And even in the original hetalia anime his name isn't Russia it is " Roshia = ロシア " because the anime is in japanese. What I mean is that his name is spelled in a different way in many languages.

I think that the whole baseball thing could relate to the 'Panda Hero' mercenary having a hobby of playing baseball, therefore using the baseball bat for a weapon.
