Although the Cherry Poppin' Daddies did not write the song...it is a song about the zoot suit riots in California in WWII...their version is the best I've ever heard. Sorry they and swing music faded off of the music scene.

@personhater253 basically it was a dress suit, almost like something you would see on a stereotypical "old-school Italian gangster".

The reason for the riots was this-these particular suits were often wide legged (lots of fabric) and during WWII people rationed (tried not to waste) fabric. The young men wearing them often were not soldiers and were dancing with the girlfriends of the soldiers/sailors when they were away at war. Thus they were attacked for appearing to be "unpatriotic".
