This was a very good video. I learned a lot about sail boats. It looks like you've got it all the bases covered. I did have one question about the battery. Is there some way the battery is charged wen you are out on the water? I have trouble with my RV batter running down when not in use.
@SparkieWaller2009 Thanks for the compliment! I didn't have all that much electrical to run but always wanted some way to charge batts out on the water..... Solar panel would only charge 6-10 amp hours per day unless it were really big. Wind turbine generator is the way to go on the coast (almost constant breeze) but is EXPENSIVE for a reliable and well made one. My engine doesn't have a generator but can be added, but still would have to run for hours to charge up the battery!
@SparkieWaller2009 THere are, of course, pros and cons for all choices of charging up the battery while on the water. If I had the money, I would choose a wind generator. I just watch my energy usage and make sure I have enough for the VHF in case I need to call for assistance, in a pinch, and to run nav lights at night while on the move, or just to run the anchor light while anchored off at night so i don't get run into!
I agree about the screws sticking down from the mainsheet traveller and the peeling paint or whatever it is that is (was) covering the fiberglass under the deck. This boat is hull #600...Bob Eegs first M17 that he built when he restarted the Montgomery line so I think he gets a mulligan on these minor details. Otherwise, the boat was superbly built. These two flaws could have been easily taken care of in a day or two- but I've had other priorities ahead of it.
