and they can get very annoying. I'ver heard the K5LA on your ALCO, it sounds really nice. K5HLs should be replaced with K3L's or something more pleasing to listen to. And yes I agree, guy should have been paying attention.

  • I've always been for horns being placed in the FRONT of a locomotive. While I realize this increases cab noise, it also directs the sound in front of the locomotive. This video is a perfect example of how a horn placed mid-way on a locomotive can be mistaken for a passing train. Having a K5LA blasting all 5 bells in the direction of travel can and will cause people to notice. Take a look at the horn placement on some locomotives, there's more bells facing the rear of the engine. Silly FRA rules.

  • @UFO151 Excellent point!

  • oohhh man....

  • Holy Cow!!! That was way too close! Great catch!

  • seems like he did not here the horn a few 100 times

  • woah, where is this?

  • @MrGerbilBrain LOL nevermind that, forgot to read the description! :O

  • if you looked up the word stupid in the dictionary, you would find their picture.

  • This is probably the most purest title with video about close calls I've seen in awhile.

  • Was that his wife coming upto you to thank you? Nice to see somone appreciated you giving the guy the heads up!

As people have said - there is no need to stand that close to tracks - especially if you have your back to the direction trains will be coming from!

  • Talk about too close for comfort! I think the reason he didn't notice the 2nd Train that nearly smigged him is because of the 1st train; he probably thought it was blasting it's horn as it went past him but he got a shock when he noticed it was in fact a 2nd train blowing it's horn and heading straight for him. People will hopefully think twice after this; there is a reason to not be to close to the tracks; you never know when a train will suddenly appear; espeically if it's an express!

  • Continued: If the 1st Train wasn't passing at the time chances are he would have noticed the 2nd one sooner but even so it will make him think about not standing too close in future :)

  • Wow!

  • I still don't understand how they didn't hear it... I mean I can see if the woman didn't hear it because well........anyways that guy is a dumbass. lol

  • @nssd70m2 He didn't hear it because there was a westbound train traveling right next to him. A child could figure that out.

  • @Trackside1234 Are you really that slow? You can hear the damn Horn in the video, and the video camera was farther away from the horn than them, so they could obviously hear it...

  • @nssd70m2 you can hear the horn but the guy standing next to the tracks is also standing next to a very loud freight train. Obviously the guy with the camera could see the train because it was coming right towards him.

Ever been to Harpers Ferry? I doubt it. Eastbounds come around that curve and most people are focused to the east towards the tunnel because that is where the scenery is. I shoot there all of the time.

  • thats wot u call "not being very awake" haha

  • That would have hurt!!!!!!!!!! Glad he was missed! You would have that engrained in your memory forever! That would be a hard image to forget!

  • Holy shit!! I'm so used to the yellow markings on the edges of the Chicago Metra platforms that remind you to stand back some distance from the tracks....not that that platform. That's pretty scary.

  • He better go buy a lottery ticket

  • Friggin Amish

  • Wow, people really need to stand back from the tracks more, this was close!

  • beautiful shot at the beginning

  • at least he turned around. and then sat down

  • wow shit

  • It's amazing. Nobody else on the platform gives them any warning ( besides the cameraman ) as everyone is spacing out. We have become so accustomed to noise.

  • Thanks for sharing this video with us, very good.

  • Wow you don't notice a train when its right behind you? Way way too close for me.

  • *shudder* Good catch.

  • Thats cutting it way to close. Good catch

  • shouldnt be standing that damn close to the tracks anyway

  • PUCKER factor engaged! Hope he packed an extra pair of underwear, 'cause he probably needed a change after that!

  • One second later, and who knows what would have happened. It's too bad people don't pay more attention or care more their safety around trains. People seem to have this mindset that "The train will stop for me", and the train says otherwise. Excellent video. Hopefully people will watch this, and think twice the next time they are around railroad tracks...

  • WOW!!! nice catch!

  • Awesome video and catch. Great save from you. That was way to close for comfort. You need to have situational awareness.

  • Nice catch Doug!

  • I'm still baffled that they didn't notice sooner.

  • wow, way too close.... Always gotta keep an eye in each direction.
