  • haha I couldn't bring this up to speed, and was feeling bad, but seriously if Richter can't play this at a faster tempo, I'm ok with the way I play

  • it's not the most difficult... there are more difficult ones

  • Sounds like someone or something is levitating from the ground

  • chopin must have been a lunatic person to write an etude that you have to kill your fingers playing the chromatic scale up and down with the last 3 fingers! Pure genius and virtuoso

  • what do you mean by one of the most difficult etude by chopin? it is THE most difficult one!!!!

  • @musicy88: it depends on your technique strength areas. if thirds are your greatest weakness, then OP 25/6 would be the most difficult for you.

  • @CaradhrasAiguo49 no. no matter what, this is the most difficult one, period. i don't wanna argue. bye

  • @musicy88 I wouldn't be so certain about that - this is without a doubt one the hardest etudes by Chopin, but not necessarily the most difficult. The difficulty of this etude lies primarily in the right hand, whereas in op 25 #6 for example, the crazy third progressions are occasionally in both hands at the same time. In addition, they're really random, and thus very difficult for even experienced pianists. The hand positions are very complex in this etude as well, but it depends on the pianist.

  • It's one of most difficult etude by Chopin

C'est une des études les plus difficiles de Chopin

  • Did he play this after no 1? it is absolute hell putting these two back to back!

  • @bennettpiano complete opposites, #1 and #2 - widespread arpgs., and then this concatenation of fingers.

  • amazing thing then, this is probably maestro no 1 in interpretation and a great performer and he did NOT care much about recording his best... compared to other performers

  • he hated that etude

  • Mistakes? Try making 5% of the sound HE MADE, THAT'S the difference.

  • @Webarton He's just pointing out something, don't have to get uptight about it

  • lol if richter makes mistakes on this one... I'm not ashamed of myself anymore for not doing this well

  • this piece is hard. even this master made some mistakes...

  • amazing once again!

  • Recital in Prague - 21 II 1960

  • What`s the time of that recording? Were as well?

  • YOu are the Man or Woman for posting this. I feel that I'm not hearing enough of the chords in the right hand come out, and less of the chromatic line. hahaha. Thats always the hardest part to do, because any more pressure on the chords in the left hand and your arm will seize like locking brakes on a car.

  • amazing speed...

  • What is going on here Richter? You play #4 at double speed. This one is a real finger buster!

  • @PianoClassMan if this one was played faster, it would sound like mush
