  • OMG. I managed the sound once in a school play called "Wyrd Sisters". This was the music they play when the witches crawled onto the stage in scene 1.

    I never knew...

  • Our choir is doing this song and I cannot wait to perform it!

  • at 1.08 the trumpet section dive down to get their mutes. At 1.10 they're back up ready to go. Classic.

  • Thanks to PES 2011.

  • Musica immortale

    falcoluminoso

  • Is the drum at the bottom right called the bass drum?

  • @littleasshole26 Yes.....its a "Concert Bass Drum"

  • 0:35 The sign of a great performance - broken bow hair.

  • what a wimp on the bass drum

  • Thumbs up if you heard this in PEACE TANK. Nuf said.

  • 3 retarded dislike it

  • at 0:01 the conductor is like " ok... Jesus Christ... here we go... "

    Verdi's Dies Irae is a Monster !

  • No Doomsday According To Dr.Stephen Hawking, but it is a pity we will not hear Verdi·s Dies Irae.

  • Was that Paul Routledge at 0:46?

  • why are their brass behind curtains?

  • @TheMagicofCurtis

It seems that it is a decoration.

  • @TheMagicofCurtis for the Tuba Mirum section...Verdi instructed 4 brass bands to be placed in all four corners antiphonally

  • @kanazo Correction: That was for Berlioz's, Verdi's called for 4 off-stage trumpets

  • What time of picture is it? There is a noise.

  • I like vandelli's version a little better, this was an awesome performance though!!!

  • we played this in band and at 2:20 it was nerv racking cause i had to play the higher trumpet note

  • Wow.... way too fast....

  • Not a very good representation, may be the recording.

  • @crackerasspunk

Voltaire influenced Manzoni, Manzoni was regarded as the Voltaire of Milan. Hence why Verdi wrote a requiem on his behalf for his death. He was a giant of a man in the allegorical sense.

  • This whole setting was written to a deceased poet named Alessandro Manzoni. Danm! Must've been some guy!

  • @LeeClaxton people can't help how they look, as you obviously can't help how stupid you are!

  • Ar ti yn twp fel cy

  • Im welsh, your mother wasn't complaing.

  • Oh snap! Yo mama - NICE!

  • This is so amazing to sing. I sang it about 10 years ago in the Royal Albert Hall in London with about 5,000 other singers, a full orchestra and the Albert Hall organ at full blast. We nearly took the roof off!

  • That guy at 0:46 sorta looks like Adam Savage from mythbusters, lulz.

  • @Riyuzakisan

    Or Paul Giamatti.

Although Paul Giamatti and Adam Savage do look a lot alike...

  • OMG! It's true!

  • You performed in this choir?

  • This is more than art... This is the émotion of vengeance =D Dies irae dies illa qua resurget ex favilla :p

  • our school band is going to perform this piece when its all polished, sadly we dont have a choir =/ oh well

  • at :34 the man in the glasses in the middle looks like adam savage from mythbusters.

  • @SilentWalrussi

would say more like Philip Seymour Hoffman

  • the most glorious and enraged pieces of music

  • Goes really good with Raphael's St. Michael slaying the Dragon

  • in not music, THIS IS ART.

  • Are you normal?

  • viva l'italia per i suoi lati migliori come la musica classica

  • yes it is:D:D

  • WHAT?! I think NOT.

  • i just love it <3 ^^

  • someone dropped something at 1:34 ?

  • Indeed they did! I was singing in this performance and it was someone in the brass, perhaps dripping the mute off their trumpet. Also if you listen very carefully you hear a pile of dishes being dropped off stage at 1.42!

  • @Glyndwr65

Lol, that sounded like it was possibly a triangle or something. Makes more since unless this was a special Dinner Symphony:)

  • the dropping was in tune!

  • @Predking1234 keen observation, young one

  • @Predking1234 it's the day of the last judgment my friend (Dies Irae), a lot of things will fall :)

  • Contenido y maravilloso Rizzi,pero no es Abbado.¡Grande!

  • Does anybody know who the conductor was in this clip?

  • It was Carlo Rizzi

  • @Glyndwr65 i would kill for his hair.

  • Great attack from the brass in the 'tuba mirum' here..very exciting!

  • Viva VERDI ( Viva Vittorio Emanuele Re d'Italia) was a criptic way of Italian patriots to acclaim Vittorio Emanuele II king of a united Italy.

  • Some day im going to figure out how to use tuba Mirum for a wake up alarm on the computer. Quests waking up at my house sometimes have the treat and they always thank me.

  • The beginning part sounded like the tune that was playing in Star Wars Episode 1 when Darth Maul was fighting Quai Gon and Ob Guan.

  • 1) Don't you mean Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan.

    2) The John Williams-composed "Duel of the Fates" from "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace" sounded a little bit like the Verdi-composed "Dies Irae".

    3) Both pieces are awesome!

  • I simply love it :).

  • Wow - that's a super tune!
